From all accounts, these planes fly with excellent 'sensitivity' without being twitchy. Smaller than your average 2 seater, lighter- sports car like looks & handling (and cockpit sizing) it can be powered with a converted VW engine. Hmmm, about the same price of a new car with some bells & whistles and you build it yourself. You are the A & P, you perform regular maintenance and fly it within your allowable tolerances. Nice to hear about it from the original designer and better understand his philosophy about what it is & what need it fills.
I wish I could follow through and complete such a complex project! I'm intensely interested until I'm not- it's a fault that I have not overcome even in middle age! But, for those who can- what a great value!

Would really like to have a Onex with the "Y" tail.

Hello. I wonder how this plane behaves in rainy weather. How the profile of its wing flies if you get caught in a downpour. What is the crosswind limit on the runway?

Too bad the JSX is the only Sonex Aircraft model with factory support for a BRS. The Waiex would be great for a similar solution.

Isn’t there a need for backup analog type gauges in case those electronic panels fail? At least air speed, altitude, rpm, rate of climb and compass? Maybe not I don’t know

I am just coming across this video. I have been interested in a Sonex for some time and this model makes it much more attractive. Is it possible to fit these with a ballistic parachuute?

I too was wondering the same thing. I'm new to the market for an entry-level plane. At 57:15 he says no since its dangerous, and also nixes the folding wing for the B-option, but mentions at 62:30 that the wings remove easily. Of course that was when it first came out - per the other comment, it seem somebody has done a chute at least. It will be interesting to see if they come out with a new model designed for the upcoming USA Mosaic standards.

Appropriate for four (4) VW engines with one (1) G inflating seats..

It's too bad that the jet can't be configured for tandem or side by side seating. Beyond that, I'm sure that a 4 place jet would sell like hot cakes.

This is the only company I know that advertise how bad their planes are by stating off by reminding everyone their CEO died in one.

If you go about trying to buy a plane nobody has died in, then you probably won't be flying anytime soon. We make it as safe as possible but there is a risk being taken when you fly. If it makes you feel any better. The crash was found to be pilot error. The NTSB says he decided to take-off at an intersection. He would have otherwise had enough time to glide back to the runway. Instead, he had stalled over some parked cars. Engine failures happen and have little to do with the pilot. Even Rotax have MANY reported failures in flight.
