Considering price and reliability the Aerovees lead.
Considering power and reliability and price Viking130 is far ahead. How about prop diameter? Can we raise/extend the landing gear for more prop clearance or prop diameter for a real 130Hp engine? Any sugestions?

A six cylinder aerovee would be a game changer!!! No jabarp's or even ul!

That would be a Corvair motor, and several have been built and are very successful. A bit heavy, but doable. Not preferred by Sonex though. William Wynne & Dan Weseman are the only folk to consider, others have nowhere near the experience or credentials.

I am into racing and I know a lot about motors but I’m looking to keep it affordable

For affordable, you are not going to beat the sonex. If you get the quick build you are still well under most other projects.

AeroVee or Jab3300. That is what you should put in the sonex.
