Today I won against a state level chess player in a cafe over the bill. Bet of our beer and food.. I just played so fast because of continuous watching agadmator and playing blitz chess.. And he resign with King Knight and four pawns with me having a new queen and rook.. Everybody cheered me and I was so happy.. Thank you Antonio..
john Exel actually I am a 1800player on chess. Com. I am 26playing chess from childhood but not professional. Only online I play in free time. I have watched almost 90%of games of agadmator with engine analysis.. So a beginner you should read books. Memorize, openings and solve tactics.
Pretty sure a couple of decades from now, the name 'Magnus' Carlsen will always come up when people are discussing & debating who the greatest Chess player ever was. The never ending debate although pointless due to multiple factors will always continue just because people enjoy it !
What I like about Carlsen's style is that when he plays against weaker opponents, he choses very sharp lines. I overall enjoy a lot the games where Carlsen plays
#suggestion What are the oldest games we have on historical record? Ever consider doing some of those? It would be cool to see how the game has evolved over the centuries. At any rate, keep up the good work.
ill be honest, i dont even play chess that much and i have very little understanding of strategy and stuff, but i still watch and listen to your videos because you somehow find a way to make everything extremely interesting
I think I speak for everyone when I say: We can't wait to drown in our newly found knowledge of the 60's championship after you have provided us with it. Keep it up man
Back in the day, I studied this opening again and again, waiting for the day it finally came up in a tournament... And then one day it did. I was playing a guy 300 points above me. I blew off the first pawn, of course, and then the second. Then sacrificed one rook, and then another rook. My opponent, who was normally one of those cool as a cucumber guys, got more and more sweaty and red faced until finally he broke. Just about the sweetest victory ever.
6:45 after the king moves to h4, instead of knight to d7, you could play knight to f8, with a discovery from the queen, and then after king h5, you checkmate your opponent with f6, which I found funnier, because giving checkmate with a pawn is always fun
Playing black is hard as a result of the E4 opening move. Black is always having to react to white's moves until a move is made that lacks tempo. To overcome this Magnus creates game winning positions by sacrificing his pieces. Which forces his opponent to do likewise to prevent it. Surely it goes without saying this is an exceptional example of Magnus' greatness.
I think a young Bobby Fisher raised on modern chess would tie or best Magnus but Fisher at his best would have a rough time with Magnus. He would possibly get crushed.
At 6:08 another variation would be Nh5 forcing the king to go back to f2 then Nc2 with a discovered check from the bishop forcing the king again to e2. Lastly, Nf4 checkmate.
At six minutes and 30 seconds: another checkmate could be queen to d 6, putting king in check and bishops on c 5 and f 5 covering spaces. King has one place to move: h 4. Then move queen down to d 4. Checkmate
Believe it or not: some years ago, a chess club friend of mine won two tournament games with exactly this variation within one week. It's just amazing to see how many players can't resist the temptation to take on f7 with check, when White is already close to lost. The first of the two games went pretty much the same way as the one discussed here. By the way, White should counter 3... Bg4 with 4. Bb5+!. If 4... c6, then just take on c6 with the pawn. If instead Black prefers 4... Ld7, then 5. Le2 leads to a misplaced bishop on d7. If 4... Sbd7, then 5. f3 Lf5 6. Sc3! is a strong option for White. This was confirmed in another game by one of my clubmates, who smashed his opponent in around 20 moves. Due to the stunning two victories before, we were well aware of the dangers and looked for something more practical for White - and found this approach. We were pleased to find out that John Shaw later recommended this exact way of playing against this so-called Portuguese Variation in his 1. e4 repertoire book! P.S.: That dog is the secret star of this channel! Excellent work by agadmator though, keep it going!
I haven't played this exact line of the Scandinavian in over 20 years but, when I did, it was always against one guy, who would almost always choose this opening with black, and I don't recall ever beating him; in fact, I'm pretty sure I lost 2 or 3 games. I haven't looked into it since because it's a rare line these days but, I admit, just out of curiosity, I'd love to take some time to learn the best ways to counter it. If there were a few explanatory videos, I'd definitely check them out.
saw the Scandinavian Defense, and immediately liked the video I go for it sometimes to throw people off, for some reason nobody else in my area knows the lines at all ☃ you would think they would know better by now, but they don't lol
Suri lost because he focused on grabbing pawns instead of developing all his pieces. Look at the board when the video finished. He has 1 piece that too a bishop on f3 & 6 pieces sitting on the 1st rank undeveloped & look at Carlsen's pieces that too playing with black. ALWAYS go for rapid development instead of getting too materialistic. Mikhail Tal was called "The magician from Riga" for a reason. If i wasn't told that the player with the black pieces was Magnus, my 1st guess would have been Mikhail Tal !
10...Re3! is a well known line and has been played many times. Carlsen missed the crushing follow up in 11...Bc2!! The variations that follow are beautiful.
I really enjoyed this video. If I could make one suggestion - would it work well if you superimposed the head of Morphy over that of Carlsen to indicate in some way that he was playing in a similar way?
Hey agadmator, I *believe* I found another solution to your mate puzzle around 6min12 in the video : Knight H5 check -> King has to go to F2 -> Knight C2 check (discover from the Bishop on C5) -> King has to go to E2 (blocking with the Queen on D4 doesnt do anything, you just grab the Queen with the Bishop) -> Knight F4 checkmate. Did I miss something?
Vincent Moret recommends this handling of the Portuguese Scandinavian in his black repertoire book for "aspiring beginners". Perhaps Carlsen has been studying up LOL
"And if u play king to f4, well then you have a king on f4"
Agadmator 2018
TUSHAR BASRA HOLY SHIT I HAD A GIGGLE
He was spot on.
4:55😂
Three reasons why I like this channel:
-great games
-great analysis
-the dog
The dog it self is just making up the video xd
-energy-saving indoor attire
true.. and the dog hehehe
And the hat. What is it cold in his house?
@@steveconrad8857 it’s mother russia
it seems really simple when it's played by Carlsen

Siddharth Jain when did you start to play? I'm a beginner I take any good advice

There's no sound like the one of a cheering crowd :D
like that really happened....
Has your life been so empty and disappointing that you can't imagine other people actually achieving something, Ryan?
"If you go king to F4, then... then you have a king on F4.. that is pretty terrible itself..." xD
Daniel Fox 😂

-Agadmator 2018
This is one of the best games I have ever seen. So much tactics in one single game!
Nice! Eminem is publishing Chess Videos now
I would definitely watch if eminem did chess videos.
Fat Ality I don't get it. Antonio doesn't look, sound or act like Eminem in the least..? What am I missing? Haha
Beanie + hoodie
If he cut his beard, he would look like Eminem lol
I think you mean Bam Margera?
Magnus reached scary level in chess........
definitely good to be born in this age
a matter of opinion
Point to be noted!
I have increased my vast knowledge of the 1959 Candidates, and it's time to go back to society. 😂
My absolute FAVORITE portion of all your videos is your dog enjoying your couch!! But you and your analysis come in a close second!

Dr. MG M Of course, 35 super tourney wins...27 years old. He's just warming up:)
kasparov9 Agreed. I love his first name, 'Magnus'. Suits his utter Domination perfectly.
One of the most crushing games I've seen...
What I like about Carlsen's style is that when he plays against weaker opponents, he choses very sharp lines. I overall enjoy a lot the games where Carlsen plays
3:42 wtf is the dog doing ahahha
Again, Medo's back there bullshitting...........😂😂😂😂
Dogs are crazy because they are not made to live in houses
Canines prefer to live in caves, and houses are the perfect cave. Dogs love houses.
It's *cows* that weren't made to live in houses.
stealing the show
Fabulous game. I wish Magnus would play more of these attacking games. So enjoyable to watch.
#suggestion What are the oldest games we have on historical record? Ever consider doing some of those? It would be cool to see how the game has evolved over the centuries. At any rate, keep up the good work.
I covered the oldest game on record already :)
He's done the oldest game in the present day format.
I believe you are suggesting games with old rules like that in chaturanga.
Apparently great minds think alike :) All the best to you, the GF and Medo. Thanks for the reply!
stunning game. thank you, Agadmator.
Fantastic game. Loved the commentary and the game itself. Thank you.
Wow this is one of the better games you've showed us so far. Bravo!
"...then you have have a King on f4, which is pretty terrible in itself..." -Brilliant. I laughed so hard my wine came out of my nose.
Neal Ghai why are you yelling at him? He did nothing wrong.
AuraSynergy who the fuck casually drinks wine by them self alone while watching RUclips? Fucking alcoholic mate.
Your my favourite youtuber . Keep up the good work
ill be honest, i dont even play chess that much and i have very little understanding of strategy and stuff, but i still watch and listen to your videos because you somehow find a way to make everything extremely interesting
This type of game makes me weep, so beautiful!
same.. those sacrifices made me shout out a loud "wow!"
What a game, I enjoy playing the Scandinavian. Thank you Agad
Very entertaining game! Thanks for discussing this gem.
Wow what a great complicated game, like to see Magnus in this attacking mode. Thanks Agad for sharing this video
The dog is always in a great mood
Wow fireworks from beginning to end!
Damn! That is a masterpiece in playing black.
Amazing game and fantastic analysis! Agadmator, best channel on youtube by far!

That was a very cool game. Nice analysis
You talking about reading up on the Tal Botvinnik match is the type of preparation/dedication we need out here, keep it up brotha!
I think I’ve watched them all, some two or three times. I’ve been lonely without your video
Were you refreshing the page waiting for a new video
Carlson is so ingenuitive and unorthodox I love it

The best part was your your dog swimming at 3:45.
The real question is did the dog castle queen-side or king-side?
He's becoming Tal!!

What a game
Brilliant game, thanks for sharing..
Great video man! Thank you!
Gonna watch this game with my kids in a chessclub.
TY man!

Just imagine how great the bobby Fischer verse Magnus Carlsen game would be

3:50 the dog hahaha
Fil Antiguan, you're ridiculous lol. I was too focused on the game to notice the dog in the background.
The title is so right the game is like paul morphy vs vaibhav suri
Your dog is very entertaining in this video
This is my favorite Magnus Carlsen game thus far.

I envy the dog, sleeping and learning about chess all day

Exiting game. 3:40 the dog confirm that
Keep uploading new games everyday
3:45 - I love his dog in the background
I like it when he says "all sorts of discoveries"

"---well...in the world of *fast* internet,---" Good catch.

Medo practising his backstroke skills in the background!!😂❤️
Well presented.
Outright amazing.
6:08 nh5+ is also mate in 3 i guess after nh5+,kf2,nc2+,ke2,nf4#
Please cover the Candidates 2018 as and when it starts.
ha, such an appropriate quote from Magnus at top; I thought "MC really had fun with this game'.
At 3:38 the dog goes bananas!
Hahaha look at the dog at 3:40 xD
Impressionnante partie du champion.
I love the dog at the back
I think it would be good to say what were the time controls for this games.

Morozevich vs MVL amazing game, amazing defence by MVL
2009 Biel international chess festival
Is this the only opening variation "attributed" to Portugal?
At 6:08, can't you also force checkmate in 3 moves with . . . N-g5 K-f2, N-c2 K-e2 , N-f4 , or lose the queen if you use it to block the bishop.
I watched this live and i'm glad
If possible, will you kindly analyze some games involving 1. c4, the english, and 1. e4 d6, the pirc? Thanks anyway. Keep uploading...
your dog is amazing
A truly amazing game. Genius of genius. Why did I have to be born without any chess talent ?

We need someone to cook, clean and tend the garden.
Hey Agad, could you please write the time format of each game in the description?
I love watching your videos every day, keep up the amazing work
Agadmator's rule is: if the time format is not mentioned, then it is classic.
Plz show the game of Anand against Karpov from world championship 1998, round 2 #suggestion
Vincent Moret recommends this handling of the Portuguese Scandinavian in his black repertoire book for "aspiring beginners". Perhaps Carlsen has been studying up LOL
at 3:45 ... the dog at teh back . AHSDHAUHSD
