My grandfather told me stories about playing baseball on Wake Island while he was stationed there during the world war. You can still see the field on the satellite map. Interesting to think of a baseball field on a tiny territory in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Can we get a review of the worst minor league hockey venues? I worked at one that was a community rink that was expanded because a mob affiliate decided to buy his kid a team
Utqiagvik (oot-key-ah-vick) is pronounced almost exactly as it's spelt, except the g is silent. The Inupiat language is a pretty straight forward one when it comes to English writing translations. (Or you can do what the a lot of us Alaskans do and call it "the town formerly known as Barrow")
Fun fact, it was originally named Utqiagvik by the natives but was changed to "Point Barrow" in the mid 1800's, then just "Barrow" in 1901 when a post office was established in town, as people thought non-locals wouldn't know how to pronounce it (they were right). The name was voted on and changed back to Utqiagvik in 2016.
My platoon played a softball game, soldiers vs leadership on the field at GITMO. The field on the left has a high fence that wraps around 3/4 of the outfield. The fields themselves are really nice. Oh and the leadership absolutely destroyed the soldiers 30-4
The E-4 mafia is proud of you guys, make leadership feel proud and sad they did the troops so bad, that you have a chance to get a day off or get to go home early

Carroll B. Land is one of my "home" parks....seen 100's and 100's of games here at what is titled America's Most Scenic Ballpark :) There is a great stadium not far from the Fukushima Power Plant. I scored the opening game of the 2020 Olympics there! I went by the ballpark in Utquiavik (formerly Barrow) when I was there in January 2020....Wind chill was -59 below that day :) The new Hiroshima ballpark replaced the old one which was literally across the street from the A-Bomb dome where the nuke exploded!!
Yes, I saw that last one on the self guided tour, a surprising amount of times pro teams were bussed… err boated in to play against the prisoners (both in the military prison and Federal prison era. The army even had to explain why they “lost” $102 worth of balls (it’s not like anyone volunteered to dive into the bay to retrieve a home run ball)). Plus the families that lived on the island painted a diamond on the concrete parade ground so their kids could play in a little league.
If we're getting a part 2, you gotta mention the Campo de Beisbol da Lagoa in Rio de Janeiro. It's a very quirky little field where the pitching rubber faces towards Christ the Redeemer, which is less than 2 miles away from the field. It's also commonly used by recreational teams for the handful of Brazilians that actually play baseball (afaik).
Went to Point Loma for half a semester in 2020, great campus view and sick stadium but not the best in terms of academics it was also the pandemic so that played a factor as well.
I played at Point Loma for a high school travel tourney and it is soooo pretty. It's hard not to get distracted by the ocean when shagging in the outfield before a game
I played Baseball at Alfred State in NY and the college is in the middle of nowhere on the side of a giant hill which has another Private University across from it on the side of the hill. The baseball field is up on the top of the campus hanging off the side of the hill, has like 130 stairs up to the field. Super weird setup.
I was at Point Loma Nazarene University. My high school orchestra went to San Diego for my Sophomore season. Our competition that the school attended was held at the SD university.
Man I remember the time you did that high school baseball stadiums and that one in Weehauken showed up, the one sitting right on top of the Lincoln Tunnel.
If you’re making a part 2, there’s two New Jersey fields you should check out: Weehawken HS field, that’s over the Lincoln Tunnel entrance and Union City HE field, that’s on the HS rooftop.
The Union City field looks familiar in street view. He might have covered it in a weird football fields video & I think I may have looked it up after seeing it in that video.
In the town I grew up in there’s a large wooded area that’s private property on the edge of town and it had a section illegally logged so there’s a bare square in the middle of the woods now. The family who owns it wants to donate the land for the high school to have a decent baseball field as they currently play at a field that doesn’t have an outfield fence because it’s a public park the rest of time. The only problem is it needs a road built to the spot because it’s about 1km from the nearest road from town. Power lines too but road first. If that gets figured out there will be a baseball field in the middle of the woods with pretty much nothing around it.
Leavenworth Federal Prison has had a field since it opened, there’s images of the original from the 1930s and accounts of the prison team playing Federal League players in 1915…the original field was next to the current one, just angled in a different direction
Someday I would like to just set foot on the Alcatraz Island just to take a look at it. I've been on a boat that goes around it. I mean San Francisco is just an hour south from where I'm from anyways. But it would be interesting to see that crazy baseball diamond there. Did that old school minor league team the San Francisco Seals ever play a game there?
I actually played in a softball tournament at Al Assad while waiting to come back home. Our replacements had come and we were just waiting to leave Iraq, so we had a tournament. Good memories!
You have to do a part 2 with Estadio Harp Helu in Mexico City. It's within the F1 racetrack. "Diablos" also usted to play at Foro Sol at the same track
I’ve played baseball multiple times inside San Quentin Prison. Local college teams would go inside the prison to play a team of inmates. The umpires were all life sentence guys. The pitcher we faced my first year was in prison for murdering his wife with a baseball bat.
Aussie here, I don't remember being shown the Alcatraz ballpark when I took a tour, mind you that was 10 years ago when I was 16. Do you reckon you could do a vid critiquing the ABL (australian baseball league) stadiums? We've had a couple of big name players play here, including Ronald Acuna Jr and Delmon Young for my local Melbourne Aces
The Area 51 field is actually a softball field (no grass on the infield, the bases are 65 feet apart, the outfield dimensions are all less than 280 feet).
Utqiagvik is pronounced "oot kee ahg vick". Although you probably know the place as Barrow, Alaska. The tribal council decided to change it to be more aligned with their historical name.
There's a ball field in the middle of Kathmandu, Nepal. It's inside an athletic club owned by the US embassy and I used to play there. We'd play embassy workers/expats past their prime vs. young Nepali cricketers that learned the rules of baseball. Usually the Nepalis won 😂
Bro you have not seen the baseball and softball fields in my county😂. All the online maps haven’t been updated yet, but how they looking right now it is a shame😭.
Fun fact: Hiroshima's Nippon Professional Baseball team almost got the nickname "Atoms" Anyways, hopefully we can build a ballpark in Alert, Nunavut and somewhere on Mars.
4200 US-190 Deridder, LA 70634 United States Baseball field at a refinery, I actually worked here for sometime, they never played any baseball, it’s actually used as a helicopter landing area and a muster point in case of emergency.

The Area 51 field is actually where Shohei Ohtani trained after he crash landed on earth
The field is Utqiagvik is used for pretty much only slow pitch softball and the city holds some local tournaments every summer
I LOVE that the Field of Dreams field is STILL there and restored so tourists can visit it.

I know of the Alcatraz baseball field because of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.
The fields all being different is probably the most interesting part of baseball IMO. Thank god it’s football season!
can’t wait to see wander franco play at some of these when he gets traded to the prison league
Love crazy baseball fields. There is like a never ending list of them !!

I did 2 tours to Al Asad AB when I was in the USAF. I actually ran on that track you showed, and got my best 1.5 mile time in my career!
I played at Point Loma for a high school travel tourney and it is soooo pretty. It's hard not to get distracted by the ocean when shagging in the outfield before a game
Played on those fields in Guantanamo during my very long visit!!! Genuinely surprised it made the list def was not expecting to see it!!!

Great video. Definitely a good mix
Oh they sure came in more ways than one alright! As a Yankees fan, that meltdown joke made me laugh.
In 20 years, Five will update the baseball fields on the Moon and on Mars.
I can't look at Alcatraz without thinking about cod rebirth
Or Tony Hawk 4
I'm pretty sure at Alcatraz a home run was an out to counteract the tiny dimensions, and because they had a limited supply of baseballs.
I’ve played in a showcase at Point Loma Nazarene and it didn’t go well lol
Honorable Mention: Foro Sol, a Mexican baseball stadium built inside a Formula 1 track
Really?

Coogan's Bluff. Home of the New York baseball Giants. The corners were over 400 feet and dead center was just over 500.

Playing baseball on alcatraz, with that wind a routine pop-up could easily be a home run. And baseball bats to prisoners, what could go wrong?
The "Zoom Zoom" stadium is great, and it's next to the train station.
Al Asad?! I was stationed there! Never knew there was a baseball field 😂
Jokes are amazing as usual, keep going!
Fun fact, the baseball field at Alcatraz is in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and there’s a mini game where to have to baseballs with your board

Made me think randomly of the XFiles season 7 episode "The Unnatural" where a Gray alien falls in love with America's pastime. Good times, man.

Remembering that as I watched got "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads" playing in my mind as I checked the comment section.
I played Football and Futbol in GITMO in the 70s 😂😂

Was this inspired by the baseball park on the military base going around Twitter the other day?
The field on Area 51 is prolly used for the base softball team.
Did the Alcatraz team play away games? Thought not!
Hey five, I haven't had my feelings hurt in awhile. Could you make another video roasting every NFL team 2023?
