Shelton was the only player in both sets who never had his serve broken AND as it should be in doubles, he won the match with a fierce volley. Love this pairing. The BuBenik Plague!

ATP changes to doubles category allow for more singles players to compete. I prefer it. Too many double players are middle aged guys with scruff & pudge who look like office workers on recess.
@@got2bjosh I never understood why so many of the men don't play Singles and Doubles. If the women can do it, why not the men? If more of the top men played, Maybe then more people would care about Doubles and Mixed.
@@666kingdrummer The tours are changing the rules to allow for more singles players in an effort to bring more attention to doubles to justify the 80/20 prize split.

Same. After their tight match in Madrid, the pairing was such an inspired move. Medvedead was practicing on court next to them & was grunting extra loud knowing Bubbles was playing.

@@godz4ever404 I said what I said. Every player gets puns for when they play well & when they don't. Even Shelton. It's not personal. Everyone knows Tiafoe acts a darn fool & is playing like shiitake right now, hence the puns. Plus, he foolishly wore all brown in Houston which combined with the court color make him look like a walking turd on acid.
Meanwhile, Ace is in the comments being a rater & I held him accountable for REAL hatred, but I can't control if comments using certain words get held. All the more reason for me to make up my own. Finally, Toefoe doesn't quite work unless we're talking about a foot injury. Even then I'd be inclined to go with Tiafoot. Regardless, there's always a logic to my wordplay.

Woke up early to watch this juicy pairing. Singles in doubles is much more fun to watch. Otherwise, doubles is just a bunch of middle aged guys with scruff looking like office workers on a lunch break. Shelton took that tight defeat in Madrid & turned it into an opportunity for doubles.
Tennis Tea: Aurally Retort umpired on a terribly unglamorous Court 6, but the stands were PACKED. The first set was gone in a flash as the BuBenik Plague dominated with big serving 6-1, but the rest of the match was much more competitive. Shelton did very well defending his serve & was the only one who lingered after to sign tennis balls.
Medvedead was practicing on the adjacent court & was grunting SO loudly, Ben got distracted on serve & asked why is he doing that. Shelly still held though. All four guys were laughing about the obnoxious grunting during the changeover.
Both Tiafool & Bubbly surrendered their service games late in the 2nd to ultimately force a tiebreak. Even though FAAT attack rallied to swipe the 2nd set, BuBenik regrouped to lead in the deciding tiebreak. Truthfully, things were tight from 5 all in the 2nd, but BuBenik showed they had the bigger, more consistent weapons. It was a fun match! Conversely, Fraul was unable to maul the Argentinians in the following match.
What a tough rooting quandary - Bublik and Big Foe, two of my favorites, along with the ultimate underperformer and Big Baby. Still looked like a great match, and would love to see more singles guys tearing up the doubles ranks.
Child, please. The crowd was packed and chanting for Shelton who was never broken & won the match with his volley. Even with the asterisk, FAA still reached the finals in Madrid. Tiaflop is the one underperforming, so throw your cornball shade away.
@@got2bjosh Madrid is the outlier for FAA, not the standard, and involved 2 retirements and a walkover to get him to that final. He has the talent to be in the top 10 and probably has more upside than Tiiafoe, but hasn't brought his mental game to the necessary level yet. As for Shelton, great talent and horrible personality, although he did just improve in my estimation due to Bublik liking him enough to be his doubles partner.

Ain't no one trying to touch Turdfoe right now. He is flopulous. The BuBenik Plague is a good pairing. They both have big serves & Bubbly has amazing hands at net. Shelly is trying to up his return prowess, so it's a smart pairing. Ben won the match with a volley!

@@aca2077 In Madrid, Bubbly beat Shelly in a tight 3 setter before getting dusted by Meddy who he pre-injured with lots of drop shots. BuBenik had a lovely moment at net where game recognized game & now they've teamed up for Rome.
