Thanks, great video. We've all probably done spark plug work before but you have added some very helpful extra tips and techniques. I will certainly investigate ultrasonic cleaning baths. My red 2009 Grande 1.4 has a similar paint issues to the car in your garage! The top clear-coat has started to peel away, particularly on the bonnet. A video on what the options are to repair this would be very useful.

Unfortunately the only real methods for dealing with the paint is to have it repainted, if it is only the bonnet that is effected on your car then it may be a lot cheaper to repair but for me the whole car has paint damage to ever panel.

This may be true in the UK and Europe but a huge number of people who watch my videos come from places where getting hold of spare parts such as the correct spark plugs, isn’t always easy.

@@PuntoHowtoI never actually thought of that. Punto was the best selling car in Europe at one time.

And also car of the year in the 1990s, while the mk2 was also technically brilliant and the grande looked like nothing else in the small car sector of the 2000s is sad to see it so neglected by Fiat ever since

NGK plugs should ALWAYS come boxed with a cardboard tube preventing earth electrode damage. Always check at the motor factors and if not don't buy them!

Thanks for your comment, your experience and your expertise!! In this case these plugs looked like they had been on a shelf for a very long time only 2 out of the 4 had their tubes.

I'd like an ultrasonic cleaner but think every time I'd want to use it my parts would be too big for whatever one I bought! Also you should check those old HT leads for resistance with your multimeter to see if they are still ok. I'd say 2-4k ohms (5-8k per meter) would be ok, if they are 8k+ then you are loosing spark strength.
