Thanks. Very helpful. I’m getting ready to start investing and setup my little home studio so I can start recording my church songs on my own. And I’m leaning towards S1 and/or Pro tools as my DAW. I think I may go with S1. In the future, can u make a demo on how to use digital drums and add it to the mix? I would like to learn about it. Big thanks. New sub.
Great! Thanks for watching and good luck on your recording! 😁 For digital drums do you mean using MIDI/Electronic Drums or do you mean using Drum Samples in your mixes?
You’re welcome! Honestly there’s so much on RUclips to consume and then a lot of trial and error. I’ve been working at churches for years and people generally will let you know if something sounds bad or good 😅 Having musician friends to record is a big help. Check out channels like Produce Like A Pro, Recording Revolution, Rick Beato, and Joe Gilder
Excellent and very useful video Chris. Its to the point, no fluff. Does it matter if we set the track to mono or stereo ? How do we make the voice stereo if it is recorded mono ? Are the voices that we hear in radio ready songs , stereo or mono?
Great question! So all lead vocals are going to be recorded in Mono. Any track can become Stereo with the use of effects like Delay & Reverb. The lead vocal in this video is in Mono. I added an FX track for my Reverb. That FX track is stereo. The lead vocal gets sent to the FX track and is now Stereo. Mostly every song out there is going to have a Mono lead vocal in the middle. You can record more than one vocal for harmony and background vocals. Those can be panned left or right to give a sense of stereo. Instruments are most often panned left and right. Keep your Bass Guitar, Kick Drum, Snare Drum, and Lead Vocal in the Middle. Pan your guitars, cymbals, toms, and keyboards left and right. Your main export will be stereo
@@heychrisgreen I have never received such a complete and comprehensive answer, never in you tube. Thank you very very much, you opened my eyes. Please make more videos about anything you choose related to studio one (practical recording , editing etc ) or more general concepts regarding audio. I really wish you to have many many thousand subscribers in a very short time !!!

Very Helpful, you showed us how to use the tools in action rather just showing layouts . Good Job
Thanks for the kind words! 😁

May I ask how you'd learn to mix?
