...I'd just like to see a way to buy his fave's on Amazon or in one quick buy... Sparrow, Peterson, this lever or that... We're mostly beginners looking up to his experience.
@@adg6280 I'd also love to see a "these are my absolute favorite, immediate go to" list, but locklab has a list of types of picks you "should" have in order to practice and I ordered the lot from Peterson under $100 last week.
Thank you for this review. I purchased a couple of weeks ago, it arrived last night, and I picked my first padlock tonight. Took me two nights and probably an hour total after 3 or 4 tires....kinda frustrated I could feel the cylinder move a bit and click back when my hand got tired. But when that Master 141t turned open just now...it's like I accomplished something. I *think* I learned a little bit about feel of clicks, core movement, binding pins, and how each tool in the set has a different touch. Thanks LPL, I can see myself with another hobby.
I bought a cheap combination lock and tried to decode it. I have yet to do it. Oh well. One thing I have learned from Bosian Bill and LPL is that picking locks is a skill set that you improve over time. I tell myself that.
It would be really hard to keep up with demand.... Unless you had the proper equipment. And willing to spend hours and hours. Would be cool. I would buy. Just not feasible. Prove us wrong LPL 😊
How about thinking that he just might possibly be asking him to ask his very favorite lick picking kit company to assemble a lickpickinglawyer kit that would work best for the adverage lick picking enthusiastic picker
Love your videos. I bought a few cheap sets, they can pick 99% of the tumbler locks in the US. If you want good picks for cheap, collect street sweeper bristles from the street and go to town to shape and bend them. I can guarantee they will work quite well for 99% of applications.
This should be an awesome starter set for me. I've been thinking about learning lockpicking as a hobby since watching your videos, and this should be a great starting point for me.
I've been struggling with a cheaper set, which is weaker and easy to bend or break. I just got these in the mail, and the amount of feedback I can get with these has made it way easier to tell what I am doing. Thanks for the recommendation!
Bought this before watching your video, and I use that massive hook as a warded pick. I opened two different warded locks with it, works really well. I’m sad my case doesn’t say “Honest” on it!
Even cheaper now! m.banggood.com/DANIU-12Pcs-High-Quality-Lock-Picks-Tools-Set-Lock-Opener-Locksmith-Tools-p-1139437.html?gmcCountry=US¤cy=USD&cur_warehouse=CN&createTmp=1&ad_id=443948744865&gclid=CjwKCAiA1eKBBhBZEiwAX3gql6MLD6tuAzM1LLRFuJqlL_32e4hFMnWlo6LO9pGLqWKsJflEHQgcGRoC1cAQAvD_BwE
Picked this kit up to start learning lock picking, thank you for this video! Now I just need to get myself some more locks aside from the packaged one to practice and learn with.
Good Day Sir, I have been learning from your wonderful videos for some weeks, bought the 'starter' set from Banggood, it was OK but a bit rough, now have a 28 piece professional set in a leather case, very nice with moulded handles. I appreciate I can teach you nothing but have a tip you may like to share. Levers, I, loved the video which confirmed my choice of putting the lever in the top to give me room, I adapted some of my own, then watched you say you preferred stiff levers? I made the ultimate you might like to pass on. Use an Allen key of whatever size you need, grind a flat on opposite sides at the end, it is good steel and with no flex. Like you, I love the feel of that slight movement when you set a tumbler. Thanks again.
I ordered this set as my first lockpick set. I have never picked a lock in my life but I've been enjoying your videos for almost a year now. The way you describe what you are doing is calming and very easy to understand. I have also subbed to bosnianbill and am looking forward to you guys helping me learn a new hobby.
I picked my first lock today... about 80 times 😂 I'm pretty happy with my purchase. The only thing I'm not happy about is apparently they stopped putting the "honest" label on the front. I have a padlock and a door lock that I found without keys and I was able to open both of them with every pick in the set.
It's kind of funny, I saw this set for the first time today, and you were the first person I thought of. Like you, I'm a single pin picker at heart and when I saw these I immediately got a big grin. When I ran the kit up on RUclips for validation, I chuckled when I found this review. I'm placing my order for them as soon as I finish this comment. As always, thanks for all you do to keep us all informed ... you do it the best!! Cheers Mate!!
I bought these picks over a year ago and they have been great to me. Still look new. I work as a maintenance guy for a living and people lose keys to padlocks or lock their keys in cabinets all the time. I practiced a lot on old padlocks until I got a feel for what I was doing inside the lock. I still suck, but even then I can usually get the lock open within 30 seconds to 5 minutes. If I can’t get it open after 5 minutes I try spraying WD-40 in the lock to loosen up the pins so I can feel them clicking better. I’ve never not been able to open a lock using this pick set.
Thanks LPL. I was putting together an order for Sparrows as a gift to a friend who is interested in picking and of course a few things for me. It was getting a little expensive, but this set looks like a good value. I'm ordering one for him and one for myself. I'll have enough money left over for a tubular lock picking set as well. If not for your endorsement I would have assumed these to be junk like most of the other cheap Chinese pick sets. Thank you for this review, and thanks for the HUK tubular pick set review. What a value that one offers. I've been on Peterson's waiting list for several months and I cringe to think how much I will spend on that one whenever they finally make more.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. I'm eventually giving this set away, but I'm also going to pick up a set or two for myself... do some longer term testing!
WARNING. I bought this kit (december 2020) and it's not the same anymore ! Picks are about 25% SMALLER, yes smaller then the old kit (in all dimensions, width, thickness and length). Tension wrenches are only 2 and one is paper thin and useless. I do own the old kit and was able to measure them side by side. New kit is useful only for picking small 60mm and smaller padlocks. Just a heads up for you ppl. Hope @LockPickingLawyer updates his review and passes the warning on.
Great review, TBH I wasn't expecting much from a set like that but was surprised with how well they came out, and for that price it seems rude not to order them, so I just ordered 2 :-)
Got my set today and it feels very good maybe on the thick side about 0.68mm or 0.027" but that can be corrected and the steel feels strong. The finish was acceptable and handle smooth over all nice finish so I think I got a good set for my money and the handle covers fits on my Praxis pick set which are a bit sharp on the edges. Good price even without the discount.
I have these, but mine didn't come with the acrylic lock. Of all the chinese cheap picks I have tried, I like these the best. So much so I bought three one for each car and one as a general back up. I guess a true statement of usability would be if we end up seeing these used through out you lock picking videos.
+Jess Hull Thanks for sharing your experience with them. This set I will eventually give away (as I do will all stuff I get for free), but for the price, I'm probably going to pick up a set or two for myself.
Just bought this a couple weeks ago. Got it in a flash sale for 12 bucks. Picked up some extra turning tools, some clear training locks, along with another pick set that seems to compliment this one with a good assortment of rakes and such. About 60 pieces in all. Can't want to get them. The site says they should be here on my birthday. :D
Quality seems to have declined since this review. I just received a set in the mail. The solder (or welds) that hold the pick to the handle are very sloppy and sharp. welds were partly missing on a couple of picks so that the picks folded at the attachment point the first time I used them. The picks themselves appear to have been cut using tools with serrated blades. so the top and bottom edges of the picks are also serrated, making it very hard to feel anything inside the lock. It may be possible to file off these rough edges, but the light sanding that was sufficient for LPL would not come close to cleaning up the set I received. I sent photos of the bent picks to banggood, who offered my $5 back. lol. RE: the included training lock. I used crazy glue instead of clear epoxy to fill the fake bolt holes. This caused them to turn white, instead of turning them clear as they did for LPL. My mistake.
@LockPickingLawyer I would really love to see an update to this, more to the point for your suggestions on a good quality (reasonable priced) beginning lock pick set (out of all companies). ALSO a "preppers" lock pick set suggestions would be great to see also. These may fall into the same sets, not sure. I have some locks right now that I can't open, including one on the door of an old rv on our property, because the keys are gone. watched your channel for sometime now, always found it interesting. So now I'm thinking about taking up the hobby. Thanks for all your informative and entertaining videos!
+Potti314 I did forget to mention it. I measured mine at .0255", but I should note that BosnianBill had a .028" set... so there may be some variation (though my set was pretty consistent. I'd say that they would be .025" or less after polishing.
LockPickingLawyer Thanks for responding to his question. I was just wondering the same thing. Great review ! I’m ordering and don’t even need it. But hard to pass up at that price. Any idea on how long the delivery time is ?
@@galdavonalgerri2101 Yes, all proper nouns in English are capitalized. :) Mr. Dova's critique of your question, if you're curious, is because in English the verb "To Miss" is a transitive verb, which means an object is required immediately after the verb. What you needed was an intransitive verb, which in this case would have been fail, as in "you failed to tell us...". That's really only something a native speaker would pick up on. Hope that helps!
I bought this same set on Amazon several years ago. It is one of the toughest sets that I have used so far, but several of the hook profiles don't make any sense. That being said, I have picked locks with every one of them.
This kit now has 40-something % discount on BG. I just bought one so 9 pcs. left.... I hope the quality of my set is comparable to LPL's... Will share my experience here...
This looks actually like one of the best beginner kits, also looking at the price, you can get at the moment. Wow, very surprised about the good quality :). Only downside is as you mentioned that you can't buy single picks , but hey, for this price you can take a complete new set ;). Thanks for your honest review and I hope many will see and buy this and scare the "traditioal" manufacturers a bit with their sometimes crappier quality and horrendous prices.
way easier than going all pyro on this and potentially warping/discoloring it you can just hit it with some gloss coat like nail polish/varnish or most preferably an acrylic gloss coat from an art/hobby store and bet set for life on it
I think that these appear identical to one of the majestic sets I have. The spot welds on mine seem poorly finished at factory, but a pleasing feel due to the long handles. Like all picks, could do with a run through the grits from 1000 to 6000. I use a 6000 Japanese waterstone to get a mirror shine on the shafts. Some of the profiles are two clunky and benefit from some filing to improve their excessive height and corners. I can’t agree with Sparrows being the best in terms of FAF. I received 10 notched deep hooks, all of which had a big defect in the shaft. It looked like the vac table had failed and let the blank slip during cutting. They said it was because the steel was so hard, haaaa, sounds like something you tell first time tourists, haaaa. Anyways, they sent me 10 replacements bless them, but shows QC can be a little dopey. My best picks are Southord Max picks, there’s not a pick which has managed to displace them in my main set.💪💪💪🤣♥️♥️♥️
tell u what but I started about a year ago picking BC I had two sergerys on my shoulder so I had a lot of down time and I'm a prity actve person with work and all so I ordered a cheap ass set and bosionbill got me started and IV recently found u and I'm very impressed with u and ur reviews specaly for guys like me that don't want to put a lot of money into this at one time in ur cheaper reviews I'm arety looking at this set to get BC like u I'm a hook person the only rakes I like are the triple bogata and a rocking pick I have I don't know the name off and this has many different hokes I like thank u man keep up the good work and whish I could get into ur giveaways never had much luck in that stuff tho lol
I wish you did yearly review of at least one cheap lock pick set that you consider worth the money. This set seems to have been very good for the price but it's no longer available. Maybe something like "A good initial set for year 2021" which includes a selection of cheap picks (a cheap set like this or a couple of individual picks) and a lock or two suitable as training locks instead of those acrylic locks.
So, are there any current lock pick setsthat you recommend? I see this one was reviewed a couple of years ago. Love all that you do! My husband follows your videos and enjoys what you do and since he is into security with his position, what he sees with you, is even more interesting. Thank you for any and all tips.
LPL, you forgot to show us the thickness of the picks. I bought the set. They are around .31 thousands. Too thick for me, although they are well built. But simply too thick for so many of the keyways encountered here in the U.S.
I'd be happy to get this as a gift but as a hobbyist/dabbler I tend to try picking w/ random things or when I walk around town I always find spring steel pieces from the street cleaning machine (it's almost like a flat bike spoke) and I'll make picks... I'd like to say it's cause I'm frugal but it's more like I don't have the funds since my son was born, It's always a question of Do I get him a new toy or do I get one for myself¿? In the end, he always wins¡! LoL Seems I'm a little late for the discount so I'll just say, Thank you for the informative video and keep up the good work¡!
The BangGood sent to me from Hong Kong to Canada internally damaged piano. Do you know why they do it? I would buy the same from any mainland seller without any damage or signs of abuse.
I have this set from Christmas one year! Wish it had a top of keyway tension but meh. They are also the thickest picks ive seen and are hard to get through some keyways.
LockPickingLawyer I enjoy the vids posted by two lock pickers. BosnianBill is one and you are the second. I've come to rely heavily on the advice and recomendations of the two of you. Please keep posting and thank you!
I've watched a lot of LPL videos, I've been watching since 2017. it's very odd that I found this video through a banggood listing and not the other way round.
Can you please do a newer review of a lockpick kit, since theese links dont work anymore either, I can't find a proper kit, that I know is good, and worth the money.
I purchased a set of these and the bag it was shipped in was delivered to me empty. Someone in US Customs had sliced it open, removed the set and sent the empty bag on through. Banggood made me send photos of the empty bag before they would refund my money.
i know nothing about lock picking but I'm intrigued and just want to learn how it all works. ill probably get me a one time purchase sparrow set, any suggestions on what set you would recommend? thanks.
+Emmanuel Mata I'm not familiar with their sets, but to start with, you don't need a big set. Develop your skills with a small set of a couple hooks and rakes, then make your decisions about expanding your tool set once you understand picking and can make an informed decision about what works for you.
I ordered the set from Banggood 10 days ago and I just received a pet grooming vacuum in the mail. DO NOT order any products from that website. Called customer service and they would not issue a refund or send out the correct item to me until I completed an online form and return the wrong item back to them which I would have to pay shipping.
Great review, I saw those awhile ago didn't know if they were any good and thanks to your input I made the choice purchase a set. My question is... Where can I find some of the tension tools in the set separately?
How do you decide which pick to use, with ten variations of hook? I'm a beginner, I started out with one of the cheapie lockpick sets from Amazon, and have now upgraded to a handful of Peterson picks and home-made ones - but I can still only open most of the Masters, half of the others, and none of the American locks.
didn't hear... might of missed it. what was the blade thickness ? ps; as you do great reviews & videos... I do want to give advice to the holes in acrylic lock (sense you know how to refinish) use hacksaw & file to reshape it.
Took a look at my best padlock I've ever owned today and thought NO I will never try to pick something like that. It's one of those with spinning discs like an old classic Abloy and I assume that lockpicks like these wont cut it here. It's a Swedish Anchor Lås (Lås means lock in Swedish) 800-3 Hardened.
Hi LPL: I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now, and I want to start getting into lock picking. Do you have a list (with links) of some good tools to start out with, preferable without breaking the bank? Also, are there any common physical stores I can purchase lock-picking/locksport equipment from? Thanks.
Thought I would give it a try well it worked out £14 in uk so kinda had to have to buy lol New Years present to my self were see if it's worthy for the lock lab lol
LockPickingLawyer you never know if your getting good or bad picks be nice to have a place we could walk around trying them I would love to put together a lockpick show in the uk so we can all tryout what's on the market ,
after watching him review all of these lock pick sets, I want to see a video of him showing his 15 favorite and most used tools
seems like a really god idea!
More like top 5. He doesn't even use 15 most likely.
Most times he uses no more than 3, Tensioner,Rake,Pick. But let's be honest he's a Pro hahaha I'd just either need a key or a K 12 Saw.

There's a great manufacturer building training locks: Master Lock. Due poor marketing decisions many people have mistaken those as real locks.

Id like to take a class with LPL.
Is there such a thing? As a lock picking class?
yeah, if you want to be a locksmith there are classes
I think there are free classes on Boston Street alleyways...
Xenon VH2 I wouldn’t doubt it, it is Boston
Just get a pick set, and some locks, and watch some videos, and practice

Aw crap I just bought them, hopefully the quality is the same if I sand them
Are you sure it's the same set?
$5 seems a bit low for this amount of picks, even cheap ones.
A wipe of Mek fixes it also.
The hole/bubble can be drilled and then filled with clear acrylic dust mixed with MEK.
Now vs Then, HUGE difference in quality and character development. Nice work LPL

Depending on how severe a scenario you anticipate being "prepped" for, your best lockpicks will be bolt cutters and crowbars....
Thanks for the review - I think you missed to tell us the thickness of the picks.
You need to learn better english
@@forest487 Shouldn't 'English' be capitalized?
My English teacher told so (I am from Germany).
Hope that helps!
bought this awhile back and use them alot and no problems with them...
+Zombie Lock Thanks for sharing. Good to hear.
The set is now 11.22US, now I know I just ordered another set but...
But you sold me on this one.
thank you just sent for one it came in at £14.35 good saving once again thanks
+Stephen Stone Good luck with it!
When?
@@armandomorales3809 may be two years later...XD
I bought one in China for ¥80,or $12.As a beginner I can't tell if it's good or not
This looks actually like one of the best beginner kits, also looking at the price, you can get at the moment.
+redcatimaging Agreed, for the price, it's hard to beat.
Purchased this set, after his review. Well happy with it. Much nicer finished than the cheapest eBay one I purchased first.
way easier than going all pyro on this and potentially warping/discoloring it you can just hit it with some gloss coat like nail polish/varnish or most preferably an acrylic gloss coat from an art/hobby store and bet set for life on it
We need an LPL set !!! However we need each tool to talk back to the user - stuff like "click outa 2" etc
No, that will be the name of the product 😂
Its nice to see some flex on those. Thats my biggest gripe on goso set ive tried in past. Zero flex, seem to bend almost immediately.
+OrMeanGene The flex is comparable to products from the more mainstream pick makers... no issues with that.
hi Thanks!
Working now, they do not allow order due to no stock!!Tried to pay and wait for backorder but no luck
Thanks again
Fiore
Sorry to hear that...
tell u what but I started about a year ago picking BC I had two sergerys on my shoulder so I had a lot of down time and I'm a prity actve person with work and all so I ordered a cheap ass set and bosionbill got me started and IV recently found u and I'm very impressed with u and ur reviews specaly for guys like me that don't want to put a lot of money into this at one time in ur cheaper reviews I'm arety looking at this set to get BC like u I'm a hook person the only rakes I like are the triple bogata and a rocking pick I have I don't know the name off and this has many different hokes I like thank u man keep up the good work and whish I could get into ur giveaways never had much luck in that stuff tho lol
Thanks, glad you like the channel and the reviews. As far as the giveaway go, good luck!
I would like to see you use some of those bazaar looking pics. I feel you're so comfortable with the standard pics.
Nice review of a surprisingly good set of hooks. I wouldn't call that a Bogota though.
+khaitomretro thanks
+LockPickingLawyer I'll be ordering a couple of sets. You can never have enough hooks :)
Sounds like a good starting set. Wish they were around about a year ago. Love that there's only one rake.
+Randy Perkins Some people may not like the lack of rakes, but for me it's perfect.
When my set turned up there was no rake at all, they'd replaced it with another hook. Perfect for me, but...
Just ordered this set 8 June 2021. The link no longer works, but a quick search on the site should find them.
I bought something like that years ago to understand the process and see the pins .
Quite decent for the price. Much better than the crappy Goso kit that I started with. :)
+Noctis Motus Agreed. Pretty good value.
had email today said out of stock till 15 of jan told them to send when back ,just to let you and viewers know.
Thanks for letting everyone know... I guess they got a few orders recently. ;-)
Hearing someone coughing in 2020.... It makes you react!
Well, the set comes from China....
So, are there any current lock pick setsthat you recommend? I see this one was reviewed a couple of years ago. Love all that you do! My husband follows your videos and enjoys what you do and since he is into security with his position, what he sees with you, is even more interesting. Thank you for any and all tips.
I have begun making my own Picks from Junior and regular Hack saw blades, seem to be working well thus far but i am a noob.
Considering the price, best set ever. Nice video.
Have you ever done a video explaining the different shapes of picks and how the different picks are used
Is there a good set with clear lock on Amazon you would recommend for a beginner?
This kit is currently selling at £8.96 in the UK (with free priority shipping) Promotion Sale From June 7 to June 14. Seems like a no-brainer.
I know this is late but a dip in acetone is another way to turn acrylic crystal clear again
Good looking pick set. Looks handy. The proof is in the pudding.
+Charles McKinney it is!
That's the set I got, they sell it on amazon. They really are quite nice.
This is on sale until November 2nd for 11.22$ so I finally decided to buy it yesterday
Can you please do a newer review of a lockpick kit, since theese links dont work anymore either, I can't find a proper kit, that I know is good, and worth the money.
Very Nice, definitly an upgrade from my windshield wiper picks...
Great video. Since this video is older, which set you now recommending as I don't see this one but similar
I got this set without the clear lock. i paid just over $13 for the set( I bought 2 sets). this set is great but it does NOT have a city rake.

I purchased a set of these and the bag it was shipped in was delivered to me empty. Someone in US Customs had sliced it open, removed the set and sent the empty bag on through. Banggood made me send photos of the empty bag before they would refund my money.
If you ever got a second set, did that come through or does customs gut every set?
i know nothing about lock picking but I'm intrigued and just want to learn how it all works. ill probably get me a one time purchase sparrow set, any suggestions on what set you would recommend? thanks.
+Emmanuel Mata I'm not familiar with their sets, but to start with, you don't need a big set. Develop your skills with a small set of a couple hooks and rakes, then make your decisions about expanding your tool set once you understand picking and can make an informed decision about what works for you.
The product link no longer works :( Not surprising considering it's been a while. Any entry-level sets you'd recommend now?
@@AmiDonk Cheers.
I'm a beginner, I started out with one of the cheapie lockpick sets from Amazon, and have now upgraded to a handful of Peterson picks and home-made ones - but I can still only open most of the Masters, half of the others, and none of the American locks.
please tell me the most comprehensive quality set to buy as my initial purchase that can ultimately be added too as I learn and grow?
Mine arrived today :) But no bogota :( I think they doubled up one of the hooks.
Grrr... sorry about. Try to see if customer service can help -- they have been good with other people.
Actually, it's not that bad. I now have an extra hook, and I'm not much of a raker anyway. I'll invest in a decent bogota set later.
you are a.... WIZARD. the wizard of the locks ... VERY GOOD
I just bought this exact set fot ZAR 205 or 15USD. Hope it last a while untill i can buy a Multipick set
I'm assuming ZAR 205 excludes delivery charges (about ZAR 150)? I see it now for ZAR 257.93 to RSA
didn't hear...
might of missed it.
what was the blade thickness ?
ps; as you do great reviews & videos... I do want to give advice to the holes in acrylic lock
(sense you know how to refinish)
use hacksaw & file to reshape it.
+Torch of K.C.K. I measured mine at .0255". I see from BosnianBills video that his were .028"... I'd say .025" max after polishing before use.
LockPickingLawyer ,
sweet, thanks
Took a look at my best padlock I've ever owned today and thought NO I will never try to pick something like that. It's one of those with spinning discs like an old classic Abloy and I assume that lockpicks like these wont cut it here. It's a Swedish Anchor Lås (Lås means lock in Swedish) 800-3 Hardened.
maybe not a lockpick but a 12 gauge would I think
Np
Rule #2 for lock picking... (my personal rules)
Never pick a lock you rely on¡!
Almost 1mil
Hi LPL:
I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now, and I want to start getting into lock picking. Do you have a list (with links) of some good tools to start out with, preferable without breaking the bank? Also, are there any common physical stores I can purchase lock-picking/locksport equipment from?
Thanks.
i feel like asking on a more recent video wouldve been better mate
wonderful review .THANKS FOR SHOWING. and explaining. nicely done. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😎
+Larry Marrs Thanks.
The kit is now $29.70 with lock (Aug 2018)
Thought I would give it a try well it worked out £14 in uk so kinda had to have to buy lol New Years present to my self were see if it's worthy for the lock lab lol
+John Dickenson Good luck with them!
LockPickingLawyer you never know if your getting good or bad picks be nice to have a place we could walk around trying them I would love to put together a lockpick show in the uk so we can all tryout what's on the market ,
When I got my law lock tools set i think I have every hook made or close to it!
@thelockpickinglawyer can you upload a new link
nice review, I think banggood would be pleased with your review ( very fair comments ) nicely priced to...
+tonyholt90 Well, it's a good product at a nice price... the review was deserved.
It seems this product is no longer available, is there another one that you would recommend that is similarly priced?
