I am a South African and HUGE Springbok supporter. I think Dan became an absolute respected and big time favourite amongst Bok supporters for his sportsmanship and beautiful character on and off the field.
I was a kid when SA was smashing Wales on a regular basis. They were almost considered a tier 2 rugby nation. But how they have improved their rugby to get back to their glory days has been amazing! The Welsh are a truly tough team to play now and feel like they are always just a great moment away from being at the top.
Fantastic show. Dan Biggar is a classy man and a great representative of not only Welsh Rugby, but Rugby as a whole. Hope the Boks can keep him quiet this weekend. May the best team win this weekend.
As a South African I enjoyed watching this, but couldn't help to feel sorry for Dan. He seems like a very authentic guy and I have a lot of respect for him. Thanks for sharing these conversations WR!
As a Bok fan, I have to say that Wales are a very tough opponent and have nothing but respect for the way they defend and stay in the fight to the bitter end. The 2015 qf and the 2019 semi could easily have gone Wales' way. I love that the game means as much to Wales as it does to South Africa. Respect and honour! 💯
Dan great captain of Wales..much respect to you and your career..thank you for your work in terms of rugby. And great game when you beat our springboks.🤙🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🔥
I love this video format! Please keep the episodes coming! And as a Springbok supporter, Dan Biggar is a terrifying force on the field. True legend, but really scary when he's the opposition.
@@WorldRugby There's such a huge list to pick from, but any rugby legends will do. Hearing from legends like Richie McCaw, Bakkies Botha, George Gregan etc. commenting on any of their more difficult games would be interesting, but I'm also interested in hearing from non-Tri nations legends like Mamuka Gorgodze, Sébastien Chabal, Brian O'Driscoll etc.
Omg as a South African I remember this try so well, and looking at you Welshman having to relive this moment, almost makes me feel like a Welshman too, cause I know how it feels when one's team is on the receiving end, it's nothing less than horrible. But that's what rugby is about right lol?
Enjoyed this video. The great thing about rugby for me is that you can be a staunch Bok supporter, however enjoy following the opposition. Dan Biggar you are one of the best.
Great interview. Dan's a phenomenal player, and seems like a really decent bloke. I almost want to apologise for SA beating him twice in consecutive World Cups.
If you must know, a general stat of South African rugby is that they play defensive, and if the opportunities present themselves to go and get points but normally the aim of their game is to see the opposition in their game during the first half and then figure out weaknesses so that in the second half they are A for Away. That's why in the 2015 game they looked a little down and out. But came back to win the game.
Respect to Dan from a South African rugger lover....at the "coffin dodger" stage in life!! 😁😄As with any team, you guys have BIG names to emulate...many that have sadly moved on off this earthly plane. For instance in 1974 I was 14 years old, no telly in South Africa. It was a case of ears glued to a radio. I am talking about Willy John"s Lions side tour to South Africa. Man..oh man, Wales had some LEGENDS in that side, make no mistake.
That was the end for Wales after the England match, with all those terrible injuries.....and Tom Wood's kick to Liam William's head deserved another look, so to speak......
First they name themselves after a sea animal and now they’re doing tribe dances before kicking a penalty, they’re basically African!!! - Those were my sister’s exact words while watching this game back in 2015😂 We were happy to defeat Wales though, but the rest of that tournament was a disaster
We had to see the DEATH of the Springboks, in order to be resurrected. We Springbok supporters have a love/hate relationship with our team. If you wear the green and gold, you are expected to play 120%
@@dude9318 I think they did. In the two years or so leading into 2018, the Springboks were dismal. They couldn't buy a win and even lost to Italy. Italy!! The Boks were done. And then along came Rassie and Jacques...
I would say Wales would have beaten England in the final - England went there to beat the All Blacks, and once they did it they had no Plan B, C or D. As a Saffer, I would emphatically insist that England didn't have a snowball's against the Boks in the final.
I think an extra section of the show would be great if they showed the player been run over or bounced and their reaction to that clip, both funny and slightly different
It is always interesting, but ultimately futile to sit back after a sporting endeavour and decide what could have been done, should have been done differently, But in the heat of the moment on the pitch, field or in the arena, those actually in action, have to make split second decisions, not always the right one... Nevertheless credit must go to t e "Boys from The Valleys" for putting up agood fight...But to all potential opponents I say.." Pasop Kerel..Hier kom "Die BOKKE..."!!!
Semi Finals. Not Quarter Finals Edit: I see, you are referring to the RWC 2015. Then you are right. My bad In 2015 I think we got knocked out by Australia in the Semis so that was tough but having knocked over Wales in 2019 we went on to knock over the team that had beaten the previous RWC Winners
Willie Leroux cowardice under the high ball, is so un South African! If he was braver he'd be truly world class but defusing bombs is arguably the most important jib of a 15!
@@stephanswanepoel2448 I'm with you 100% I've seen WLR deliberately run into more than a few cruncher tackles, knowing full well he was going to get _smashed,_ just so that he could give the next guy that fraction extra space or half a second time. You can say many things about Willie le Roux, but "coward" is not on that list.
I think Wales would have taken it, if it was England vs Wales🤷 Wales just have to learn to use the street hound inside them!! Isn't Wales the poorest in the UK? What do they have to lose? they need to tap into that dark place
The All Blacks lost to the best team on the planet ... Ireland. The Goats struggled against the lowly ranked Wales and were lucky to get the series win. When are they going to select on merit? When are they going to discard race based selections?

Some Japanese players, Fijians, Chileans, etc
Jason Robinson.

Dan is a great player and cool guy. Great test series in SA in 2022. I'm South African but really enjoy Wales when they play.
I hope you guys invite players from outside the anglosphere. I'm talking about french, argentinians, japanese etc... They're part of world rugby too!!
@World Rugby take notes from this man! Would love to see them interview players from other nations.
Great idea, be amazing to get to know players from other countries ahead of the World Cup…

We used to hammer them by 40 points but all of a sudden its one moment that dictates who wins.
Bunch of tough,gritty,old-school types the Welsh are.
Only time I do not like Dan Biggar, is when we play against him. He is always welcome in SA.
He seems a very pleasant fellow off the field...but on the field, he makes me wish Bakkies was still playing....
