Spyship opening titles (1983)

In 1974, during the Cold War, the fishing vessel FV Gaul disappeared off the coast of Norway. There were rumours -- never proven -- that the Gaul was engaged in intelligence gathering activity for the British government (similar to the activities that the Soviet fishing fleet performed for the USSR).
'Spyship' is a 1983 drama miniseries produced by the BCC and follows the loss of a fictional trawler, the Caistor, in similar circumstances.

Centered on Hull, my home town. The fushing industry, by 1983 had been almost reduced to nothing. The docks are niw filled in and the infrastructure long gone. Very sad decline.

I watched this along with Tumbledown on the Arts & Entertainment network in the 80's and it has stayed with me ever since. Wish it had a proper US release.

This is available as a 7" single on the BBC label. A couple on Discogs at the moment (though quite expensive).

All I remember about this series is the ending. That has stuck with me. I do remember feeling that this was an excellent series, though. I was 12 years old when it aired.
