This is built in Japan in one of the best auto shops of all time. This car is built in the same plant with the same standards as 100k plus cars. Great buy if you ask me
As a former Lexus owner - I love when you and Zack review Lexus vehicle. It actually great to watch the review of this UX cause my mother might buy a Lexus UX or NX after her lease on the Mercedes Benz ends.
My wife owns the UX 250h AWDe “luxury package” she loves it, we’re empty nesters. Here are a few facts about this vehicle. -the first gear on the CVT it’s an actual mechanical gear. - it is not an SUV, you can call it anything you want but this vehicle is a hatchback. - even tho this car is a hybrid it’s not a slow car. It can stay quite close behind a “fast”vehicle. -you can fold down the rear seats for extra cargo space and leave it that way since only 2 people are going to be riding in the car most of the time if not all of the time. -the rear electric motor helps to accelerate the vehicle from stand point. -it’s loaded with enough technology to keep you confused that many people are never going to use to it’s fullest. My wife being one of them.
I agree with you about it being a hatchback. I own a 2017 Mazda3 hatchback and the dimensions of this UX struck me as being very similar. I'm guessing the Mazda probably has more trunk space though.
The UX250 h hybrid power train uses an E - CVT transmission, this is the epicyclip cvt set up & it doesn't have a mechanical launch gear. The new NON hybrid Toyota CVT transmission is the one that has the mechanical launch gear.
I would disagree with their description of the cargo area. I went from an RX to a UX Hybrid, and even though the initial presentation of the cargo area seems tiny, there's a multi-level storage system underneath, along with intelligently laid out cubbies on either side. Plus, this is the only Lexus where the seats lay perfectly flat, and it's extremely easy to plop them down - even from the rear. I have been extremely pleased with the usability of the space.
I got one after seeing this review. Thanks for your thorough and honest look at the UX. Love the trackpad and love driving a Lexus for the reliability.
I got a call from the dealer that said one of these just came up, and I'll test drive it tomorrow. I found this video pretty helpful, and I expect the test drive to go well, even if it's a little quirky and something you'll need to get used to. I'll find out soon!

I have watched other reviews of this suv, and all have said that it has a small trunk, but you have to realize that it is a small suv. If it was a large or mid size suv and it had a trunk space like the UX then you can say it is small. just my opinion, with a small suv you will get everything a bit smaller.

Similar experience here re our UXh. We routinely got 5.0-5.3L/100km city during summer. The official 5.7L/100km city leans more towards our winter driving when snow tires are on and avg outside temp is -10 ~ -15c with the heater often at the high setting. IMHO, this is insane city fuel economy when every competitor in the same luxury subcompact segment is officially rated at nearly double the fuel burn of the UXh(Their power output is no where near double of the UXh though...). Though we find the highway consumption is consistently dead on at the official 6.2L/100km rating. I can attest this little crossover is specifically optimized for urban stop n go traffic where its hybrid system makes the biggest gain in fuel burn savings.

Hi Andrea and Zack. I have a question. Do you agree the push on EV cars? I have only UK data. Do you have Canada's data? If UK wants to reach 2050 goal to all EV cars, they need to produce just under two times the annual world COBALD production, nearly the entire world's production of NEODYMIUM, three-quarters of the world's LITHIUM productions, and at least half of the world's copper production. Run flat tires.... The Automotive world indication that they built the car so small you cannot fit a spare tire in it. Unless you live in Vancouver run flat tires are a disaster in the prairies and eastern Canada. They are so noisy and rock hard they almost knock your teeth out. All three sets were gone of my Mini Coopers at 20,000 KM they don't last and at $100-150 extra a tire they are not worth it. I carry a Tire plug kit and a compressor in all three cars!!!! Most tire shops will tell you if you have to replace a run flat it's a special order. So you end up stuck in the middle of nowhere waiting for a tire to be shipped to the shop.

It's just Toyota with different badge 😛
That's like saying a Porsche is just a VW with a different badge which is technically true re the Cayenne vs Touareg.
