For non-left hand drivers (I'm Dutch) these videos are very helpful for preparing this type of traffic. It's helps priming my mind to different actions so driving in the UK is much more easy. Thank you!
@5:40 When driving a larger car around a sharp bend into a narrow road, taking a wide entrance to that junction will stop you a) hitting the kerb and b) running over the white line and into the path of oncoming vehicles. it also gives a better view around said bend and advanced warning of any obstructions (such as parked cars). I realise that this is something the IAM recommend, but it's an example of a situation where the application of a blanket rule could lead to conflict. I'm glad however that you mention road position when passing parked cars and cyclists, these days with everyone driving SUVs and commercial vans, it's a common occurrence to find yourself facing a near stationary obstacle after the vehicle in front has suddenly swerved around it without any indication.
Excellent video, as always! Very clear and to the point! The quality of footage and commentary is great! It is also nice to virtually “drive” on UK roads during the lockdown. Regards from Russia
Thanks for your service amid these somber times, you've been very helpful. 😊 Please could you make a video on driving on very narrow country roads with overgrown hedges or give me some advice please? Also, thanks for clearly demonstrating what NOT to do.
Hi, I have a test in two weeks which hasn't been cancelled (yet!). Do you have any advice for approaching green lights / when it is too late to stop for amber?
Good video, except the rear car with the camera does a couple bad manouvers. 4:21 learner car takes the turn correct, but following car cuts into exit lane, you might say its fine if no one is using it, but if you get into a habit of it you will always do it, just like here 4:38 on 2nd run he does it again. 6:48 Learner car mostly stays in his lane but camera car cuts the roundabout into inner lane, to say this is the lane discipline clip he ignores it. These are not major if the road is clear, but both of these happen too often everyday, people in the habit of not giving a crap about other road users is part of the cause for road rage, the amount of times I get to a junction to pull out and a car cuts the turn and nearly takes the front of my car off makes me mad, it's the same with roundabout cutters, ignorant selfish drivers, makes me want a bullbar on the front and ram the idiots out the way, they deserve it.
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool Ah ok, I guess if it was planned you would've made sure the manouver was safe, I thought he was doing it out of habit, apologies.
No worries. If anything it was the opposite problem - as when filming previous videos the camera car had used 'proper' road position, and it meant the car being filmed kept going out of shot! So we decided that whenever it was safe to, the camera car should try to get the best shot possible even if it meant cutting a few corners.
If only cars had a beam projecting onto the road to show drivers where they were aiming/positioned (the way back up/parking cameras show your position) I could ace this! Whoever invents this first will be very wealthy...🔦

Great video as always ! But car behind you cuts the corner at 0:48 😋🤭
To get the footage that we need, the camera car has to take a different road position to normal.
who else watches these after they pass?
