I know it's easy to get caught up in what other people are doing around you, but try to focus on yourself especially at practice. We all get better at our own pace so try to remember that! If you are getting better and running faster than the day before, that's a win for you! Stay positive and focus on bettering yourself first, you'll be much happier and want to continue working hard! A story for you: I'm overweight and my first day I could hardly run maybe 10-15 ft without getting very tired. We had to run a mile, and I only ran probably less than ⅛ of that mile. My second day I ran about ⅙ of a mile with determination and spite. Here's what I did: I set goals for myself. I ran from one pole to maybe the stop sign which was about 15-20 ft or a bit more. Then i would stop, stretch, walk a bit, and then do it all over again. I'm 14 and I weigh 220 lbs, you just have to pace yourself and not force it. Also, dont expect immediate improvement, it takes time😊😊 get it love!

@@helenakiannejad4761 honestly when I first started seeing how good everyone around me was, I got very demotivated. You need to remember that they have been doing it for longer than you. One tip I have when you are in a track meet is to set your expectations low, Make it your Goal to get 2nd to last or somewhere near the bottom not anywhere near the top if you just started
One thing I've always struggled with are stomach cramps and other stomach related issues while running. Do you have any advice for preventing stomach cramps?
Watch what you eat before you run and try to give yourself more time between running and eating your meals. Try snacking and eating light foods instead

Hi, my name is Sharon and I have an 11 year old son. His name is Aaron and he runs track SEL. We just came back from the junior Olympics in Oregon and Iowa for 2023. He has been to two other ones before that. He have been looking at some of your videos and got very inspired regarding one of your videos that reminded him of his self when he’s on the track trying to hard and sometimes not going anywhere. He’s a very good athlete and track and field he does the 4 x 4 relay. He does the 4 x 8 relay and he has an individual 800 and sometimes he does a 400 m.. I guess what her question is is, how can you give him some tips or pointers on how to use his fire well and when he needs to? We live in California I really want to have him a personal trainer so that he will be ready for next track season. Hopefully we have the right video connected here but it was just you talking about running relax sometimes you can look like you’re trying to hard and getting nowhere is one of your videos so if you could give us a few pointers, that would be great thank you and we really enjoyed all your videos.

Thank you for posting this video! I’m in 8th grade and I haven’t joined the athletics team at my school until now, so I didn’t know a lot a month ago. I’m trying out for basketball on Wednesday and I’m already doing track. But I always get tired the fastest and I’m the slowest runner there. I also get a lot of side stomach pains, I don’t know if it’s normal or not so do you have any other tips?
I want to do track and field this upcoming year but I’m overweight and I’m scared of being judged when first starting out, should I still do it? I’ve been doing the gym and running and I can do a mile in 12 minutes with breaks
Today were my try outs, this is my first time running track. We ran 100meters and I got a time of 18.25, and then we ran the 400 meters. Halfway through the lap my legs felt heavy and my hands as well, and when I finished I was breathing so fast and my feet were hurting so much. I really need tips🙏
Awesome tips! I was wondering if I can get into track/running at 21 years old? I have played basketball and soccer all my life growing up and i feel like naturally, I am pretty quick. However, I need to get down the techniques and fundamentals. Can I still give it a shot?
im starting track practice on Monday I have a lot of mixed emotions its the first sport ive ever done and im extremely scared due to me having asthma and its the same way she passed so im gonna step out and show out
I had asthma when I was younger and I know many athletes that still do. You can definitely overcome it. Have your inhaler near by just in case of emergency but overall don't let it hold you back. Good luck!
I’m a freshman in high school and I really want to join track in the spring. I have never done cross country or track in the past, so this is my first time. In starting off by attempting to run everyday outside. Is there anything else I should do to prepare?
Okay I have some questions and I'm a beginner, well I haven't started I'm still training for tryouts. But 1. Do I HAVE to wear spikes or can I use running shoes? 2. What should my workout routine be? And 3. How many miles should I run since I can't go to a track due to covid?
You don’t have to wear them, but it’s highly recommended if you want to be successful. Your workout routine will be decided by your coach when you join a team. I don’t do miles, I’m a sprinter so that’s another question for whichever coach you choose. Good luck 👍🏾
Hey I have a question for you. How much did you improve through high school. Meaning, what were your freshman or 8th grade times compared to Senior times?
@@kingsleysc I was wondering if I could get your opinion on some calculations I did. You see, I’m in between 8th and ninth grade rn and ran my first track season last season. My best 100m time was 13.3, and I accomplished that with a broken back (I am going to fully heal and be back in the game by September). My calculations are that you improved around 8% throughout high school, or 2% per year. Since I only have times from my 8th grade season, I added another 2% to the improvement percentages. If I improved by 10% by the end of my senior year, and if my back being broken slowed me down 10 or 15%, I would run times of 10.7 or 10.1 respectively, and that does not even account for the fact I didn’t have track spikes and that I was using terrible middle school blocks I barely knew how to use. What do you think?
Track improvement isn’t something you can calculate because there so many factors that go into running fast and once you get to a certain point, improvement becomes harder. I would just focus on running and seeing what you can do rather than trying to crunch numbers
@@kingsleysc ALSO, I just got home from my first practice like 15 minutes ago. I'm only in 8th grade also. They timed our 100m and I got 12.7 is that a decent time for my first 100m ran?

@@kingsleysc Thank you, that video was really informative. Another question, Do you think I should meet up with my school's track coach soon? I can't join track for another year and I'm not even sure I will be able to, but I want to begin training this summer and would hate to develop improper form. Should I consult him before the school year ends or is that too early in your opinion? Hope this wasn't too specific haha. I would just join the team now but they're doing Cross Country prep and I don't have the time anyways.
Love to see it! Best advice is just to enjoy it and not put any limits or expectations on yourself. Don’t worry about what others are able to accomplish, just challenge and push yourself each day and watch yourself get better each time out
Goodluck As someone who has been doing track for 10 years from the age of 3 I've come to realize it's the mindset and the motivation you have and how much time and energy you put in
I have football tryouts for u16 in 30 days and there’s no track but I been going outside and been doing so much research trying to up my speed, timed suicides, jogged suicides, plyometrics, learned that key component is applying as much force as you can atleast for 10 meters for your acceleration, I’ve been told I was so slow last football season after not playing for 4 years I use to be one of the fastest but last year made me realize how much covid depleted my speed, do you think if I keep going at this rate I’ll become way faster within the 30 days?
i had my first practice today and felt really discouraged when i saw everyone else was passing me when we were doing sprints :/ so i didn’t do well but i’m trying to stay optimistic because maybe i can get better. thanks for the great advice!

i’m 12 and in 7th grade going to try out for track i think in November or when track season start and i’m a beginner but i have asthma
I had asthma as a kid too, you can definitely still excel! All the best
I did track in 6th-7th but I didn’t get to do it last year because of corona but I have asthma all you have to do is practice working on your breathing While you run I do hurdles so I sometimes got out of breath mid air they’ll probably teach you how to stuff
I’m gonna get the right equipment and practice
I love it! Go get it in 2021
i gotta question , i did track and field years ago when i was in elementary school , but after that i never did it again . i never joined a track team in high school & im done college. so where do i start? do i just find a random track team and go from there ? i’m aiming to compete in the track & field for the olympic 2024
I would definitely start by joining a local track club and going from there!
I am gonna try all these tips
all the best
thanks bro. ..
Anytime!
I’ve never done track before, the most experience I have with running was soccer and I stopped a year ago. I’m going into my freshman year now and I was planning on getting a trainer to condition in the fall season. I guess we’ll see how it goes 🤷🏽♀️
Just go out there and have fun. The rest will take care of itself over time if you stay committed 💯
@@kingsleysc Thank you!
IM DOING MINE TODAY-- thanks you for your advice 😙
Good luck🙌🏾
Doing the 1 and 2 mile (maybe 800m) i can run distance at a slow pace but we did simple
6 x 400m and it was TOUGH, especially because im the only distance runner wt my school lol. Cant wait for the next one lol🔥
Nice 👊🏾
Thank you so much Aaron for the tips.
I am Sam and you had a zoom call with are class.
Thank you for your time you are my greatest fan.
And I will follow my dreams and look up to you.
Your class was awesome, wish you guys all the best! Thanks for tuning in 🙏🏾
One tip I have when you are in a track meet is to set your expectations low, Make it your Goal to get 2nd to last or somewhere near the bottom not anywhere near the top if you just started
That’s an interesting take, I’ve never heard that before. Rather than set them low I would say to instead focus on other aspects than where you place
@@kingsleysc In my opinion setting your expectations low helps me control my anxiousness for the events
@@CKdunno if it works for you, do it 👍🏾
I got in the tracks team...😄😁.Im a 100m and 200m runner. Thanks for all your help...I never though I could get in..
That's awesome! Congrats! Just remember to have fun and you'll love it
One thing I've always struggled with are stomach cramps and other stomach related issues while running. Do you have any advice for preventing stomach cramps?
Watch what you eat before you run and try to give yourself more time between running and eating your meals. Try snacking and eating light foods instead
@@kingsleysc thank you so much!
I’m starting track tomorrow. I got interested when people were talking about track and stuff so I wanted to join
Great choice man, enjoy it!
@@kingsleysc thank you! This video helped out a lot btw
In case you can't tell by my pfp, I needed this 😂. Thanks for this video bro, I think it'll really help 😎👍
Lol appreciate you watching!
thanks so much I tested these and I'm going to try out for track
Glad to hear it 💯 keep going
Loved the points. I come from long distance running and lot's of years not running at all. starting again, but this time with Track and Field events. Pacing myself, building myself up. your video was a great intro. Thanks
Welcome back to running, hope you enjoy it 👍🏾
I play football but I’m starting to incorporate this to my workouts and I’m considering joining track my junior year
I highly recommend track for football players so you should go for it
I’m a hooper but I’m starting to build interest in a lot more sports, recently got into football and now track lol
Hah you sound like you’re doing the same thing I did when I started out. Best way to find where you belong is to try everything 💯
@@kingsleyscquick update and football I’ve been getting injured but Track has been something I’ve been enjoying a lottt
@@premiumshifty4l452 Sometimes one sport pushes you into another. If you're having fun in track, I say keep it going!
I started today and got freshman on varsity and everyone passing me and now Im trying to get faster
You can do it 👍🏾 just focus on yourself and take it day by day
Hi, my name is Sharon and I have an 11 year old son.
Appreciate the support! I think you are referring to the 6 reasons you’re not getting faster video. This playlist has various videos that can help: ruclips.net/p/PLAWMT2A1xpHDiGBW3oXLuLYaaRee-2TqB
But I think the best thing you could do is have them join a track club with a good coach in your area. They will be able to give tips specific to your sons athletic build and skill set. Wish you all the best!
great vid man, keep up the work
Thanks!
I’m trying out for track in middle school so I hope this works🤞🏾
Good luck 🤝🏾
I had my first track practice today and I came across this
Nice. Hope it helped 👍🏾
Thank you! :) imma step up my game and start to practice more. Great advice!
You’re welcome. Let’s get it! 🔥
My first practice is tomorrow I’m so excited 😆
You got this 🔥 have fun
Never ran track in my life until this year I just had this random urge to do it.
Long distance is where my jam is. I suck at sprinting as mainly everyone has had prior experience in running for track while I'm new.
That’s awesome man, keep it going 🔥
Wow this guy its pretty cool
Thank you 🙏🏾
So Dope 🔥🔥
Appreciate it 👊🏾
My schools track try outs are in 3 days! I'm pretty good but looking for extra tips!
Good luck, you got this! Just relax and let it flow. Don’t overthink it and try to have fun out there
nice my track and field starts mon.
Boiiss supahothot good luck 👍🏾
Thanks for your advice
Thanks for tuning in 🙏🏾
Great work!
Thanks coach
Lmaooo
Today were my try outs, this is my first time running track. We ran 100meters and I got a time of 18.25, and then we ran the 400 meters. Halfway through the lap my legs felt heavy and my hands as well, and when I finished I was breathing so fast and my feet were hurting so much. I really need tips🙏
Thank you sir for motivate us💪
aditya yadav glad you enjoyed it 👊🏾
Awesome tips!
I was wondering if I can get into track/running at 21 years old? I have played basketball and soccer all my life growing up and i feel like naturally, I am pretty quick. However, I need to get down the techniques and fundamentals. Can I still give it a shot?
Yeah no reason why you can’t start now. Definitely not too late at all
im starting track practice on Monday I have a lot of mixed emotions its the first sport ive ever done and im extremely scared due to me having asthma and its the same way she passed so im gonna step out and show out
I had asthma when I was younger and I know many athletes that still do. You can definitely overcome it. Have your inhaler near by just in case of emergency but overall don't let it hold you back. Good luck!
Where did you get those white Nike spikes🤩? I’m looking for some. How much were they? It would be much help thanks
You can usually buy them at Nike.com but they have a new model out now. Nike superfly elite 2
I just had my first meet today it was really fun I messed up went into someone’s lan twice but it’s okay I’ll get better with time ik I will
Hah it’s all good. Keep running and you’ll keep getting better
today was my first day in track :D
Hope it was a great success 👍🏾
I’m a freshman in high school and I really want to join track in the spring. I have never done cross country or track in the past, so this is my first time. In starting off by attempting to run everyday outside. Is there anything else I should do to prepare?
I might try joining a track club, you're so cool😭😭👉🏽👈🏽
Love it, great choice!
@@kingsleysc ah okay thank you very much for responding! This means a lot!
Thank you so much
Got utterly destroyed the first time I ran 400m last year. Gonna use these to do better this year.
Just keep working, you’ll get better overtime 💯
Hey I have a question for you. How much did you improve through high school. Meaning, what were your freshman or 8th grade times compared to Senior times?
I improved a lot just training and learning what I was doing more and more each year. I ran 11.4 in grade 9 and then 10.37w/10.46 by my senior year
@@kingsleysc I was wondering if I could get your opinion on some calculations I did.
@@kingsleysc alright, thanks. I will be out of my cast by September so I’ll reply back here then with the time I got.
@@imstupidandithinkthat5930 what time did you get?
Tomorrow is my first practice. (First year doing track also.) I'm super excited but super nervous :( great video though. (:
Thank you! Welcome to track and field, all the best with your season. Don’t forget to have fun!
@@kingsleysc ALSO, I just got home from my first practice like 15 minutes ago. I'm only in 8th grade also. They timed our 100m and I got 12.7 is that a decent time for my first 100m ran?
Hannah's Opera Singing absolutely. Keep it going 👍🏾
@@hannah2coolreallyfe Wow great job! I also happen to want to start Track, but I'm a lazy person and have never liked running until I actually realized running is fun a couple weeks ago. I'm hella slow though, but want to improve fast!:)
How’s it going? Today is my first day
When i was younger i joined bcuz im fast but i got tired right away and gave up, i wanna practice for this year
Stick with it and you won’t get as tired. Just need to train 👍🏾
I’ve been a swimmer for 4 years but I’m gonna add track next year haha
Lol good choice, welcome to track and field!
@@kingsleysc thank you! ima bit nervous about it. do you know how often injuries happen and what I can do to prevent them?
@@lemondots2277 unfortunately injuries are always a possibility, but proper technique and good body care can help with it. Check out this video I did on it:
ruclips.net/video/obFo_wsA9Vc/видео.html
@@kingsleysc Thank you, that video was really informative.
Another question,
Do you think I should meet up with my school's track coach soon? I can't join track for another year and I'm not even sure I will be able to, but I want to begin training this summer and would hate to develop improper form. Should I consult him before the school year ends or is that too early in your opinion? Hope this wasn't too specific haha.
I would just join the team now but they're doing Cross Country prep and I don't have the time anyways.
Never too early in my opinion
im going to be trying out for my schools track and field team and this is my first year!! im looking for any tips that will help me :))
Love to see it! Best advice is just to enjoy it and not put any limits or expectations on yourself. Don’t worry about what others are able to accomplish, just challenge and push yourself each day and watch yourself get better each time out
Thanks for the video. I’m just starting from track coming from football. Hope I do ok 😂
Appreciate the comment. Just Stick with it and have fun !
Goodluck
As someone who has been doing track for 10 years from the age of 3 I've come to realize it's the mindset and the motivation you have and how much time and energy you put in
Quick question: When’d u try out?
I tried out in high school
@@kingsleysc same
I have football tryouts for u16 in 30 days and there’s no track but I been going outside and been doing so much research trying to up my speed, timed suicides, jogged suicides, plyometrics, learned that key component is applying as much force as you can atleast for 10 meters for your acceleration, I’ve been told I was so slow last football season after not playing for 4 years I use to be one of the fastest but last year made me realize how much covid depleted my speed, do you think if I keep going at this rate I’ll become way faster within the 30 days?
It’s definitely possible. The best way to ensure that you get faster is to find a speed coach who can help you get there 👍🏾
