As Bok supporters we tend to be super critical of them, even when they are winning; many of us are also hesitant to write them up too much for fear they’ll fall off or we’ll seem to be getting arrogant. We (the All Blacks) have a good 1st team that can compete with the Boks but their depth in almost every single position is unreal! They have at least 2 top 15s that can compete against anyone! 3-4 top quality players in each position is plain scary

As a lifelong Bok supporter I've always had huge respect for Dan Biggar as a player. He's a master at the psychological game, a brilliant strategist and deadly accurate kicker. This summary shows his extraordinary ability to read the game and clearly articulate the blueprint behind the Bok's success in the modern rugby era. Thanks Dan - good one. One thing that I find striking is that the boys seem to be having fun. The working environment must be amazing as no-one wants to lose their place in this team. This team is focused on the game and the process. The old verkrampte bully boy bash rugby is no longer their only strength. Rassie is not only creating a great team, but probably unearthing some future coaches inside this team who can take the boks to greater heights in the future. Who would have thought that post 2023, the springboks are liked and admired. (except by the suits at WR of course)
So with all this in mind, how did Rassie not win coach of the year. Surely what he's done just this year alone with 51 players is something no one else has ever done.
@@thevoice1702This. If I had to narrow down the Springbok success last five years to just one central idea, it would be this. It came about by happenstance, because we had similar sort of eligibility rules. But then the ROE turned against us badly, so our players were being paid at much lower than the going rate. This is why SA Rugby made the concession. Brazil and Argentina have been following this model for decades, which in effect allows them to bleed new players while their top stars are all in European clubs. None of us need to be reminded how formidable they are at football. Why Rugby has taken so long to break this mold baffles me.
South africas provincial teams are working with Rassie. It's one big team effort and Rassie's the big master mind. They really do think out of the box from a ref's point of view to an attacking point of view. South Africa's schools are creating so much depth with over a 1000 professional players coming through the system every year shows the commitment and the passion. The best is yet to come!!!

Thanks Dan. An as Englishman who ran away to SA as soon as he graduated and has supported the Boks for many years, I changed my Six Nations allegiance to Wales about then too. I remembered watching the 1974 Lions beat the Boks in three of the four tests and particularly the Welsh influence of Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennett, Merv the Swerve, Bobby Windsor, JJ and JPR and realised that their style of play was what rugby should be all about, which was confirmed when SA finally got TV the next year and we could watch the 6 Nations games live. It has been sad over the years both watching some of your stars having to go off to play league Up North, and also the recent struggles, but I hope your guys can get back up to their (your!) normal level sooner rather than later and really look forward to them playing the Boks who under Rassie are now starting to play the same type of rugby after many years of being a bit one-dimensional (but still winning!). As our captain said after the last game at Cardiff, the rugby world really needs the Welsh, and I think we all heartily agree with Siya.
Dan Biggar is the greatest Flyhalf that Wales has ever produced. Stephen Jones was pretty good too, but I just think that Biggar was so much more influential during his career. Wales were a true force to be reckoned with during most of Biggar's time in the team. Gatland wouldn't have had such great success without Biggar playing so consistently well over the years. He was so extremely competitive on the field, but seems like a such a relaxed guy off it. He's been a great addition to the RugbyPod podcast as well. Him, Andy Goode and BigJim have such good chemistry and a good sense of humor. Huge respect from SA 🇿🇦.

It really is amazing to see this video, us South Africans are renowned for being bad losers and even worse winners I think, and I personally try to keep my feet grounded knowing too well where we came from, loosing 57-0 to NZ, asking myself how can a team with so much depth and talent be so bad. And perhaps its the pessimist in me thinking we can so quickly go back to that. But seeing this video, and seeing how other people are praising the Boks makes me proud, and hats off to you Sir for such an insightful video, sharing your take on the team and acknowledging that the Boks are the team to beat currently. Brilliant assessment Dan. What amazes me is your indebt detailed knowledge of the game(s), the players and the strategies. Rassie does gamble all the time as he brings in new players but it is such calculated risks that he has that long term plan of creating a variety players that has top level experience should any injuries or retirements happen. Also (similar to other countries) one has to admire the total dedication and experience that is already gained by players during their primary and secondary schooling careers.
Rassie is a true student of the game. He won 11 out of 13 games while rotating a squad of new and old players. Picked up silverware along the way while still basking on the back to back world cups. Now, tell me Rassie wasn't deserving to win Best Rugby Coach. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Respect to the Springboks and especially to Rassie from an Englishman. I have all too often read about the "old boys club" which in exists in English rugby and of another instance in this comment section I have read NZ rugby referred to this as well (which is probably why Tony Brown cannot coach in his homeland). Springboks are ripping up the long established rule book in rugby and look like they'll be champions in 2027. I think a lot of the innovation seen in football/soccer is now finding its way into rugby, and the Springboks are the pioneers of this.

Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Dan Biggar was always one of my favorite Welsh players, when he was in the mix, Wales was always a dangerous side. With his pin-point kicking accuracy, they were always in the hunt. As Bok supporters we tend to be super critical of them, even when they are winning; many of us are also hesitant to write them up too much for fear they’ll fall off or we’ll seem to be getting arrogant. Hence so good to hear an entertaining, fascinating positive summary of the evolving Bok game plan from a highly respected former Wales player & true student of the strategic nuances of the game. We (the All Blacks) have a good 1st team that can compete with the Boks but their depth in almost every single position is unreal! They have at least 2 top 15s that can compete against anyone! 3-4 top quality players in each position is plain scary

As a lifelong Bok supporter I've always had huge respect for Dan Biggar as a player. He's a master at the psychological game, a brilliant strategist and deadly accurate kicker. This summary shows his extraordinary ability to read the game and clearly articulate the blueprint behind the Bok's success in the modern rugby era. Thanks Dan - good one. Beware of the team that invites Dan to their coaching staff.
One thing that I find striking is that the boys seem to be having fun. The working environment must be amazing as no-one wants to lose their place in this team. This team is focused on the game and the process.
The old verkrampte bully boy bash rugby is no longer their only strength.
Rassie is not only creating a great team, but probably unearthing some future coaches inside this team who can take the boks to greater heights in the future. Who would have thought that post 2023, the springboks are liked and admired. (except by the suits at WR of course)

It came about by happenstance, because we had similar sort of eligibility rules. But then the ROE turned against us badly, so our players were being paid at much lower than the going rate. This is why SA Rugby made the concession.
Brazil and Argentina have been following this model for decades, which in effect allows them to bleed new players while their top stars are all in European clubs. None of us need to be reminded how formidable they are at football. Why Rugby has taken so long to break this mold baffles me.
Oh you know back-to-back World Cup winners I think the world is aware of the threat 🤣

South africas provincial teams are working with Rassie. It's one big team effort and Rassie's the big master mind. They really do think out of the box from a ref's point of view to an attacking point of view. Thanks Dan. An as Englishman who ran away to SA as soon as he graduated and has supported the Boks for many years, I changed my Six Nations allegiance to Wales about then too. I remembered watching the 1974 Lions beat the Boks in three of the four tests and particularly the Welsh influence of Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennett, Merv the Swerve, Bobby Windsor, JJ and JPR and realised that their style of play was what rugby should be all about, which was confirmed when SA finally got TV the next year and we could watch the 6 Nations games live. It has been sad over the years both watching some of your stars having to go off to play league Up North, and also the recent struggles, but I hope your guys can get back up to their (your!) normal level sooner rather than later and really look forward to them playing the Boks who under Rassie are now starting to play the same type of rugby after many years of being a bit one-dimensional (but still winning!). As our captain said after the last game at Cardiff, the rugby world really needs the Welsh, and I think we all heartily agree with Siya.

Dan Biggar is the greatest Flyhalf that Wales has ever produced. Stephen Jones was pretty good too, but I just think that Biggar was so much more influential during his career. Wales were a true force to be reckoned with during most of Biggar's time in the team.
Gatland wouldn't have had such great success without Biggar playing so consistently well over the years. He was so extremely competitive on the field, but seems like a such a relaxed guy off it. He's been a great addition to the RugbyPod podcast as well. Him, Andy Goode and BigJim have such good chemistry and a good sense of humor. Huge respect from SA 🇿🇦.

It really is amazing to see this video, us South Africans are renowned for being bad losers and even worse winners I think, and I personally try to keep my feet grounded knowing too well where we came from, loosing 57-0 to NZ, asking myself how can a team with so much depth and talent be so bad. And perhaps its the pessimist in me thinking we can so quickly go back to that.
But seeing this video, and seeing how other people are praising the Boks makes me proud, and hats off to you Sir for such an insightful video, sharing your take on the team and acknowledging that the Boks are the team to beat currently.
With this, I would also like to say to my fellow Wales supporters, us as Bok supporters know to well how it feels to hit rock bottom, but take it from us, it takes time to build up a team, stick with your coach and team, give them the oppertunity to be better, and you will also see videos like this saying how Wales have made a comeback and turned it around...

Brilliant assessment Dan. What amazes me is your indebt detailed knowledge of the game(s), the players and the strategies. Rassie does gamble all the time as he brings in new players but it is such calculated risks that he has that long term plan of creating a variety players that has top level experience should any injuries or retirements happen. Also (similar to other countries) one has to admire the total dedication and experience that is already gained by players during their primary and secondary schooling careers.

Brilliant video. The analysis is very interesting. They are becoming an exciting team to watch. I’m curious to see the evolution of that offensive game, especially see it f they keep playing like that in tough games or go back to their basics : scrum, maul, 3s.
My guess is that it would be horses for courses. If you're in heavy rain playing with a bar of soap, an expansive game probably isn't going to cut it.

Respect to the Springboks and especially to Rassie from an Englishman. I have all too often read about the "old boys club" which in exists in English rugby and of another instance in this comment section I have read NZ rugby referred to this as well (which is probably why Tony Brown cannot coach in his homeland).
Springboks are ripping up the long established rule book in rugby and look like they'll be champions in 2027.
I think a lot of the innovation seen in football/soccer is now finding its way into rugby, and the Springboks are the pioneers of this.
