    Thank you for the review. Convince Arendal Sound to send these over to Erin for review and klippel analysis. If they command the price premium, then they should at least be analyzed for performance via Klippel and objective analysis along with graphs for in room response.

      What Erin does in his reviews is great but you have to be aware of how your own tastes compare to his. He likes a flat response and even a rolled off response for his own listening preferences. Not everyone likes that so while his data is awesome and extremely helpful I don’t blindly follow his recommendations because I know my tastes are different from his. Remember that audio is subjective because everyone’s hearing is different so there is no absolute right or wrong when it comes to es to audio. Either you like it or you don’t and no RUclipsr can tell you what you like. You have to determine that for yourself.

      @808lublabs4 I do not disagree with you. I enjoy the value of seeing tangible data along with perspective and experience.
      The data is a way to "see" what is going on with a speaker along with someone's audible explanation.
      If I am being honest, I find value in both with the summation allowing for a complete picture of what I am potentially purchasing. What Amir, Erin and Dave do along with the information on spinorama provide a full evaluation. In other words, does what is being said match or coincidence with the measurements?

    Good stuff. It would be helpful if you could show some simple in room REW measurements. Also comparisons would be helpful too. They're clearly going after Perlisten. You also have JTR so easy to compare to those too.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 дня назад +1

      I’ve never measured speakers before, only subwoofers. Maybe we can do that when Gene and Don come over. I have REW and UMIK-2, I’m just not sure about best mic placement, REW settings etc.
      Nothings easy to compare when the speakers weigh 175ls each 😀. But I would like to bring them in the Theater Room to see how they sound. There’s not a way to do a direct comparison between the JTR because the JTR are behind my screen, and the 1528 would be in front of the screen.
      The Tower 8 will dig much lower than my 212HTR, but they are designed to be paired with a sub, which my RS2’s handle down to 5Hz in my setup.
      But after I listen to the 1528 in my theater room with my RS2’s, I should have a good idea of their capability for Home Theater compared to my 212HTR’s.

  • @gingerbaker1
    @gingerbaker1 4 дня назад +4

    Arendal's own frequency response tracing for the 1528s show that the speakers are down 7db at 30 Hz. That, to me, is unacceptable in a $10,000 speaker pair. Meanwhile, the SVS Pinnacles, which get rave reviews, are 24Hz to 20,000 Hz +/- 3db and at half the price.

I will admit my biggest pet peeve though is reviewers saying “these sound better than some speakers that cost twice as much”. It’s a throw away comment with no specifics or context assigned to it and is in almost every RUclips review. Please tell me the $20,000 speaker this surpasses.

    First, thanks for the review. I was surprized to hear that the speakers produced any bass under those circumstances. You stated that they're playing into an open dining roon which is open to a kitchen, 10ft ceilings, underpowered and then cranked them for bass response😲??? Even with those challenges the speakers did not break-up or distort from lack of power. The amp ran out gas before the speakers, if i understood you correctly. When you said that you wanted to test the full range abiliities i just knew you were going to feed those beasts some real powahhh. Audioholics tested the perlisten s7t ($16,000pr) and fed them 600w each. It sounds like these 1528's would pressurize any normal listening room, regardless of size? I've listened to the 1723 thx, and although i thoroughly enjoyed it, i wondered what they would sound like with a dedicated midrange driver. I heard Gene (audioholics) mention that the 5" driver in the 1528 is better suited than the dual 8's of the 1728. My apolohies for rambling.... I really enjoyed your review!

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 дня назад

      Thanks Timothy. Even in an open concept home, you can still get tactile bass, it just won't be near as much in a dedicated theater room with room gain. The Perlisten S7t's are not going to be able to fully pressurize my living room either. Yes, the Outlaw Audio amp ran into protection so that was the limiting factor, not the speakers. When Rusty and Matt visit next week, he will bring his Buckeye Amps to let me borrow.

      Absolutely not. My JTR subs are flat to 5Hz. We measured the towers down to 20Hz.

    One issue I see with this line is the mis-matched sensitivities. The towers are nearly 90db efficient and the rest of the line hovers around 85db. Distracted? How so? Arendal stated the 1528 Tower 8's can run as full range speakers. Full range means full range, whether it's used for music or movies. So I was curious to see how well they performed for both without a sub in my living room. Also, in a previous poll on my channel, two thirds of my audience stated they do not have a dedicated Home Theater. Most are going to use a subwoofer, but for any review, you want to review them on their own merit, not being supported by a subwoofer. When Gene measures the speaker's frequency response, will he include a subwoofer? Nope. So how is it that I "got distracted" with this review? As stated in the video, I believe EVERY 2ch and multi-channel system will benefit from adding a subwoofer.

      Which is why I reached out to Rusty to borrow his Buckeye amps, although I don’t think it will make that much a difference, it just won’t go into protection mode. Outlaw Audio makes solid amps. Most people would not be able to accurately discern the difference from it and a high end amp unless it was being driven beyond its capability.

    A new review! This means the Lord has delivered you and your friends and family from the storm! So thankful for his abundant mercies! Still praying for all affected by the storm and its aftermath along with all the service people tirelessly working to restore communities to "normal" if I can use that term.
    I also like the look of inverted surrounds/dust caps, like my Paradigms, that I'm gonna stick with! 😂 Waiting on my Monitor SE8000's in gloss white!!!!!!
    The Greatest Showman has SO many good tracks!!!

      Yes, we are grateful. We did not have any damage from the storm. I posted on the community a while back with an update and also made a video on it. Check it out here - ruclips.net/video/LuLpgN0HwQM/видео.htmlsi=ZJVvvVtOkNZWJsxL

      I've been keeping up with your shorts and videos. We were in Orlando almost a year ago and I can't believe the change Milton must have inflicted. God bless you and yours!

    The problem of this hobby is you end up spending thousands of dollars to enjoy a few great scenes in the same movies, over and over again. Thousands of dollars to collectively watch scenes that are no more than a few minutes long. The cost benefit rule really goes out the window with this hobby. I have owed everything under the sun and it’s rear if not non existent that you get a complete movie that can you the type of enjoyment expressed in this review. It’s just a few scenes per a few movies. Everyone knows the usual suspect of scenes and movies

      I don’t know about you but I actually watch movies. The only time I watch my “go to scenes” are when giving demos to friends that have not heard my setup.
      IMO, every movie doesn’t have to be “demo material” to be enjoyable. Movies like The Pursuit of Happiness, The Lord of the Rings, Hamilton, National Treasure, Logan, Prates of the Caribbean, are fantastic, but are not on my Kaleidescape demo script when guests come over.
      The purpose of a home theater is to provide an opportunity for us to temporarily be transformed from this world into another reality that is not our own. To relive that experience through film.

    Sorry for the second post but i just want to give a little shout out to an actress and youtube personality who stars in Grand Tourismo...Emelia Hartford...she basically started from nothing, attacked by depression, but she's overcome that and her channel has exploded, from building and racing/drifting cars, to getting her third shop amd partnerships with Chevy and Cadillac! She has a foundation that raises awareness and funds for mental health and built one of the first, and fastest, new C8 twin turbo Corvettes...yes BEFORE GM put turbos on factory mid engine 'vettes! She's a great personality and watching her succeed over the years is a joyful watch.
