This is why I love the salamanders
I love the accurate portrayal of Salamanders here, as compassionate heroes of the average citizen. I really do hope other legions/chapters get some good lore portrayal too, and not just the blue smurf Ultramarines (although I can understand that they can be iconic).

i love that sakan slightly corrects himself to answer the kids question with the "it hurts a little, yes." he really wants to answer the question to the kid specifically, even if said question was on the mind of all the survivors, most certainly at least... Surely to put them at ease either way of course. Still love the heftyness of a spacemarines movement in these clips too !
2:57 An Astartes gets down on his knees because he doesn't want to lie to children. Salamanders are true Angels. Even Sa'Kan as an Astartes realizes that things are not looking good for this world and their lives.
The kind eyes of a Salamander betray a warmth much gentler than that of their home world.

@@n00bk1ng5 Seeing a grey Knight wont get you killed, they have been seen in public before, and they are openly part of Guilliman forces now. Since the Imperium in this ocasion is facing necrons and not anything demonic or warp related, they should be fine.

If most Astartes were like the Salamanders then I'd actually give a shit about Space Marines. Salamander principles should be the norm, not the exception.

Stopping to help civilians, even at the cost of the mission....
You have to remember, Astartes are a valuable resource in 40k,they shouldn't be used as bodyguards for civilians.

I love Salamnder and I would love everyone be like them, but the other side is also correct.
Failing the mission also means potentially losing the planet in its entirety or give the enemies too much of an advantage that leads to losing the planet/war.
Saving a group of people in the moment can and would most likely result in losing much more in the form of statistics in the longer run.
You gotta understand at the end of the day these people are machines of war. They were given all these gifts from the emperor to do one thing. Kill in his name. But because they're humans obviously they have different motivations
It doesnt get more badass then a Salamander. A walking killing machine with a heart (or two).
They really picked the best space marine chapter for this series didn’t they, cause literally no other chapter would ever be able to display this much compassion and care for complete strangers
"I understand you have suffered greatly" Little things like that are what seperates the salamanders from other Astartes. Most other space marines couldn't even comprehend how horrifying the situation of ordinary people can be.

It bring a tear of joy to my eye and warm my heart to a point that i even fell that i have one again(functional), i aways was a big fan of Salamanders for their singular "legit good guys trait, also flame weapons and melle weapons tradition and personalised since they make and/or modify/improve their gear since they are the only chapter that still make/fix their gear themselfs instead of relly on Mechanicus to pray all over gear that is problably way past the point of being even reliable, if someone is using a flame or plasma weapon stay clear because catastrofic malfuntions are bound to happen, unless its a Salamander made weapon because they come with 2 traits, they work as a well treated/cleaned/fixed/updated weapon and also the Salamander will not friendly fire you if you are civilian or ally. Ash skin, red eyes, self imolation fetish(i dont judge), they are freaking huge by Astartes standards (Vulkan was almost 1/3 bigger than the any other primarch), and the cherry on top is they actually care about protection and well being of others, tell me that is not unique and even contradictory aspects on a Chapter that would make some awesome stories.
