How can 187 people dislike this? I don't care if you don't like Lady Gaga. Listen to it. LISTEN. There's a really beautiful message. So it's a cover of John Lennon, and you might prefer that version, but that doesn't mean that this isn't good. The mention of Matthew Shepard, the new verse... This is one of the most powerful displays of empathy out there. It's incredibly disappointing to discover that people aren't willing to take the song's message to heart just because it's Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga, one of greatest artist that will ever grace this earth but also the artist of our generation that gets undeserved backlash for standing up for what she believes in. The funny thing is, she could care less what you think as you couldn’t play one of those phrases as musically as she did.

I love this take! Lennon wrote the lyrics to express his vision at the time and she only ADDED lyrics to make it apply to the new era. We were at war then and we're at war now and GaGa addresses issues today she thinks are relevant. As far as the change in the music, she's basically telling us that this song inspired her to write "Speechless" which everyone who listens to her should know Lennon is one her idols
