You are the only youtube video i've found so far adressing the issue with the volume setting of windows. Thanks that they are still people out there who really want to help other streamers.
The best tutorial on this by far, actually taught us what the filters do so we can tune ourselves instead of a bunch of these tutorials which say use these settings then they don't work on ur equipment
this is brilliant! thanks for this it has shed a lot of light on mic audio configurations and audio set ups in general for me. I've tied myself up in knots listening to the never ending streams of conflicting advice that floats around on the internet regarding input levels, gain levels, filters and what not, this video helped me settle on some settings of my own so thank you! I am still fiddling around.. forever in search of the perfect settings if such exist! but for now I am happy..ish haha. I am looking to start streaming on my new pc so your content here has helped massively...thanks again guys (with beards) :)
this helped so much now i dont have to buy a mic on a boom i just borght a headset thinking its just beacue it was a cheap mic but my headset was cheaper but much better all i use is a gxt heasdset wiht a usb to aux thing for my pc or ps4 works grate love it thankyou realy helpful
Thank you so much for this video! I've been fiddling with the filters just to get that sweet spot in my mic. Your explanations for Noise Gate and Compressor helped me a lot to understand what they do.
Ok so you're actually a lifesaver!! After looking for literally hours on google no one could answer my question as to why my mic was peaking so much when all my settings inside obs were perfect! Turns out the sound levels within my desktop was at 100%!! down to 75% the peaking stopped! Thank you so hekkin much dude, I appreciate you so much!
Had to come back and leave another comment. This video was excellent! After adjusting my mic using your filter tips, my audio now sounds great! I never understood what the compressor did before. Listened back to my audio and it’s great now! Hope you continue this series!
Your audio has always been something I've greatly appreciated about your stream. As a musician, I've always preferred XLR to USB, I'd rather use an analog board than letting the software do everything, but that's personal preference. I just need to take care of the cavern over my head....
I have a mosquite static beep after stopping to talk and can't get rid of it.. You guys have any tips? Just googled my ass of the last hour and still can't get it to work.
I have the weirdest issue. I set my mic filters in OBS and when i’m live they are fine. However the filters are not present on my VODs. So for example, when i’m live my background noise is completely cutout and no-one can hear it, but in my VODs and clips the background noise is present
What's the best and cheapest sound dampening type foam? Towels! Not joking. Buy some cheap tows and use 3 layered as each "panel" and if you're serious about it make like a picture frame, staple 3 towels and use a color towel on top that looks good. This will block sound and stop sound from bouncing. Better than the expensive kind of foam, so I haven't gotten any ever since! Look up diy perks and he demonstrated that it works
Interesting. According to wat I read, a suppression should be after an eq. The order I read was: suppression, noisegate, eq and compression. So compression is last in the chain. Help
Cheers for the guide Ben. I'm only just getting started and sound is an issue at the moment, so i'm sure going to give these settings a try even tho i didn't understand half the things you were saying lol. This is the mic i'm using (www.amazon.co.uk/Microphone-Alvoxcon-Unidirectional-Condenser-Podcasting/dp/B07C4R2CYN) if you fancy giving it a test and letting me know. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

You're saving people days of work. Really appreciate the effort that went into this. Especially the bit on the Compressor. It made all the difference.
Happy to help!

Would you be able to take a look at a behringer XM8500? It's a super cheap dynamic that people brag about. I'd love to see your take on it

Have you tested setting gate and compression in Voicemeeter or elsewhere vs OBS?
one problem im running into is that the sound completely cuts out whenever i scream instead of lowering it? what specific setting do i need to adjust?
