As always, Nelson reviews hits everything important. Review of cards, gameplay mechanics and how the hero works in each Aspect. Thank you for the great review, can't wait until I recieve my AoA expansion.
She is a very unique hero! Just being able to see the top card of your deck is useful. Getting benefits depending on it's resources is great. Being able to swap it with Limbo is awesome! Having the option to play it, for one less resource! And that's not even mentioning her events! She was such a great addition to AoA and I can't wait to get her!
I like Magik, but the thing I discovered is that I don't like to play "Spiritual Meditation" with her. Too many times I'd come out of the Villain Phase with the deck all set-up for my Hero play and then realize if played "Spiritual Meditation" I'd draw those cards and ruin everything. The same with the one-off spells that came with Adam Warlock because they would discard those cards. So, with the exception of "Sorcerer Supreme" and her "Basic Spell", she's ironically the Mystic Hero I don't want to play Mystic cards with. Other than that, I do enjoy the deck manipulation antics she allows and the "puzzle" she presents in playing her cards. Enjoyed your review, good luck at Con of Heroes!
It's funny that you mention a worry about how long a Magik turn can take because that's a similar complaint about Gandalf in Lord of the Rings. Occasionally, you even hear the term "Gandalf Guy" when your turn takes forever. I'm excited to try out Magik once I get my copy of the new box!
Is that what Gandalf Guy means now? I remember when it referred to that guy who would play hero Gandalf so no one else could play the ally version. Oh, how the times change 😂
@@mitch-TO Interesting. I don't think I've heard "Gandalf Guy" in that context before. I guess it can be used in either way, but I don't think anyone would be too upset to see hero Gandalf on the table unless they were playing some wierd deck all about looping ally Gandalf over and over.
@@jard97 for the first few years of the game’s life, ally Gandalf was everywhere. In every deck. Always. So it was a bigger deal back then. Nowadays, I rarely use ally Gandalf, so I assume others are the same.
Great review as always. It’s funny when I first played through the expert campaign I misread basic spell and thought it did all 3 lol. Safe to say I was pretty unstoppable 😂
I love Magik in aggression. It's a ton of fun loading up her deck with aggression cards that have printed fist resources and then using them to really exploit the Hulk ally and swinging for 5 damage minimum with him every turn.
Any idea when you will update your tier list? We keep putting new heroes in the A tier, but with 51 heroes, only about 12 heroes actually fit in the A tier. I feel like we need to know where the cutoff from low-A to high-B is.
Have you tried Magik with Cosmo + Enraged, Energy Spear, and Sidearm? You might reconsider Aggression not being your top aspect then. Hulk ally also fits nicely, but I found my deck at odds between trying to get a lot of physical resources for Hulk and wild resources for Magik, so I ended up cutting him. Playing her in the Age of Apocalypse campaign allows you to get some out of aspect cards for Cosmo as well to really break the game.
Great review, of a good hero, but i feel that we need to get the reviews from the heroes that we are missing before continue with the new stuff i.e. war machine, drax, spectrum, etc.

Have you tried Mutant Protectors with her? I think she is actually one of the best platforms for it and she can potentially play it for discount.
Thanks for the overview!
Excellent review, thank you!

Fantastic review! The Con was awesome. Keep up the great content!
I'll save the specifics until we record Shadow of the Cast - but wanted to say I really enjoyed this review! Magik is incredibly fun!

Oh that makes sense!! And she’s a blast excited to hear what you think!

Arkham Horror Joe Diamond vibes 😎
Seeing a couple comments about it now, would most def love to see a Magik'pool video.
Magik is a top 3 hero for me. Love her in protection so much (my favorite aspect - I play 2H)
This is great...but cmon FFG wheres the Nightcrawler & Beast previews already?!?!

What about Symbiote Suit?
what happens if you have a resource at the top of deck, can you use it?
No sadly, but you can use Limbo to swap it with something!
I've played over 500 games in true solo - and Magik Pool is the strongest I've ever played. Feels unfair!
Oh that’s awesome!!
Blood gem is so dangerous when you're greedy like me, lol. But yeah, Magik has instantly become one of my favorite heroes in the game.
Her strongest aspect is pool so idk why you didnt include that
