Hey mate. I just wanted to say thanks for this review. I had a pinch flat and cracked rim on my first ride at the rock garden at Chipline (Daisy Hill). I was miffed to say the least. I looked at tubeless and cushcore but just couldn't see how it would have saved me (picking the shit line lol). This vid came up and I grabbed a set. Holy shit. I can run my front at sub 20psi, way more grip, feels dense on the ride and saves me from poor line choice. Tannus armour is no joke - so good I chucked a set on my daily commuter which saved me slipping my rear tire into a storm water grate! I F-ed up on the inner tube size first attempt to install bit once I got that right, EZ as. Hope I see ya out on the trails!
Thats absolutely insane to hear your storey buddy, I do videos like this to hopefully help riders benefit from their time and efforts on the trails so you alone have warranted the message ive tried to get across.. I purchased a set and was simply blown away at just how much my cornering improved, I soon realised I no longer need to pick lines through the Chipline Rock Garden and better still, no more need to worry about topping up sealants and tyre pressures.. Hopefully see you on the trails sometime soon, come over n say hi if you see me Chris 👍
@mythoti yes it does work as I know of electric scooter businesses doing this. BUT I WARN YOU, apparently you need to approach this task with patience as it can be a tight fit on the smaller wheels. A retailer I know
@@FlowmentumMTB Tannus just got back to me saying the 2.5 will work, but cutting it voids the warranty and they can't guarantee it will hold back together, do you know what methods they used to achieve this? Rn I'm looking at Shoe Goo, 24x2.5 cut into 2 12x2.5's with each end cut into a zig zag formation to help interlock it with the 2 inches of extra headway, do you have any thoughts or suggestions on better ways to approach this?
@@mythoti technically you should not need to cut it into 2, id just cut once and shorten it to the desired length, this way you will only have 1x join, not 2. If you know someone that knows how to sew thats what id do, sew it together and add a little shoe goo as well. Once installed if cut correctly the join should sit flush anyways. I can only guess the reason warranty is void if cut is due to the fact that you have created a possible open slot for a foreign object to slip through into the tube, chances are very rare but could happen..
I can also recommend it without any reservation. I guess it's still not widely known, because I have no explanation why it hasn't become the main system for offroad MTB so far. Greetings from Germany.
Agree completely BadDuke. I have however just recently stepped on over to the TANNUS Tubeless and loving it, very similar feel to the tube version but slightly lighter
I'm a heavy weight person who wants to start bike riding for health, in your opinion, do you think that this product will strengthen the tire so as to support 250 to 300 lbs..? Seems like it would at least make the tires more durable
100%.. Im 245poound and ride very aggressive, and can still run low tyre pressures without the sidewall collapsing.. Best things is that it will also help to MASSIVELY reduce getting punctures.. Without a doubt the very best $60 you can spend...
What you don't mention are the 'maintenance' suggestions that because the foam compresses, you should deflate the tyres when not used (between rides?!) even remove them and have a steamy shower with them! WTF! 😲
I didn’t mention it as I’d not heard of it at the time I did the vid, funny thing is that in the 18months I used thee one set I never had a single issue. I have since heard of a few that have compressed over time but all due to running a higher psi than is needed. I never ran anything over 24psi on mine and certainly wouldn’t go as far as suggesting anyone needing to deflate between rides. If they have then return them to your dealer, they just may replace them for you 👍
@@FlowmentumMTB the exact wording on the side of the box: "Armour care Thousands of satisfied riders love the comfort and convenience of Tannus Armour. However, though recommended, running Tannus Armour with a tube can cause the Armour to compress over time. Compression will vary depending on the rider's weight, psi and riding environment. Even wnen compressed, Tannus Armour still provides cushion and puncture resistance. Here are a few tips for increasing the longevity and performance of Tannus Armour. 1. Deflating the tyres when not in use allows the Armour compound to rebound. 2. To accelerate the rebound process you can leave your bike in a warm sunny area up to 4 hours. 3. If you're looking to rebound the compound even faster, uninstall the Armour and place in a hot steamy shower for 1-2 minutes without letting the water directly hit the Armour"
@@FlowmentumMTB no its fine! I just assumed it was fit and forget. No review ever mentioned it. My first ride on them today. Put 21-22 psi on my Trek Rail 5 29 x 2.6 tyres. Maybe needs to be lower. Lets see.
@@johnf3326 it’s all good. I work in the industry selling these and have heard of no more than a handful of these compressing, I’m guessing Tannus have now added that warning/suggestion simply to play it safe but I’ve literally sold hundreds n hundreds. On the Rail in a 2.6 tyre I truly doubt you will have issues. You are going to LOVE these, the ride is amazing,
Hey Armin Tamzarian, it has been many many months now and Nerang is also my local, since installing these my mates have had slashed tyres and flats on Tubeless and still nothing for me, actually my key 3 riding buddys have also now swapped over to Tannus and loving it. Im still running 14psi front and 18/19psi rear, still, loving the extra smooth ride and the increased tyre traction and stability.. I wont be getting off these Tannus anytime soon as I see absolutely no need to.. It is a great investemnt for sure..
@@FlowmentumMTB Interested to see the review on these 2yrs later. How are they now since the original review? Awesome review and I'm really interested in making the switch!
@@justing888 good question, I can’t tell you what they physically look like as I’ve not paid any attention when I last changed the Tyres. They are now 3 1/2yrs old and still doing the job they did when first installed, these wheels are and have been on my 18yo sons bike for the past 2yrs plus.

Do you think if I bought one of these and chopped a 20x2.5 in half, and used each half to line my Escooter tires that are 10x2.75, would that work?
