They were the FIRST band to follow the Beatles across the big pond to the USA, appear on the same show, The Ed Sullivan Show, in Spring 1964. For a while in 1964, the kids were already arguing over who was the best band, the Beatles or the Dave Clark Five ....I'm old I should know I lived that history hahahaha

The DC5 and this song are from 1964. Their best hits were from '64 to '66 although they had some lesser hits through '67 and '68.
