Isn't it absolutely gold to get away from the clickbait titles the drama and all the other RUclips rubbish to come watch a man and his Lobster Leon.. this is what RUclips should be. Such nostalgia.
Was going to say the same thing. From the sad, sorry lobster rescued from a supermarket to what he is now, the difference is phenomenal. He really looks healthy and happy now.
Leon isn't as afraid or skittish as he once was. He's become quite a confident lobster. You made him a beautiful new home and that sand must feel heavenly to him.
I thought the same thing. I seem to remember that with the last tank change he hid in the corner behind the rocks for quite a while. This time he was all over checking things out! 🦞
My heart breaks for Leon, he was in that aquarium at the grocery store, tossed in there like he didn't matter, claws banded so long he lost use of them, waiting either to die of being cooked or starvation....you saved him and are giving him a loving home. The little guy can live the rest of his days in peace and being cared for by someone who cares. thank you!!
It amazes me that when Leon was first introduced, due to a lack of knowledge (like most) he seemed to me like a perfectly healthy lobster with bad claws due to them being strapped, but looking at him now, his colours, patterns and over all look show how wrong that was. He looks incredible and is a truly beautiful creature.
Tell me about it! Since his molt, he's been so vibrantly-colored. I was curious as to whether that would fade with time... though with how well this big boy eats, I suspect he'll only start looking pale when he's ready to 'respawn' again! 😀
@@saraglickman5889 He wasn't really sickly, just not given tons of TLC and a very clean environment. Since he was a live grocery store lobster they were just kept in communal tanks that rarely are cleaned well and it doesn't take long for the muscles in his claws to lock up and grow weak with those rubber bands on so tight, a week or two and he'd have the issues of opening his big claws.
As this video ended, I realized I was sitting here with a goofy grin on my face, happy to see Leon again, your beautiful part of the country, and a good story well told. I'm still grinning. Thank you for sharing this slice of your life and for being a caring person with adopted felines and an adopted crustacean. And yes, I would be counting the shrimp every day.
@@candybarney5469 I know, he was so dull and lifeless looking at first and now he’s a vibrant beautiful boy. I’m so proud of him and his lobster dad.😂 this is just the kind of escapist content I need. The world may be going to shit but I’m gonna enjoy watching this man lovingly care for his grocery store pet lobster.
Probably the majority of the viewers could write the same comment as you. I guess I could take it even further and say I never thought I would spend so much time watching not just one but ALL the videos of a grocery store lobster!!! It sounds so boring but Leon is so satisfying to watch.
Same here. I sat here going aww when everything was taken away from Leon. He looked so sad. And I wondered if Brady was right that Leon was thinking all good things had come to an end. I even thought he might have been remembering the grocery store and worrying that Brady was finally going to eat him!
I can't believe I stumbled upon "Grocery store lobster as a pet" a year ago! Where has the time gone? You are doing absolutely everything right. Leon (and all your kitties and koi) looks so healthy, miles ahead of where he was when you got him. Can't wait to see more of his (and your) journey! ^^
@@lorettoponton7218 he didnt eat because of the killifish bothering him i think. he said that after he removed the fish he started eating and getting out of his cave more
@@youtubeisgarbage900 Of course they do! all animals do- else they wouldnt display fear or caution and wouldnt avoid predators. There's even evidence that plants do as well, and go through chemical changes when under attack
I will be honest. When I saw the first video of the day you got Leon, I didn't have much hope. He seemed really depressed and not well. But looking at him now, you wouldn't be able to tell it was the same lobster! He looks fantastic!
Same. I just discovered this wonderful page and that first moment where he didn’t even react when his claw was freed told me everything I needed to know. It’s been wonderful seeing his rehabilitation and his happiness. It’s why I rescue animals. The change in their demeanor from day one is worth every ounce of sadness and frustration.
I'm so happy for Leon that he has a huge new mansion to explore and organize to his liking. He even has cleaning staff now! What a fancy man Lord Leon has become!
Your care and keeping of Lord Leon is inspiring. A once-doomed crustacean now has his own RUclips Lobster Nation. And I'm proud to be among his adoring subjects. This is one of the most feel-good channels on the internet. Thanks!
Yup. I walked past the live lobster aquarium in Metro grocery store and there was one (only) lobster in it. I felt so sad it was all I could do to stop myself from purchasing it and setting it free in Lake Ontario. How cruel to do this to a living thing.
One thing I HAVE to comment on here is the cinematography. You, sir, have such a good eye for shots and making things look interesting. The aerial shots and shots of water splashing against the camera on the ground especially are some great eye candy. I came for Leon, but I’ll gladly stay for more videos with this level of visual appeal and down to earth commentary.
Oh, man, I wouldn't have missed this for the world!!! His color is so rich, clearly he's perfectly healthy. To follow from grocery store to new digs in Georgia has been SUCH a privilege. Happy anniversary!
I wonder if Leon thought "Oh no...not THIS again"😰 But he soon found himself in a nice new home with some new friends 🦞🦀🦀. Happy 1 year anniversary, Leon🤘🏻
Brady i think it's safe to say Leon is a bona-fide Rock star! He's got a brand new party pad, eats finest foods, back rubs and a lot of fans. Thank you for this heartwarming adventure.
Technically he's not.. That site is a scam as you can't legally sell a piece of land that small in Ireland.. At best you are just buying a gag gift which is the piece of paper. And their "estate" is just a stirp of land on the side of the road which is already covered in trees and has been for decades.
@@SilvaDreams yeah, I’m aware. I really did think that they were a good charity though - before they didn’t say exactly how much they donated but I thought for $84 it would be significant. It was one tree.
@@bethanywesley Well their advertising would lead most into thinking they were a good charity. But once you look just below the surface it's rather shady considering they are based out of Hong Kong, China... Odd for a place for that huh?
Time really does fly! To think it's been a year already since Leon went from being a lobster of dubious means to the hero we all root for. Leon is a very lucky lobster. You've truly furnished him with a beautiful spacious new home. It's really heartwarming knowing that you made such an effort to save him and introduce us to him. I look forward to many more happy updates.
As a seasoned aquarist, I enjoy the Leon videos and the scenes of aquarium stores, nature, and your own beautiful fish. Thank you so much for giving health and beauty to Leon.
I've been wondering how do you make sure the salinity stays at the right level in a salt water aquarium? Obviously you can't just put in more salt while animals are inside.
@@juliamavroidi8601 for a water change you mix it in a bucket then pour it in after dissolving it. To counter evaporation you can use fresh water, as the salt doesn't evaporate, often this is done with reverse osmosis water when you have very sensitive species
@@Bradybrandwood The pleasure is mine! I love Leon's journey, but I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without your narration. I'm looking forward to the next video! 👍👍
I can't help but compare what I think his capture and trip to the supermarket was like, to your transport of him to Georgia. You were so careful and considerate. We don't know what "higher animals" like cats and dogs feel, let alone more "simple creatures" like Leon...but if we cared for each other as you care for Leon, the world would be a better place.
Your empathy for other sentient beings does you huge credit Brady. This is a fantastic relocation/upgrade for Leon, and with lots of thought, organisation and effort you achieved it with minimum stress to him - Respect! I was touched that at times you shaded the corner of the new tank for him, with a piece of cloth. I believe it's very important for any creature confined in a tank/cage, to feel one section of it is protected from the outside world like that. Many moons ago my mom had a budgie that lived to the grand age of 19 years, and she swore it was because she always covered the rear of his cage with a dark cloth, so only his front aspect was exposed. Animals exposed on all sides naturally feel vulnerable (predators etc), and can't fully relax. But it takes empathy to realise that, so sadly not all pet owners think to provide a cloth to protect an area of their home and make them feel safe and secure. Great job Brady, like so many others I can't wait to see Leon enjoying his new, luxury home! Great job sir! Much love from the UK. XXX
Well said! Brady's videos about Leon are good for the soul. They remind me that despite all the negative things you hear about everyday, there are still empathetic people out there putting good things out into our world. Whether it be grand or small, each time we choose to be kind and loving it makes a difference to someone.
@@kristopherriemer4807 Wise words, I totally agree. Brady restores my faith in human nature. The way he goes the extra distance to give Leon a happy life lifts my soul. What an exceptional human being! I think he's made many reconsider eating lobster too! Seeing Leon grow big and healthy and enjoy his life, when without Brady's intervention he'd have been boiled alive and eaten long ago, really makes you stop and think. Hope life's treating you well, have a great week my friend.
Idk why this made me tear up! He’s come sooo far. From being scared and tied up in a grocery store tank, to absolutely THRIVING one year later. He’s a real inspiration, and his motto says it all. Survive… Thrive… well done, friend! Can’t wait to see the update!
Fun fact: Maine lobsters can live to be over 100 years old! Leon was likely 5-7 years old when he was brought to the grocery store, so he'll likely outlive all of us watching. The more you know 😁
Let me just say, it broke my heart seeing how sad Leon was when you took away all his rocks and plants. He didn't understand what was happening and he probably thought he was gonna be abandoned again. But he perked right up when you put him in his new tank, and he was like "Woow this is so big!! Thanks Dude!". I bet it was so worth it seeing how happy he is! Keep doing what you're doing! 💜 P.S. I'm pretty sure one of the shrimps is carrying eggs, maybe we'll see some baby shrimp if they're able to hatch.

Wow, how impressive and handsome does Leon look when we got a great look at him out of water ? It’s little wonder he’s thriving so well under your care Brady-thank you once again for rescuing this magnificent creature. Leon’s new residence is truly palatial in both size and style-Leon is very much spoiled in every way possible for a captive lobster. Can’t wait for more updates on Leon, and the cats! His new home is beautiful, and I love that there's other creatures in the tank with him. Thanks for posting the videos of Leon. It would be more than ok if you posted more of them though, I love seeing them.
Watching Leon, learning so much about lobsters, your music, your voice and observations are so soothing and great end of day relaxation. He’s amazing. 😊Thank you!
So glad to see Leon tolerated the move well. The new tank is so spacious. I hope Leon will love it and the company of his new tiny friends. He looks so healthy, happy and colorful!
It was nice getting to know you a bit better in this video, Brady! You're also just such a good cinematographer and story teller. Thanks for the update :)
10 out of 10 for the engineering ingenuity for raising the tank to its pedestal - amazing bit of work, and as an ex-engineer I totally approve. I might have been inclined to find a 3 tonne wheeled vehicle jack, which have been slightly quicker.
The headline for this had me worried as I thought you'd sold or rehomed Leon to someone else. Thankfully you and your family including the cats and anything else you have are going with him so all's good. The amount of money you've spent to give Leon his wonderful life is incredible so it's good that he is able to repay you simply by being healthy and, as far as anyone can tell, happy. Thanks for sharing Leon with us. 😁💖
I’d say you have 608.000 friends right here that would’ve loved to help you out lifting that aquarium. I love to see your updates. Your videos are so relaxing to watch.
I never thought the day would come when I thought a lobster was beautiful... Leon is truly something else, and the way you take such good care of him is so touching ♥️♥️
Their exoskeleton has multiple layers of pigments so it can look very interesting. Even better is when theres lobsters that don't have some layers present, leaving behind a wide range of rare colour possibilities like blue.
So good to see Leon again! He looks so healthy and seems very happy with his new larger home. He made himself comfortable immediately! He was probably thinking “oh well, it was nice while it lasted”, but then he got the best instead of the worst!
Congratulations Brady for this 1 year milestone of being the Lobster Dad of RUclips! A question raised when I saw that Leon could climb his rocks so well. Are you not afraid he could climb out of the aquarium? It looks amazing by the way, the aquarium. I don't think I have ever seen one this big in a home. And I like it you have found little creatures to liven up the place a bit, without being annoying for Leon. I hope they get babies before they get eaten. Like a balanced mini-ecosystem ☺
One of your ghost shrimps is pregnant! If you want to give the offspring a chance to survive make sure to cover your intakes with nylon or fine mesh! I love the continueing story of Leon, your videos are so wholesome and well made. Thank you for sharing!
It’s good to see his big pincher claws are beautiful and picking up his food at the end of the video. I’m just glad he is doing good and climbing over his stuff like that. Keep it up Leon ❤
So many details on a lobster I never paused to notice before. They really are incredible and complex animals. His colors are amazing. So handsome. Here’s to another year Leon and Brady! 🥂
I am watching Leons story since the first video you posted about him and I am really amazed on how much effort you put in this whole project. As a child I always wanted to save a lobster and it gives me a deep chill to see how well cared Leon is with you 🥰 Happy 1st Anniversary to you - I am sure Leon celebrates it too in his new home
I am sure you have heard this by now but i thought i would comment just incase. Established titles have been uncovered as a scam. I would be careful as you don't want some greedy company ruining your channels reputation. From a dedicated Leon fan 💙
I'd always wondered how people safely transported live sea creatures over long distances- we know lobsters are okay with being out of water a little while but obviously koi would need to be submerged- the tote/inflated oxygen bag thing makes complete sense and you even explained how to position him in the car! Lord Leon is quite fortunate to have such care and attention given to him. His new friends/servants/ possible late-night snacks are a nice addition too!
I was wondering about Leon a few days ago!! I was thinking "huh, I haven't seen that lobster in a bit, I hope he's doing ok" while scrolling youtube looking for the perfect video, and saw this! It makes me happy how much care you put into him and your cats. You are a good soul!
Wow, León seems to really trust you and be really resilient. That he ate so quickly after being moved is impressive since it shows he wasnt that phased with the move: "this human is up to his silly antics again *sigh* but it usually means bigger space and human feeds me"
Aww, poor sweet Leon sulking in the corner when you took his rocks. I love how much care and attention you put into transporting him safely and getting him into that awesome new tank. He's going to love all of that new space, maybe we will even get to see him swim backwards one day.
I rarely leave comments, but your "Leon the Lobster " video series inspired me. I appreciated you noting (in the first video) that your motivation for rescuing Leon / giving him a “forever home” was not meant to be a negative commentary on the meat industry nor those who enjoy eating lobster. I will say though that as a vegetarian (and marine biology enthusiast!), it really warms my heart to see you save and care for this beautiful, fascinating creature. These videos are really well done- very informative, detailed and professional like a documentary, but with a wonderful, casual, person touch.
I have really liked following Leon and his new life. I did come across this info and thought I would share. : Humans grow old - But not lobsters. In normal cases of cell division, the shields at the end of our chromosomes - called telomeres - are remade a bit smaller, and so a bit less effective after each subsequent cell division at protecting our DNA. When this reaches a certain point, the cell enters senescence and will stop dividing. It won’t self-destruct but will just carry on and wallow as it is. Lobsters, though, have a special enzyme (unsurprisingly, called telomerase) which makes sure that their cells’ telomeres remain as long and brilliant as they’ve always been. Their cells will never enter senescence, and so a lobster just won’t age. However, what evolution giveth with one hand, it taketh with another. As crustaceans, their skeleton is on the outside, and having a constantly growing body means they are always outgrowing their exoskeletal homes. They need to abandon their old shells and regrow a new one all the time. This, of course, requires huge reserves of energy, and as the lobster reaches a certain size, it simply cannot consume enough calories to build the shell equivalent of a mansion. Lobsters do not die from old age but exhaustion (as well as disease and New England fisherman). Keep Leon safe and happy..
Leon has become like my own pet. I just enjoy checking your videos and seeing that he is still doing great. A little gem on the RUclips universe and it’s such a wholesome feeling to see him again! Keep up the great “lobster parenting” skills sir!
If anyone watching wants a pet like leon, I recommend a crayfish. They can live in a more managable sized freshwater tank and still have leons interesting behaviours. I caught one out of a local marsh that was an inch or so, kept it for a year, until she grew into her gorgeous adult colours- blue shell and green claws. I let her go back into the same marsh, hopefully she found a boyfriend and didnt become a herons snack.
I'll never forget the 1st Leon video I watched.. I think it was the 1st one. I told everybody and my family about it and we are all hooked. Thank you so much
Brady, I have a suggestion; would you ever consider making a “sleep/relaxation” video of Leon? Your videos are relaxing but way too interesting to make anyone sleepy lol At any rate, your cinematography is outstanding, so gorgeous. And Leon is mesmerizing ❣️
I've been following Leon and, by proxy, the pride of cats, and as a former rescue worker you've made me smile to see you brought all of your pets with you! Brought tears to my eyes. May all your fur and aqua babies live long lives.
Be prepared to have a lot of birthday parties for Leon : Lobsters can live up to 40 years so depending of how old he was when he was caught, he'll be with you for A WHILE xD
Lobsters are one of the few species considered to be "biologically immortal" meaning they don't deteriorate and die from old ago, they actually become more fertile as they get older. Obviously they're still eaten by other animals, they can die from disease/parasites, or, as they get REALLY big, they can die from exhaustion during the molting process.
They can live 100 years if well cared for. He is precious, and your love for him -- and top shelf care -- are super inspirational... I also love lobsters and crayfish, and really admire you for taking such good care of him! God bless you both. Appreciate your kindness, brother. Aloha.
Brady, you really know how to make some content. Your work has a very professional, high quality feel to it. The visuals, music, funny short edits of Kung Fu Cat… you add a lot of much needed love in this world when people watch Leon. There no way I’m the only person that gets those warm feelings seeing Leon’s progression.
You are not alone feeling this :) I watched every video that Brady has uploaded. Soothing visuals, relaxed pace, good editing and ultimately a video about saving a little animal who is a part of this world just like we are. Also, Brady has a voice of a man who knows what he is doing. This alone makes me feel relaxed and good.
Maybe not all of Leon's videos get as many videos, but he's got quite a few thousands of people that loyally watch every single step of his journey, and I think that's just amazing. Wishing you the best! All hail Lord Leon!
FYI: at some point, YT unsubscribed me fr your channel! I was here from the very beginning and am now catching up on all the "episodes" I missed! Luckily, it's only the last year. Btw, I NEVER doubted that Leon was Leon, nor thought you could ever be the type of person who would lie or replace Leon like that to try to fool people for views. You are fantastic with animals, and I have no doubt Leon will be here for many years, decades even, to come! I bet he was SO excited to explore his new pad! I'm sure for the future, he will feel less stressed during any time he needs to be moved, but he _will_ be expecting upgrades! 😂 Do you ever move things around or move things in his new enclosure? Have you ever tried giving him some type of toy? Not sure what a lobster would find fun to play with, but it would be interesting trying to find out and discovering he likes playing with something! Ps: if Yuu haven't updated the merch, you should make him blue in the new merch! A blue lobster plushie would be SO cool!
I've been following Leon's journey from the beginning. I've really enjoyed his story. I've noticed over the last few videos that I am also coming to enjoy the cinematography and the effort you put into these videos. They really read like a nature documentary with interesting facts, tips, and information that I wouldn't find in a documentary. I love learning about all of your animals and your life, along with Leon's. Thank you for the work you put into sharing this story.
Hello from New Zealand to you and Leon. What a thoroughly delightful person you are and your care of Leon and your kindness towards your other pets is a pleasure to behold. Down here we only have crayfish, which look very different to Leon, so in your videos, when you capture Leon's unique personality, intelligence, mannerisms and quirky behavior, I can really appreciate the magnificent specimen that Leon is. Thank you very much for allowing us all to see and get to know such a lovely creature.
these videos always make me wonder about lobster cognition. how much does leon understand about his situation? does he know that he's safe with you? does he miss the ocean? or is his life just an endless stream of stimuli and reaction with no room for anything else? regardless, this channel is such a rare and special look into the life and habits of an animal most of us only see in person on a dinner plate. thank you for being so dedicated to his continued care and to documenting this journey.
@Jennifer B calm or shut down? Animals sometimes go docile in stressful situations, too. It's unfortunately impossible to know which behavior he was expressing, imo. But he is safe, whether or not he has the faculties to understand that, and he's got a long, peaceful life ahead of him. I guess that's the important thing.
I wonder this too. Like, the tank is bigger but a similar layout to his old one, does he know he's moved or does he just think he was in the tote for a bit then put back in? How much of the world outside the tank can he see and comprehend? Or can he tell the water composition is different?
Your cinematography is so relaxing and awesome! I love how much effort you put into your filming. As much as I love seeing Leon, I love that you put just as much effort into taking care of him as you do with filming nature. 😊

Really strange to think it's been a year. I still remember the first video, but I also feel like I've gotten to know Leon over a long period of time.

Never in my life did I think I would be emotionally invested in a lobster. But here I am.

Probably the majority of the viewers could write the same comment as you.
I guess I could take it even further and say I never thought I would spend so much time watching not just one but ALL the videos of a grocery store lobster!!! It sounds so boring but Leon is so satisfying to watch.
Right ay? Me too. 😂
Same here. I sat here going aww when everything was taken away from Leon. He looked so sad. And I wondered if Brady was right that Leon was thinking all good things had come to an end. I even thought he might have been remembering the grocery store and worrying that Brady was finally going to eat him!
Get A Life.
Same i was like dam its already been a year?????
My only qualm is the clout chasers trying to replicate Brady's success but with way too much "Youtubing it up".
for me it's the opposite, it feels like it was 3 years ago

Same here we've all been on this little journey with Brady and Leon 😁 it's awesome there are so many of us ❤️
I love that he ate almost right away meaning he wasn’t super anxious about his new place.

The change in their demeanor from day one is worth every ounce of sadness and frustration.
the fact that leon let you scrub his back and then let you put him in a bag with no struggle is truly amazing. he really trusts you.

I’ve been watching a lobster on RUclips for one year and no regrets
I wonder if Leon thought "Oh no...not THIS again"😰 But he soon found himself in a nice new home with some new friends 🦞🦀🦀. Happy 1 year anniversary, Leon🤘🏻

I love that Leon is a land owner now. He went from captive to landowner in just one year! 🎉🎉
Hello, Lobsters are that, friends 🙏🏻
Technically he's not.. That site is a scam as you can't legally sell a piece of land that small in Ireland.. At best you are just buying a gag gift which is the piece of paper.
And their "estate" is just a stirp of land on the side of the road which is already covered in trees and has been for decades.
@@SilvaDreams yeah, I’m aware. I really did think that they were a good charity though - before they didn’t say exactly how much they donated but I thought for $84 it would be significant. It was one tree.

Leon sure won the lobster lottery!
@Julia Mavroidi, There is a gage called a salinometer which tells salinity levels so you can adjust if needed.
Oh, don't call a lobster "fish" that's a lobster. 🙏🏻

Anyone know how long a lobster like Leon will live ?
@@Nellis202 Apparently they can live for quite some time. 30 years at least but they can potentially live even longer than that.

I would of titled the video "Leon went down to Georgia" but that's just me, glad to see him enjoying his new tank
It's really hard to think of lobster as food when I watch Leon make a nest. Thanks for all the work that you do!

A question raised when I saw that Leon could climb his rocks so well. Are you not afraid he could climb out of the aquarium? It looks amazing by the way, the aquarium.
Humans grow old - But not lobsters.

I love that you have so many cats! Truly living the dream.
Be prepared to have a lot of birthday parties for Leon : Lobsters can live up to 40 years so depending of how old he was when he was caught, he'll be with you for A WHILE xD
Lobsters can live much longer under the right circumstances. They could be a pet that is passed down generations in a family.
Or just eaten when the apocalypse comes before moving behind the bus fort 🫣
There are some scientists that even think lobsters can live forever.
You are not alone feeling this :)
I watched every video that Brady has uploaded.

Leon is good therapy and I also enjoy the music 🎵…
these videos always make me wonder about lobster cognition. how much does leon understand about his situation? does he know that he's safe with you? does he miss the ocean? or is his life just an endless stream of stimuli and reaction with no room for anything else? regardless, this channel is such a rare and special look into the life and habits of an animal most of us only see in person on a dinner plate. thank you for being so dedicated to his continued care and to documenting this journey.

I admit Brady... When I saw the title my first thought was, "And I hope you're moving with him!" Happy Anniversary to you and Leon. Thank you for this series. Whenever I see someone down, I share your videos. It's a wonderful reprise from the crap going on in the world right now. So very happy to be a citizen in the Lobster Nation!
Brady, it's heartwarming seeing you take such good care of a creature most people see as dinner. The new tank and your cinematography in this video are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Awe, poor Leon probably being all anxious when you took his stuff out not knowing he’s actually going to a bigger and therefore better home😅 Love how he got all spicy against you 😂 It shows he’s not ready to let go of life, he obviously enjoys life far too much to just give up without a fight 🤭
It’s wonderful to see he got a whole lot of years left thanks to you ☺️ Congratulations to Leon on the 1 year anniversary of his new life❤️ He seems to enjoy it and the new tank😃
Much love, from Sweden🇸🇪🥰
Just binged watch Sir Leo’s videos. Charmed.
Awesome Catherine! Thank you for checking them out. ✌️✌️✌️🦞
What a beautiful boy Leon has become. Thank you for giving him a new life and taking such good care of him!
