This is Awesome! The one that struck me the most was the Purity Supreme Ad! It's been years since I've seen that. Thanks for Posting! We got WBZ up here in Central New Hampshire then as now.
That Suffolk Downs commercial is great I do remember it! If you look closely of course you can spot Red Aurebach, John Havlicek, Willie Mays, I think I spotted Russ Francis. There are probably more athletes in it that I'm not aware of.
It sure was. I remember my folks buying me toys there. I think Caldor bought the company in the 80s. Then, shortly after that I believe it went out of business.
I so miss these days. The days before this newer generation of spoiled, lazy and very DISRESPECTFUL children. The days before cell phones and internet.

You couldn't accuse that store of not having enough strawberries in stock!
Oh,I remember Zayre! I found the 2 decks of playing cards that I got from Zayre on eBay!
EML77 TV Take another look!
I actually have a Shoe Horn from Zayre. Haha. Someone was selling a big box of them at a Flea Market in New Hampshire. They're bright Orange!
0:00 Boston and New York City radio listeners will recognize the voice of Dick Summer.

Zayre, the Target of the Seventies.

Zayre made K-Mart look like Nordstrom.
I disagree. Zayre had a little more prestige than K-Mart. Community and K-Mart may have been neck-&-neck. Venture was probably closer to Walmart.
Where DID those basic values go?
It's been years since I heard that Purity Supreme commercial!
Oh my, this was clipped off the front of their 70th Anniversary show? Did you post the 70th Anniversary show? :-)

That wasn’t Mrs. B.
Mrs B always sounded like she smoked 2 packs of cigs a day.
That means she’s dirty
It was the Washington DC version of Mrs B. No it was not the one we were used to seeing.
