    2015 to 2020 shock and strut removal and installation with a fancy set of Teraflex Falcon Adjustable Leveling Shocks and Struts for my good friend Tim. After he test drove his f150 with the new shocks and stuts he was very happy with the way they perform. His own words "So sporty. Very firm on the road still quiet and smooth going over bumps. Just feel safer all together Big Mahalo'z bro"

    Just finished the front on my 2019 2.7 SCREW XLT. I found a wrecked 37k mile F150 on ebay and bought oem strut assemblies for $100 bucks per side and free shipping. Thanks to your video, I started at 8am and finished at 11:30am. 2wd was pretty easy. No fooling around with cv axles. THANKS AND SUBSCRIBED.

    thank you for this.... I did my second F150 installing Bilstein 5100s.... your way is so much easier by removing the bottom first... When i did it the first time i went top out first... that was a PITA... your way is a timesaver! Thanks!!! 👌

    Thanks for the video it was a big help. I just replaced both the front struts on my F150 (both coil springs were broken).
    In addition to following the steps in the video, my humble suggestion to anyone planning on tackling these (im not a professional). On the bottom rear facing strut stud, take the nut off while everything is still compressed and cut as much of the stud off as you can. Even a 1/4" makes a huge difference. A dremel tool with a cutting wheel works.
    Once you have the ball joint seperated it will expose enough of the front facing stud that it can be easly cut off with an angle grinder. I put a small piece of 1/4" plywood between the strut and the CV joint to act as a shield just in case I slipped while I was cutting.
    It will make it MUCH eaiser to pry the bottom of the strut out.
    Thanks again for the video.

    Gotta commend you on your how-to video my man. Best one out there by far! You even provide torques for the important joints which is much appreciated. Was very helpful to watch before installing some Bilstein 5100s on my '16 F150. Kudos!

    Well done! I promised myself never to do suspension work again, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Once the upper ball joint, tie rod end, and sway bar (key!) are disconnected, the strut almost falls out. Easier on a 2WD, too!

    For anyone tackling the front shock removal, you don't need a coil spring compressor. In fact, it really won't help anyways (it didn't help me with my '15 F150). You need a flay/wide pry bar that's long enough for leverage but short enough to fit under the fender lip (and not risk a nasty dent). Heave it out, making sure you keep the pry bar head nested beyond center under the bottom of the strut. The two bottom bolts are on a pivot, so they'll rotate and allow the whole strut to pop out. Once the strut bolts are out of their lower ctrl arm holes, grab the strut and just give it a yank. It's only holding like an inch of compression at this point and doesn't have any explosive energy.

      No way. I’m about to cut the bolts

    • @DJtheDad
      @DJtheDad 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@gixxerhoff7502 Once you just lever one out, you'll understand how silly it was. You're probably like 3/16" away from success.

    sure would be nice if the2 bolts on the bottom of the strut would just come out instead of having to get a long pipe to pry it out. Dang engineers! They need to hang around us mechanics more to make it easier to fix this stuff

    Very clear instructions. Just a question. Before the truck is lifted, can you attach two spring compressors to the coil? When you lift the truck the coil/shock does not extend. That would keep the strut assy lightly compressed and allow much less tension at the bottom of the shock. Looks like some of the difficulty in removal is having enough downward free play to get the assy out.

    Just did a job myself on my truck lower and upper ball joints just curious, isn’t it better to tighten the control arm bolts after it’s off the jack stand so there is no pre stress on the bushing?

    I thought dont torque down shock bolts until truck is sitting with weight on it? Bushing fatigue?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  3 года назад

      I think that would be more so for control arms. Not so much twisting going on with the shock bushings

    Thanks for posting. I am thinking of getting these shocks and looking for reviews. What ride level was the spring set at and how did the owner like the shocks?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 года назад

      He liked the front springs at the stock setting and said it felt firmer than the originals but not too firm. He said he loves the them and was a huge ride difference. He leaves the back setting at 1 and when he tows his boat he sets it to 3.
