    So a fun fact about the ethnicity genetic tests, I had a friend who has enough indigenous blood in her to be officially part of a tribe show up on one of those tests with 0 native American blood. The results are based on the pool of test data they have, and the sample pool for native Americans is almost negligible. Until more people with provable ancestry contribute to sample pools, this will continue to happen.

      Mine came back 0% Native American thru MyHeritage; and I don’t know what to think. It’s possible that it could be stolen heritage or real. I have dark hair & my skin gets red but doesn’t burn in the sun. By morning it’s tan, not red. People I’ve met randomly have commented on my features, saying I “look indigenous”; although indigenous people can look all different ways.🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m just saying that I want to know one way or the other for real.🤷🏽‍♀️✌🏽

    • @Karamarika
      @Karamarika 4 месяца назад +3

      @QueenofChaos80 there are features that definitely look like people indigenous to North America. They have high cheekbones, black hair, a similar darker skin tone, and you can often just tell by looking at them if they have a high enough percentage. If someone only has 1/4 or less, you would have a really hard time seeing it. What you're referring to with them "looking different" would likely be from having very little in their DNA. Of course that would look different. It would be like a black person being 1/16th white - you won't likely see it at all.
      It's weird when people want to pretend like ethnicity doesn't make people look similar to each other. You can often tell when someone is from Britain vs Sweden even though they are both white. You can often see that someone looks Jewish, Arabic, Chinese, or Japanese. It's not wrong to acknowledge these facts. There will always be exceptions to every rule, but you don't throw out the rule because of the small percentage of exceptions.

    • @QueenofChaos80
      @QueenofChaos80 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Karamarika I absolutely agree. In the past, I have made the statement that people say I “look indigenous” & have had people come for me in the comments about how ‘not all indigenous people look alike’ & ‘you can’t always tell by appearance’; so I didn’t want to come across wrong to anyone/offend anyone.🤦🏽‍♀️✌🏽
      I was told my whole life that I am the great granddaughter of a Cherokee chief. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Yet MyHeritage showed 0%. It also popped up East Asian decent & Germanic decent. I expected to see Germany, but definitely not East Asia.🤷🏽‍♀️✌🏽

      Thinking about this method always makes me sick to my stomach

    • @Desert_Dreamer24
      @Desert_Dreamer24 4 месяца назад

      People really need to have more knowledge!!
      Turkey baster style has an almost 0 percent chance of ACTUALLY WORKING due to the fact that the MINUTE semen is exposed to oxygen (air, anything OUTSIDE of a V****a!!) the sperm DIES OFF!!
      They suffocate and die off. It would take a couple minutes to properly do something like that. By the time you’d get ANY inside of you, you are just putting cold semen in your V****a that has dead sperm.
      Mind you, this is coming from someone with secondary infertility, and someone who happens to also have a medical background.
      Not only have I had to go through fertility issues myself but I also have a medical background SPECIFICALLY within the field of reproductive medicine, pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum medicine.
      Personally speaking, having gone through what patients currently experience, I feel that it makes me a more empathetic and supportive medical professional.
      Reproductive Endocrinology, which is essentially the specialty medicine you see for when you have trouble conceiving, or if you have conditions that affect fertility, is also a field of medicine and research that spent time in gynecology & obstetrics as well as specialized education in reproduction and endocrinology.
      It is a wonderful field to be involved in, it is very rewarding and fulfilling, but I would be lying if I were to say that when patients experience loss or failed IVF cycles like what I have experienced personally, that I didn’t really feel for them and understand their grief and pain on a more personal level.
      Now back to the Turkey Baster thing, this was actually something I had asked years and years ago when I had been a patient, and there has been a few patients who’ve also asked/joked about it, and we have had some same sex couples who have come through and one specific couple who had been attempting essentially this exact thing for her wife to become pregnant. Neither of them understood why after 4 attempts her wife still wasn’t getting pregnant. The conversation then had to be had with them about the reasoning.
      I would say that based on the amount of patients who have thought that this works, I would say that it is a very unknown thing.
      I don’t blame anyone for not having the information and education that would help them to know the truth about it, but I will say that the jokes are just old at this point.
      Genuine misunderstanding and misinformation is one thing, but it’s the ones who are just clearly trying to cover something up or make a joke about it, that is something that all of us get tired of hearing 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

      @@Desert_Dreamer24they bank semen for this purpose all the time. It has to survive in a container for at least a few minutes up to an hour. If you are doing the deed without medical professionals, it would need to be deposited into a container, then transferred to where the woman was waiting, then transferred from the container to her vagina. That all takes time. Obviously, many sperm will die and it will likely take multiple tries, but it can be done. It helps to keep it as close to body temperature as possible.

    For those who don't know, when you get a surrogate they need to be proven to be able to give birth so show they can one: have kids, two: have a kid safely, three: have an idea of what it would mean to give up a child. Also the medical fees are ontop of any pay they would get. You would also have to pay for the health insurance of the surrogate and any funds they would lose (ie if put on bed rest they would need to get paid for lost wages)

    Surrogate story: OP's sister is completely unreasonable and ridiculous. OP's boyfriend didn't touch OP's sister's belly. He touched OP's belly. If OP didn't care, it's none of her sister's business. As if the sister has anything to say about who OP allows to touch her.
    Married 1/2 siblings: I bet this happens more often than people think. If you have kids who have been given up for adoption and raised in different families, they could meet and fall in love with their own FULL sibling without ever knowing. They would only find out if they do a DNA test. Where I live, there was a couple who have lost custody of all their children (at least 5 kids) and those kids were all adopted by different families as they were all quite young. The adoptive parents are trying to ensure they keep in contact so they know their siblings which would prevent this sort of thing happening.

Childbirth is very risky and in the United States, we are pretty much at the bottom of the list of "developed" nations for morbidity and mortality.

I think being attracted to a preggo lady might be a very smart evolutionary thing: if she had a man, he’d step up and tell the dude to eff off. If she doesn’t, he gets attached to her during his favorite part so once it ends he loves her. Then unconsciously, he picked a woman he can procreate with.

      It would kinda be the opposite because we are programmed to reproduce. Like strong feelings of care and protection are normal. But there isn't really an evolutionary advantage to being attracted to someone pregnant. Because they are unable to reproduce further during that time period there is no point to pursue them in an evolutionary sense. In fact that time would be better spent either getting food for the mother or pursuing another mate that's able to reproduce. Hence why a lot of guys either work harder to provide for their family or unfortunately leave/ cheat on their wife.

The 2nd one is guys who just like the idea of being with a woman with child. Both can be fine, but both can be really annoying for the pregnant mother.

He was raised with a lot of " should not be done" things, and did when I ordered him to feel. He never did on his own accord for any of our 3 children. Though he loved them and I felt that since he was the youngest that that could be a good part of the reason that he was better with older kids.

      maybe they should be making studies if it was because they received full attention basically 24/7 for their first years.. like, maybe it's simply that we understimulate all babies and what we consider "normal" speed in development is just "how much attention a baby normally receives in most households", not that I'm implying that parents and family members aren't doing their best and that their best is enough, but, I'm 100% sure that babies had extra extra stimuli with most people staying in their houses during extended periods of time and interacting with each other.

    The sister being a surrogate should not have anyone touching her belly in her sister's presence. Also, the boyfriend is "laying claim" to the baby by rubbing on her belly. The sister is probably worried that at the time of birth OP may change her mind to surrender the child if she gets overly attached to the baby. In most states, even if the egg is the sister, the birthing person must surrender rights for the bio-mom to legally adopt the child. So any sign of emotional attachment may be sending the sister over the edge and thinking that her husband will need to legal take OP to court in order to get their child.

    For the surrofacy story, in Michigan you arent allowed to pay for a surrogate. Its basically treated as child trafficking. If someone wants to be a surrogate, they have to do it out of the goodness of their heart, with a written contract stating the child born at or after a certain date is the parents. If the child is born before the contract date, the baby belongs to the surrogate because whoever carried the baby is considered the mother. There was a couple that had to sue and ADOPT their biological twins because they were born prematurely and Michigan said they werent the parents because the wife isnt the one who carried the twins and gave the kids to the surrogate. It was a whole thing

    As a Southerner with indigenous ancestry that can't be verified... The reason people think this is usually if you look into the family history they have been declared people of color at some point. Back in the days where a drop of the blood made you nonwhite, anyone declared colored *forfeited* land and banked money. It would be illegal for them to own anything. What was enormously common? Declaring families to be of mixed or tri-race origin and then stripping them of their holdings. When one of my cousins researched my mom's family which came over to the colonies very early on? It happened at least twice that we were declared "coloured" and my ancestors fled deeper into the Appalachia.
    I believe this claim is common from either people hiding previous accusations of blackness like I've described or explaining children away that didn't come out looking all white. Since race is determined by appearance traditionally and it only takes a drop of the blood, even someone sallow/olive-complexion from Welsh ancestry might have been challenged as colored.

    12:47 I mean for this I can kinda understand if the grandparent she thought was her husband's had native American ancestry. I'm from a blended family myself like OP (having family not biologically related to you, half siblings, etc). My brother is my half brother, same dad different moms. My mom is Filipino and his mom is Italian. My grandparents always loved him as their own. Out of all the grandkids, he was the best at eating Filipino food. He knows about the culture and my mom calls him her son. Not her step kid and he doesn't call her step mom either. I never called my brother my half brother until recently to confuse people less about why my brother and I look so different. Anyways, the point of the story is that even though my brother has no Filipino blood, he's still a part of the family and has every right to love and embrace the culture he was raised aroud. Our grandparents and my mom didn't treat him any differently. My grandpa was even proud about how tall my brother was and said "look at my grandson! He's so tall!" In a very proud tone. One time him and my mom were out and my brother noticed a guy with a Filipino tattoo and asked him about the significance of it. The guy looked at my brother confused saying "how do you know what Filipino tattoos are?" And my brother pointed at my mom and said "that's my mom. She's Filipino" no hesitation. Just because you don't have the blood, it doesn't mean you can't love and embrace the culture you were raised with or find out is on your family tree.

      Further down you go it's supposed to be safer which is where "kissing cousins" came from... 3rd cousins and on are far enough down the gene pool that there shouldn't be defects in offspring...
      That said...
      I never was able to comprehend why, in dog breeding, a father can breed with his daughter and you can then paper them as purebred.... Dunno how they get purebred out of inbred. That's straight up inbred in my mind...
      (Inbreeding has been the foundation for the development of pedigree(pure bred) breeds as it results in offspring who are predictably similar, because of the fact that their genetic similarity maintains specific traits from a common ancestor)
      Double in-law marriages children are double first cousins of one, another. Instead of only having one set of grandparents in common, like most first cousins, they have both sets in common. They are as closely related as half siblings.
