A good battle. Good win for Tiafoe.
What happened to Borna? Two years ago Borna won a masters title in Cincinnati. Borna serve isn't big and he seems to play too safe. He doesn't play aggressive tennis.

really curious why frances changed from wayne ferreria? that coach helped him develop an all court game. the new team doesn't seem to have made any changes in his game at all...
and for coric, i'm not sure why he switched to a racquet with less power when he wasn't even hitting that big with that frame to begin with? now his shots are even softer and shorter. really confused about frances and borna's changes.
Simple. He had a horrible '23 season (but that's his fault). Star coaches are expensive when you're flopping, so they parted ways. There have been changes. They've fixed the racket swing on his serve.
I hope Frances' new coach can fix all of his techniques. Then he can start thinking about winning big tournaments.
@@WestCoastOutdoors He’s too old at this point to implement changes that will suddenly see a shift in results. He’s part of the lost generation. Tiafoe is overrated & will continue to be top 20 at best until he permanently declines further down the rankings.
@@got2bjosh afraid that you may be right. i do think improving the 2nd serve shouldn’t be too difficult even at his age. he literally just needs to be more aggressive on it and try making it kick wider on the ad side
Good win for FT but Coric seems a shell of himself vs. when he won his Masters 1000. His mental toughness was not there.

Fritz & Tiafoe both doing their job & not flopping out in R1. USA thank you! Aside from that garbage 4th set where he DF games away, Tiafoe played well. See what happens when you'e actually disciplined & put in the work to win. His team kept him focused & training hard the week before & it made a difference. Borneo was rusty & not match tough enough. Plus, he has a horrible record there anyway.
Borna’s game is very similar to Andy Murray in my opinion.
It’s defensively but ironically low percentage at the pro level.
Good to see him back though.
