RIDING THE BEST WHEN YOU'RE AT YOUR WORST - MTBing Isn’t Always Easy
Whats Up Everybody, Welcome Back!
First up I would like to apologise for the average sound quality, I have a new Hero13 and had the wrong sound setting applied, its not bad but it lacks that crisp audio I would expect if watching.
Today we have headed back to Mount Cotton MTB Park, one of my most favoured trail networks in SEQ due to the diversity offered on one Hillside.
However I didnt think this one through and this is not a place to come when your still a bit rusty from a total knee replacement.
Anyways I got all trails ridden and without a crash but I assure you y’all would have laughed most of the way through this video if it was all 3rd person footage, many sketchy moments and mistake...

Well, if that's not feeling, it ! Flying down one of the techy trails around like a boss, it's really cool to watch ❤
@kylieditteich7810 Hah thanks, I complained but it was still a great ride 👊😬
Mate it’s so good to see you back on the bike and making vids again too. You’re an icon for the SEQ networks
Thanks Josh, appreciate the words. let’s ride soon mate.
A great ride Craig, it seems like your knee is feeling very comfortable on the trail😁, that makes me very happy for you🙌. It was great to watch you and enjoy the ride. Great riding and a cool video. Ride on and have a great week buddy✌. Ride on🤙
Thanks Christoph, knee is back on point and only hurts a little now so I’m happy. Thank you as always for your kind words 👊👊
Nerangs my local and I LOVE IT. Haters gonna hate, more trails for me ha ha
Hah you sound like me, I couldnt agree more.
E-bikes are great for post surgery rides! Love to see you back
Couldn’t agree more, especially for the knees. I found that it allowed me to ride more pre-surgery as well. Has been a blessing.
Awesome riding mate. I love the style of Mt Cotton. Unfortunately my knee is minimum 2 years away. You're knee seems to be great.
Yo Coasty I agree, the style of Mount Cotton is unique, exciting and can be very challenging if your willing to get off the brakes a little. Don’t delay having your surgery if you can, the quicker the better if your knee is not good, it leads to more damage and a tougher surgery.
Haha i wish my best riding was as half as good as your sketchy riding. Killing it
Hah thanks for the words Scott, what you can’t see is a blessing but I have always said that a bad ride is still a good one, I guess that sums up this ride here.
Welcome back to another shred session on the bike, back at Mount Cotton this time to see how the trails were looking and although a little loose everything was riding reasonably well. Who else has ridden Mount Cotton and what do you love about it most?
Deep breathing
Unfit n overweight.
Go 55!
👊
For those that don't know, 6 foot rear wheel touch down landings take a toll
Haha not if your smoove enough.
What tyres you running?
Hey asasnapparel im running the new Michelin eWild Racing Line tyres, im blown away at the amount of traction these held on all the loose corners.
Thanks for the review.. yes I'm 5 years late. I run the Tannus Tubeless on my Norco Sight in the rear - works well. However, I have a Hardtail that with just tubeless and no insert (trying to keep it light) I keep upsetting that rear wheel (95KG doesn't help). I'm seriously considering these - I'm getting pretty sick of dealing with the mess of tubeless and rimming a tyre that is otherwise good and ruining the bead (wont seal anymore). Do you still rate these today?
Hey @rotormanMTB your never too late if the product is still in demand and doing what it should. The “Tubed” version is more popular now than it was 5yrs back. I’m running the tubes version on my eBike and absolutely loving it just as I did in the video. I ride a 29” eBike and use a 26” tube inside the 29” Tannus just to help reduce sone weight but no issues at all and I’m ploughing through rocks n rock gardens without hesitation. I still strongly recommend this for those that don’t want to go tubeless, infact I still prefer the ride qualities & reliability of the Tubed version of Tubeless but still run tubeless on my MTB only due to the weight. .
@@FlowmentumMTB Hey there, thank you for getting back to me..... didn't expect to see the 26inch tube being used in a 29er. ebike for me is planned so its good to know that works well for you so that's something i'll consider. Do you deflate after your ride and reinflate for the riding ahead? or is that not really a thing?
Considering you've had a few months off the bike, you're still in great from on the trails! Good to hear you've recovered from you knee op well.
Thanks a bunch Paul, I guess the old saying “It’s Like Riding a Bike” is legit huh, you never forget. Appreciate the props 👊
Welcome recovery Fish. It you had off turn left after coming out of Nirvana and headed down barking dog you would of nearly been to my place. Nirvana is a tough track if your not fit. Great to watch your vids again.
Noel we have to catch up for a pedal there then yes? Nirvana is tough and no way I could do it without stopping on my MTB……
Agreed. My riding is a bit all over the place. Some months I ride more then others. So I'm not always fittish. My theory is that I'm still not old enough for an Ebike😂 YET.
820 bars!! Good to have you back, good luck with the recovery!
@@MTBMcPhee yep, absolutely love the stability and comfort, have put in a lot of trial n error hours with 780, 800 and even ran 840 but settled on 820mm as it just felt the best overall.
Nice vid Craig ! Great to see you smashing the trails again. If you hadn't mentioned the operation, I don't think anyone would have noticed. Crazy fast recovery. Stoked for ya man🤘👊
@@MTB_MICK thanks a bunch Mick, still a ways to go but the 1st stage recovery is looking positive.
That a-line in the rock garden on flying cloud always gets me! always feel like im gonna go OTB when ever I ride through it! crazy to think you had a full knee replacement such a short time ago man, couldn't even tell!
@@bikesandbulletsMTB that rock garden is soo good, I stuffed that run right up but the knee held up and that’s what I needed. Catch ya for a ride soon.
Good to see you back fish 🤘
@@joshprentice430 thanks Josh, be seeing you soon buddy.
Is this in brisbane
South of Brisbane, trails start at the Quarry roundabout on West Mt Cotton Rd.
Glad to see you back on the bikes.
Stoked to be back on it again, hope all is well mate.
Epic to watch as always. That front wheel wiggle after the rock garden in Flying Cloud and the “Holy Shoot!” moment had me giggling haha.
Was soo close to arms completely collapsed.
@ was a wiggle and a half don’t blame ya. Keeping the elbows relaxed as you say would have gotten ya out of that haha.
Welcome back Craig look at you spilling the claret on your first ride back after surgery, this video might just be the kick in my big fat arse that I need to get back out on the bike…been a while may have to re-home the spiders currently living on it 😂
Hey buddy, yeah I’m not sure what got me but it did a good job. Don’t worry about finding a new home for the spiders, just spray em and get riding mate.
good vid bro, looking for some new places to ride and it's always good to check out your vids - keep up the good work mate :)
Thanks so much for the props, appreciate you mate 👊
Great to have you back man, glad to see the recovery has gone well Entertaining as always!
Hey Cameron, stoked to be back and thanks for the props👊
Great video Craig, it's really great to see you back on the trail. That was a really wild ride for your knee not being 100% pain free yet. The Nirvana trail looks like a lot of fun, but it was crazy to see a bush make your arm bleed. Great riding mate and great entertainment as always. Happy new year to you and your family mate. Lots of adventures this year and all the best. Ride on and have a great weekend🙌✌🤙
Hey Christoph, it feels soo good being back on it again. Yes Nirvana was a fun trail and I’m keen to get back on it for sure. Happy New Year to you, your family and to your amazing network of MTB Mates. Stay Rad legend 👊👊
@@FlowmentumMTB Thanks a lot bro🙏
Welcome back on the trails Craig. Great to hear things went well with the knee replacement. Absolutely love Nirvana.
Thanks a heap Scott, yes I’ll certainly be heading back to Nirvana for sure 👊
@@FlowmentumMTB How's the JAM2 going? I have a Jam 6.9 ATM and looking to upgrade. I like the 60 watt motor in a SL bike.
Scott I am absolutely loving the Jam2 SL, bike-wise it’s amazing to ride, the geo is perfect even though it has multiple geo adjustment options and the Fazua motor & battery absolutely blow my mind. I’m getting 60km app to a full charge and I’ve not yet encountered an incline where the motor won’t work. Best overall ride I’ve owned and ridden.

@DingleBerryMTB thanks mate, yes I’m really impressed, it can only get better from here. I just removed that other comment, it didn’t make any sence👊
@@FlowmentumMTB haha awesome dude! Your new knees give us all hope!

Yeah got the EBike and absolutely loving it but still want to ride my MTB more for sure Stubsy 😬🎉
Got worried fuck!

What is up crew & welcome back, I am super stoked to announce that I’m back and well ready for some proper consistency for the 2025 season. My complete knee replacement has held me back and taken some time to recover enough to be able to ride but im at that point know and keen to make 2025 a good one.. Thanks for everyones patience with me and most importantly for all the support you guys & girls provide, thank you… 2025 is here, Lets Get Into It!
I'm moving from NZ to near here, are there any tracks at nerang with big gaps?
Hey Max, no sadly nothing at Nerang with anything descent at all, but just 30mins drive down the road we have Boomerang Farm Bike Park, this place has some monster gaps and loads n loads of different trails from fast and flowy to big road gap downhill runs.. The place is awesome…. Good luck on the move, hopefully we will run into each other on the trails soon.
Great vid! I am heading to Brisbane from NZ in a couple of weeks time and looking forward to trying the Mount Cotton trail network! Could you recommend any place’s nearby that would hire out high quality e-MTB’s?
Hey FuriousMTB, you will love Mt Cotton, some fun trails but be cautious on Blacking Out as it has sections that can catch you by surprise. There is a shop not for from there called The Bike Shop, they are located in Logan and haven eBikes for hire. Super rad group of staff that will always go above n beyond to help you out. Matt Burks manages the store and is a good guy, they will help you out for sure. www.thebikeshop.au/?srsltid=AfmBOoqGaTS73mMMkVFlyB_ysDfIGkPzWlxXwwOmxoFfKkXkcCKT6qY8
I hope the knee surgery is going ok. Been missing your videos
Yo Steve Happy New Year to you mate 👊🎉 Recovery has gone super well, still hurts like a bastard when I land big but pedalling is fine which means im now able to get back to what I love, riding n posting it 👊
@FlowmentumMTB awesome news
Hey mate I’m in SEQ as well and have a adaptive mountain bike (3 wheeler) Would you be keen to go for a ride one day ?
Hey Nate, so sorry for my delay in reply, yes I’m keen for sure. What trails do you mostly ride around here?
@ hey mate, no problem. Iv only riden at spring mountain so far. I’m really keen to go to daisy hill tho
Hi, did you ever end up posting that full review? I am looking at one of these bikes and am just wondering how you got a long with it long term? Anything you'd change about it etc, or would you even get this against other options on the market.
Hey @Gillyske, yes I really screwed up with reviewing this bike as I only had it for 6 weeks app 12 months back and had all the footage needed and my remote harddrive crashed and I lost everything. So I’m ready now to do a long term review, I ended up buying the actual bike I had 12 months back. Out of the box there was nothing I’d change apart from my personal preferences like bars, Tyres n saddle. And now after owning it for 9months that’s still the only thing I’ve changed. I’m loving this bike overall, it’s light at less than 19kg, the Fazua motor still blows me away every ride and the bike is perfect in all aspects of geometry.
@@FlowmentumMTB that's a relief to hear. Not a lot of reviews out there from impartial sources. I have one on the way as it was the only sl that you can easily ride without a battery.
@ yes zero resistance on the motor, I’ve said it soo many times but damn that Fazua motor is impressive, I’m 110kg and it doesn’t seem to slow the Fazua down any.
@@FlowmentumMTB also a relief being a big dude myself. You ever think about putting a coil on the rear?
@ nah not a coil, I’d certainly like to upgrade the rear but have really felt no need, to my surprise the single chamber Fox actually works quite well. I have heard that coils tend to offer more benefits to the lighter rider but I’ve learnt over the decades to try for myself, I just haven’t.
just rode nerang today for the first time still trees over most of the trails that i rode - heaps along goanna loop and also a couple on elevator and baileys not sure if youre still recovering but if you have been out there recently, is it normally that rocky? like i know nerang is rocky and all but that seemed almost too bad
Hey Cameron, yes sadly it appears to be more rocky now than every, any soil we did have has mostly run of during the heavy rainfalls.
Whats the specs on that thing?
Can’t recall, Google will answer everything you need to know for sure.
this man can not feel steel. its just in his head
Can absolutely 100% feel the difference, especially the additional vibration damping you get from steel.
@@FlowmentumMTB its not the steel your feeling. Don't propagate this BS
No need to be so harsh about it but you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
Some poor bushwalker must have tripped and kicked their toe 🤣
Haha, actually sounds like my Mother In-law when she comes to visit..
Great video as usual Craig!! Cornubia is a ripper!!
Thanks heaps @Zara_edits12, I’m so eager to get back there now I’m able to ride properly again.
Lazy Manual
.
Hey mate. Looking at getting the Jam2 6.9 or the Sam2 6.9. Which one for SEQLD and Nerang do you recommend? Would the sam2 be too big and burly? Or the more poppy jam2 be better?
Is a mountain biker that doesn't like rocks - really a mountain biker? New trails look sick.
Haha no, if a rider doesnt like rocky trails stick to gravel or road, but sadly the same riders that whine about rocky trails also rubbish man made smooth flow 🤔
@ some people are only happy if angry about something 🤣
I ran the Force AM2 front and rear on my Scott Spark and i absolutely loved it. Now i run Wild Enduro front and Force AM2 rear on my Stumpy Evo and they are the bomb! I'm going to go Wild Enduro front and rear next and I'm really excited to see how it goes. I reckon it's going to be my permanent setup for my Stumpy.
Hey @KotakMeister thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, I have to agree with you on the Force AM2, so underrated and surprisingly grippy. Ive just fitted the WILD AM2 to my trail bike with a 2.4” rear and a 2.6” front and I think this will be z fun combo but I think ill end up with the Force AM2 on the rear keeping the Wild AM2 2.6” up front. Have you seen the new released Wild Enduro Racing Line tyres? They are the bomb, DH style casing but are now lighter with the 29” weighing in around 1250gms Vs the previous models at 1420gms.
@FlowmentumMTB The Wild Enduro Racing Line are the exact ones i have in my front right now...i wasn't clear on that. I absolutely love them. I don't know how they compare to other similar tyres but seeing how much i enjoy the Michelins, i won't find out soon. Great video btw. Subbed!
@ love your work legend, thank you for your support 👊
That opening shred was fire 🔥
Thanks for the words, trying what i can to make riding videos more watchable. Thank you.
