To this day Larry Bird is in MJ's Top 3! I think because Bird is the Only One he Never beat! Lol. He has a lot of respect for Larry Bird... with good reason.
Legendary basketball coach Pat Riley was once quoted saying "If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game, I'd choose Michael Jordan," Pat said. "If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life, I'd take Larry Bird."
The 80s. Imagine a time when you turn on the TV and you might see Bird, or Magic and Kareem, or Jordan, Olajuwon, old Dr J and young Charles Barkley, all those legends.
U can say the same about the 2000s with Duncan, shaq and Kobe, Iverson, lebron, dwade, KG, tmac, Carter. My two favorite eras (well besides my bulls dominance in the 90s)
hitting a game winning buzzer beater only to find out it didn't count because your coach called time, and then hitting the game winning buzzer beater again has got to be one of the most clutch things to ever happen
that dr. j story goes like this. through the whole game, every time larry hit a basket, he kept the score between himself and dr. j. he was saying it like "20-6, 23-6, etc". J got so mad at this, they actually started fighting on the court.
I recommend watching the documentary about the relationship between Larry and Magic. It is an hour and a half long so you don't need to do a reaction, but I think you will enjoy it. The title is Magic vs. Bird: Courtship of Rivals.
When the greatest trash talkers of all time say Bird was the best, that should tell you something. Gary Payton, Reggie Miller. Jordan says he learned everything he knew about trash talking from Bird. He was the greatest trash talker of all time. Because it wasn't in-your-face. It was calm, matter of fact, here's what I going to do and you can't stop it.
An absolute must see is the HBO documentary Magic and Bird: A Courtship of Rivals. It shows the start of one of the greatest rivalries in basketball and ends in one of the greatest friendships. A lot of reactors will break it up into 4 or 5 segments and a few will run the whole thing. It's arguably one of the best sports documentary's.
the back story of Larry's left handed game was basically one whole game of his trash talking mentality, the blazers had beaten them in their last matchup that season which was the ONLY loss the Celtics had at home that entire season which is still an all-time NBA home record of 40-1, bird was out for vengeance so he played them left handed just to prove his dominance. When the reporters asked Bird after the game why he played left handed Bird quipped: "I'm saving my right hand for the Lakers tomorrow".😄 Classic Bird wit.
here's the thing about that pistons story that dwight howard was saying. the person guarding bird in that game was a young dennis rodman who was already a tough defender. so when he was saying "who's guarding me? i'm wide open", he was saying that about rodman. bird then went to the coach of the pistons and said "coach, you gotta get someone out here to guard me because if nobody's guarding me, i'm going for 30". all while rodman was standing right there.
MANY NBA greats have agreed Larry was in deed the king of trash talking - but his manner was so calm and even he did it without even raising his voice etc. - making it get under ones skin just that much more.
@@DNReacts Bird may not have been athletic like Jordan, but he used every tool in his arsenal (including Trash Talk) to beat the best players in the league. When you can say what you are going to do, then deliver, it puts fear and respect into your opponents.
The best shit talker ever. The world's have to collide. You have to have the talent and the ability to trash talk and do it in the big moments. Great reaction guys
I was not a Bird Fan back them because I was a 76's fan. But now, looking back he was the best player of his time and taking in every factor likely the best ever. In a shortened career he accomplished so much. I have total respect for his determination. His tenacity. His BB IQ. And, he was MVP, Exec of the Year and Coach of the year. He's the only one to do that. Great reaction. Thanks to you both!
He also was pretty legend with the fighting--on court and off. He did not back down from anyone. By all accounts, he was in a league of his own with respect to trash talking. There are so many videos with former players about their interactions with him.
I was a huge Celtics fan and watched Bird his entire career. It makes me so happy to see all these tribute videos; he really was that great. The game where the Atlanta players were falling all over was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. I have to day, the two guys I had the two opponents I had the most respect for were Barkley and Dominique. Especially Dominque, he always brought it against the Celtics.
Thanks for sharing more of my favorite player, Larry Bird!! He’s so amazing!! It never gets old seeing videos about him!! His passing game video is more than AMAZING!! You did one on the King’s player recently, but Larry was better!!! I think Jason took a page out of Larry Bird’s book, who came before him. The “Hick from French Lick,” had it all!! Thanks guys! I love your reactions!!
A bit surprised to see you back (so soon) with Larry Bird, but by no means complaining. Without a doubt, he’s my favorite NBA star to watch, largely because of the breadth of his skills, the level of team play, and the confidence he exudes. For someone with such a killer instinct, Bird nevertheless seems largely grounded. I’d be hard-pressed to come up with a former coach, player (whom he coached) or teammate who has a beef (complaint) with him. A story Bird tells that comes to mind had Red Auerbach talking personnel and possible trades with Bird, Kevin McHale and Celtic guard Danny Ainge. Ainge (who during his years in team management has had a reputation for wheeling and dealing) shared with Auerbach how the Celtics might benefit from trading Bird or McHale (who by that time we’re dealing with chronic injuries from their style of plays including playing hurt). I’ve seen many fans lay in on Ainge in comments, but notably Bird is matter of fact when he discusses this incident, noting the mutual loyalty of Auerbach, Bird and McHale, and seemingly comfortable with Ainge speaking up in the context with Auerbach. Bird is easy to respect. Thanks again for posting your reaction to Bird.
Have you guys done a Julius Erving (Dr. J) highlight reel? Back in the 70s and 80s, he was a constant, highlight reel. He started in the old ABA with the New Jersey Nets. When the two leagues merged, he had the opportunity to go to the Philadelphia 76ers, because they had drafted him in the NBA, when he chose to play for the team that drafted him in the ABA. The 76ers were already a good team. He made them great. They were in 4 finals between '77-'83, finally winning in '83. When he was still with the Nets, he made a move one night, that the world had never seen before. As my memory sees it right now, Dr. J was going in for a right-handed lay up, with defenders in the way. The Doc was known for holding the ball in one hand (I think he created the Whirlie-Bird Dunk). That's how he was going through the air. He was holding the ball high, in his right hand. Suddenly he pulled the ball down, seemingly changing direction while in the air. He got behind the backboard, and put the ball in, while reaching out and laying the ball in, on the opposite side of the rim. The move was talked about for days, long before the internet days.

Let me give you an analogy I think will draw the real parallel for you. Larry Bird is Jamie Vardy. It’s not enough that he cooks his opponent, he has to get into people’s heads while he does it.
For those that think Larry Bird was not as good as he really was and never had the chance to see him play this comment is for you. Remember in this comment I am just highlighting Larry's NBA accomplishments. Little know thing about Larry to those that never saw him play , he could effect the outcome of a game and never take a shot thats how devastating his passing skills were. Here is one thing that most fans (people) either don't know or try to ignore, prior to Larry joining the NBA there was no such thing as a three point line, that came in when Bird was starting his first year of his NBA career. Just think about it, what would todays game be without the three point line or if the line was one foot farther out like it was when it was first introduced. Food for thought. At that time it was not about the individuals stats it was about the win. But if you need some stats here you go: Here are some of Larry Bird's notable career achievements and statistics: Three-time NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986); Two-time NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986); Three-time NBA MVP (1984-86); 12-time NBA All-Star (1980-88, 1990-92); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88); All-NBA Second Team (1990); Three-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team (1982-84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); NBA All-Rookie Team (1980); Three-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion (1986-88); Career-high in points: 60 (March 12, 1985) -- tied for franchise record with Jayson Tatum; Named NBA Coach of the Year (1998); and Named NBA Executive of the Year (2012). Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons. Career averages: 24.3 points per game 10.0 rebounds per game 6.3 assists per game 88.6% free throw percentage 49.6% field goal percentage 37.6% 3-point percentage Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season James Worthy, who played against both Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, said, I'd much rather play. against Michael Jordan than Larry Bird. Jordan made you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid.

Checkout the videos of mj vs bird. Mj had a hard time beating the Celtics in the playoffs. Mj is 0 and 6. Even in mj’s best season he count win. Check it out.
I remember those battles with bird, magic and Isiah Thomas. Nothing like it in the NBA now. Rules has softened these game and don't see the passion. Still can't watch Bird's highlights lol
Don't care that I'm not the first one still the third one and there is some amazing football on and Damo F you for Thursday ( JK) Will get revenge on Thanksgiving
Bird is one of the only guys Jordan never got the better of. In their 2 playoff series vs each other, Bird swept him 3-0 twice despite Jordan setting the playoff scoring record with 63 points in one of those games only watch Bird pot the game winner in overtime lol Even late in Bird's career when MJs Bulls were starting to win championships and Bird's Celtics were a shadow of their former selves, Bird was still beating MJ. There's a famous picture of a 34 year old Bird hitting the game winning shot through a Jordan/Pippin doubleteam. Jordan had a rule for his Bull's that no one was allowed to talk to Bird when they played because MJ said it's hard enough to beat Bird as it is, getting him fired up even more won't help lol At Bird's retirement MJ said you're retiring after a great career...good, I'm glad i no longer have to see your face. You ruined a lot of my great games vs the Celtics over the years lol
This video always pisses me off when it gets to Dr J. They don't tell the whole damn story. There was a huge fight, you can see the photo of J with his hand squeezing Bird's throat, Bird reaching at him, half the damn 6ers team is grabbing Bird. It started because as Bird was torching J he was counting their scoring totals. That's why he says he was up whatever to whatever. He was telling Dr. J the whole game. Dude was absolutely amazing. He is the GOAT. I think God I existed, and got to see at least a little Bird NBA era live.
Mike truly respects Larry Legend. Thats where he learned how to talk trash, get on the opponents head and beat them mentally. Mj got a 6-0 record in the finals but his 0-6 in the playoffs against Larry. Even James Worthy, one of the Lakers big 3 said i would rather guard Mj than Larry

Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons.
Career averages:
24.3 points per game
10.0 rebounds per game
6.3 assists per game
88.6% free throw percentage
49.6% field goal percentage
37.6% 3-point percentage
Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season
James Worthy, who played against both Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, said, I'd much rather play. against Michael Jordan than Larry Bird. Jordan made you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid.
this is why he is top 5 greatest ever
💯
You like trash talking you should watch “30 for 30: Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks” great documentary and Reggie one of the best trash talkers in the NBA
Smart tiger 90
It’s insane that we haven’t had another American white player even in the same realm as Larry Bird.
Loved the reaction guys! Dennis Rodman or on the hockey end of stuff Marchant is the all time leading over time game winning goal scorer, and the biggest face licking d-bag on the planet
Thank you as always, love this! 🙏🔥

Appreciate the suggestion, thank you 🙏
You guys should watch Allen Iverson he was the OG ankle breaker and he was so good he was only around 5 foot 10 inches without shoes yet won the MVP in a league filled with giants he is relatable due to his size.
Coming out tomorrow!

@@DNReactsalso I want to say that you guys should react to Russel Westbrook too maybe a video on his most vicious dunks he was a shorter player who dunked as powerful as LeBron
If you’re looking for some bball comedy just listen to the beside of Inside the NBA or best of Charles Barkley & Shaq on Inside the NBA
Checkout the videos of mj vs bird. Mj had a hard time beating the Celtics in the playoffs. Mj is 0 and 6. Even in mj’s best season he count win. Check it out.
Check out his passing!
I remember those battles with bird, magic and Isiah Thomas. Nothing like it in the NBA now. Rules has softened these game and don't see the passion. Still can't watch Bird's highlights lol
Watch fifteen minutes of bird is the word
Larry owns jordan
Don't care that I'm not the first one still the third one and there is some amazing football on and Damo F you for Thursday ( JK) Will get revenge on Thanksgiving
Haha, unlucky Thursday, I did mean to mention! Look forward to the next one 🤞
Bird is one of the only guys Jordan never got the better of.
In their 2 playoff series vs each other, Bird swept him 3-0 twice despite Jordan setting the playoff scoring record with 63 points in one of those games only watch Bird pot the game winner in overtime lol
Even late in Bird's career when MJs Bulls were starting to win championships and Bird's Celtics were a shadow of their former selves, Bird was still beating MJ. There's a famous picture of a 34 year old Bird hitting the game winning shot through a Jordan/Pippin doubleteam.
Jordan had a rule for his Bull's that no one was allowed to talk to Bird when they played because MJ said it's hard enough to beat Bird as it is, getting him fired up even more won't help lol
At Bird's retirement MJ said you're retiring after a great career...good, I'm glad i no longer have to see your face. You ruined a lot of my great games vs the Celtics over the years lol
Also you guys should react to Zion Williamson but do his High school mixtape he was a tank
Appreciate the suggestion, thank you 🙏
No worries love your videos guys
Jordan was not dominant against Bird even in regular season. Bird was 6-0 vs Jordan in playoffs.
Bird > Bron
Jordan never beat Larry Bird.
