Gill's BGM in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, 'Psych Out', just absolutely blew me away the first time I heard it back in the day. It's an absolute drum n bass masterpiece.
Play that classic and Imagine going 100+ mph on the freeway in Ur favorite supercar in a "race against time" swerving through traffic. Goosebumps.
Yup, it was. With his epically bizarre stage with that mysterious light at the end of the tunnel.
Nah, that's nothing compared to "Nile"
Oh yeah! The Street Fighter 3 sound track got me into jungle and drum n bass music. That sound track is an urban and house/trip hop/drum n bass masterpiece!!
it's very fast pace
So Gill had the typical suburban upbringing. A soccer mom, a football dad... Son you're gonna rule the world one day.
Gills a spoiled Overprivileged brat. Thanks! More reason to destroy him!

I always thought Gill was a reference to the sumerian legend of Gilgamesh the inmortal, with the name and the whole resurection thing
@Playstation Forever that's pretty cool.
Me too. I definitely think that would have been better
@@josesosa3337 A number of street fighter characters have designs inspired by JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, especially Battle Tendency.

I hated fighting him as a boss tho. He is probably the hardest boss in the series, other than turbo Akuma
I only love sf3 as much as I do because M.Bison isn't in it, and isn't the last boss.
Gill is one of the sickest chars in gmaing history
Finally, someone speaks English!😁. I've been thinking that for years

Thank you so much for covering content on Gill. He's my favorite street fighter antagonist of all time. He's One of the main reasons I love the street fighter series. He's extremely underrated and I hardly find any good content on covering the story for Gill. Thank you my good sir👍
Gill is one of my favourite Street Fighter characters of all time. He’s so different, and I love it
He look like Seth
@@alexanderblack389 not really bro
@@InfinityBlade_Edits seth was probably going to be urien originally. i mean most of his normals are the same as urien, his focus attack is urien's tackle, his stance and walk animation are similar.. the list goes on
I will always remember Gill as being frustratingly hard because on top of being a very strong character he could also resurrect himself. After numerous frustrating loses I finally figured out the best way to beat him. If at all possible, defeat him in the opening round BEFORE his super art gauge is filled. Resurrection is a super art and he cannot use it unless his gauge is full. In the following round he will be able to resurrect unless you all out blitz him before his gauge fills(which is possible but very unlikely). Stay right on top of him once you deplete his health gauge. When he performs the resurrection he casts out a force field which pushes his opponent away and allows him time to rise into the air and complete his Resurrection. Every character has a particular move that can penetrate the protective force field and hit Gill which interrupts the Resurrection. If done properly he doesn't recover full health and it is well advised that you not hesitate to take him out.
Resurrection is his only super art in Street Fighter 3: New Generation. in the subsequent upgrades he gains other super arts. CPU Gill will at times blow his super art gauge on a super art and leave himself vulnerable to defeat if you can take him out before his gauge refills.
Gill is underrated. As a game boss he is extremely intimidating!!! When I first saw him I was like this guy is beat the hell out of me. His moves are so powerful.
I don’t think he’s strictly a villain per say, more like he has his own vision of mankind. If you beat arcade mode with Yun, he doesn’t force him to join. Also, he has honour unlike bison.
Even tho he kidnapped and experimented on a kid, Necro.
@@goead he just did a little trolling is all
Capcom should make a SF game that unifies the entire story and where you unlock fighters as you progress through the story from the beginning (SFA) till the end (SF3)
It would be a huge game with a sh1t ton of characters though, it's too ambitious to consider they would ever do something like that. but it would be magnificent if they did.
SF 50 year anniversary edition
have fun balancing
Right it's a shame that capcom never made a street fighter game like KoF 98 or 2002 who combines all the characters
I don't think it would start with alpha, more likely sf1...as poorly made as it is.
Well mortal Kombat did something like that... Sure, only mk1, 2 and 3 but it was great
Gill: Uses bra̶inwa̶shing and ma̶nipulation to control the masses.
Social Media: *Hold my beer.*
😂😂
What's with the strangely selected underlines?
Gs got it down.
Oh my goodness.
Gill is half-red half-blue.
The blue side represents Twitter and the red side represents Reddit, two of the most unholy places in humanity.
They are gonna team up
Always loved Gill as the lead Antagonist since he doesn't come off over the top and maniacal. Plus well the Street Fighter 3 games are my favorite series in the franchise.
I'm glad I have them all.
I personally was hoping Bison would stay dead and let Gill be the main villain of the series.
Bison died for good in Street Fighter V ... Hopefully. And both Street Fighter IV and V take place before III.
@@Invidente7 Indeed. With The SF3 saga it still leaves open tales for more to explore. I honestly wish that IV & V was set after 3, instead of after 2. But have to establish connections someway, somehow.
But lately the ability to tell expansive narratives definitely needs to change. V had a great idea with character story, but they are so short, and limited, it feels like a bite size snack, instead of a full course meal.
Hopefully things may change (ahem 20+ years later) that SF3 tapped into. SF has to evolve
Story yes, but game play no, players still like playing Bison. Probably they make him a clone.
His overpowered and a broken character
Bison is dead, but his spirit still technically lives on as shown in some of the character stories in SF5
I liked the way sf alpha handled bosses, each character had a boss from the lineup because they all had stories to tell
i hated when he would come back to life... and i would have less than 1/4 life left...
If you are a shoto character, I think that you can use the tatsumaki on him to make the resurrection less effective.
@Will Diesel Yeah, you are right. I don't always get it right, but my most consistent is the tatsumaki.
One thing is for sure, he's a crazy amalgamation of different concepts, abilities, and religions.
Excellent deep dive, within Gill's journey. Third Strike made me question either hero or villain. Really wish Capcom could expand more about him. Yeah there's tidbits.. but jeez we need a feast. Especially after so many years with the 3 saga.
V doesn't tap into enough, and G makes it even worse. Maybe someday, VI may answer all of our questions. 20+ years later Gill still makes us question everything
I still wake up screaming from my fights with Gill in 3S.
Capcom's artists wanted to flex real bad and show that they couldn't just do symmetrical designs. Third Strike has been out for years and Gill's sprite still amazes me to this day.
Bison often duplicated but never imitated
Bison is my favorite character
Gill: 25% red lasers. 25% blue lasers. 50% knowing.
Just in general, I freaking love these videos. I wait for them to come out. I just can't put into words how much I love these... great work💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I love theses overviews from Top Hat! 🎩
While watching this I'm remembering a manga/doujin I read online a good number of years ago about a potential story after SF3 where Gill was becoming a complete and true God only to be defeated by Dan of all people...
It was actually a really rather sad story... Gill was granting everyone's wishes which he used to become one with everything and thus "God", and Dan only wantted the world exactly like it was because he just wanted to prove himself to the world his father left him in...
I like Gill but no villain would ever top Bison imo. Bison has such a presence, great design and powerful personality. And the fact that Balrog, Vega and Sagat are his henchmen just gives him extra points. Gill is cool and all but he just doesn't have the same boss effect that Bison or even Akuma has.
Agreed. M. Bison's enemies had far more loathing of him than Gill's enemies for himself. Compare Guile or Chun Li to M. Bison vs Alex to Gill. Also M. Bison made far more enemies in general.
Bison has also been overused, gill has only been in a handful of games
@@razzberrythunder3638 that's like saying that Ryu is overused
@@dwaynetherockjohnson2024 the difference is ryu is the main character and m bison is not
@@RyomenAyeni225 im fine with Bison not being the boss in SF6 as long as he is in the game
That was pretty cool! I had no idea he had so much depth. I haven't played SF5 and I'm not very good at SF3, so there's a lot of story that I've never seen. These biopics fill a lot of those gaps, so thanks!
Finally subbed. I'm so sorry for taking so long to do it. Always liked Gill to boot
Thank you tremendously for doing these. They mean a lot to me.
We should be thankful that Gill was never included in any of the Marvel vs Capcom games, otherwise he would be an even bigger pain in the arse than Onslaught. 😰
the good thing about sf3 being the end of the timeline is that there are no later games to contradict you, so you can decided yourself what the canon ending is
Street Fighter 6 says hello!
Well Gill would destroy M. Bison
Well certainly. If Akuma killed him then for sure Gill
We were really poor and my mom just had $10 to get me something for Christmas that year. She bought me SFIII SECOND IMPACT. 20 years later she couldn't understand why that was the most important gift she ever bought me, to the point of me crying. This game introduced me to my favorite music genre (drum and bass), esotericism (through Gill's illuminati & God-Complex, & Abrahamic religion references), and little did I know would gift me with a talking point that would put me in good favor during my first adult job. I can go on and on, but Capcom really did a great job with this.
Love Gill as a villain. Waaaay more interesting and cooler than the tiring dictaror figure of Bison.

In modern Iceland, the notion of Surtr as a giant of fire lives on; Surtsey ("Surtr's island"), a volcanic island that appeared in 1963 in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, is named after Surtr.

Capcom was much more in depht in this era, and actually they were tackling another very truth concept about Secret Societies.... Another meaningfull meaning (double sentence) for the Red and Blue colors from Gill is that they represents two branches of a comonly know secret (not so secret anymore) society.
Of the thousands of trophies I've earned in a ps game, the one you get for beating 3rd strike without having to continue is probably the one i like the most. I didn't have to collect 1,000 of something or beat all the sidequests.
That one was entirely skill and no small amount of luck.
I love Gill so much he is my favorite character on Street Fighter.😎✌️
In a few years: Street Fighter: AN MCU LENGTH DOCUMENTARY! (Every character) :)
Actually, to correct you Top Hat Gaming, the whole idea of winged dieties comes from the first and oldest religion founded in ancient Sumeria, then carried in Akad, and continued in Babylon. Which supersedes the Abrahamic religions. That of the collective Anunnaki, which is where the word Angel comes from (They whom from the heavens came). All of the Annunaki Gods have Wings, from four to eight depending.
How about a bonus episode explaining Q....yeahhhhhhhhh.👊😎
I said it before, I'll say it again. You're a great content creator and I watch everything you put out.
Makes sense as final boss you fight M.Bison (a powerful dictator) Then Akuma (A man becoming a Demon) and Finally Gill ( A God/fallen angel)
Bruh… ideologically he is not a villain. He is even qualified as a saviour by ideology alone‼️‼️‼️💯💯❤️
I disagree with savior more like anti Christ. He pretends to be the saviour but he would kill anyone that gets in his way. He calls it the greater good and according to his plan but doing evil for the greater good according to himself is still evil ie taking a life and justify it as his plan for saving humanity.
@Filthy DizBiz how can he be an anti christ if he naturally got his powers? Plus he strives for harmony and progress. Idk .

Amazing content. I have no idea how you haven’t hit 100K subs yet. But it is coming soon.
Love this content man! Did you ever think about expanding into the SNK universe after doing Capcom?
I love Gil. He has a Jojo aesthetic to him. Reminds me of Kars a bit appearance wise but red and blue.
Like most people there hoping to continue after the 3rd strike story but after seeing rose ending in sf5 looks like capcom about to pull a mk9 raiden going back to alpha
i believe she means she'll meet up with Ingrid who she fought in Zero/Alpha 3 to melt the iceberg (since, y'know, she's a sun godess)
"back to zero" yeah that stuck with me as well. I really wish the narrative could go past the SF3 saga. Sigh..
@@chainsawbussyfuck not Ingrid again.. her design bugged me. Let her have a formidable form. I just couldn't take her seriously. Powerful? Maybe we never really had time to explore her other abilities (or true form)
Capcom All Stars (the original concept) she was also a part of. Sadly the game was canned, so.. yeah she was leftover in CFJ etc..

@@MrRyuken555 Who?
The Udon comics do say that Gill basically sent his brother flying into the sea by a powerful attack and Ryu defeated Gill the same way he did with Bison but Kolin has prepared to resurrect Gill with a willing sacrifice and DNA samples of Gill so that he may return someday.
16:12 "still not know a great deal about.." Dude that's you!
I would love to see you cover the story of Ingrid from SF. She is a very enigmatic character in the franchise.
Crazy how the Udon comics gave us the proper ending to Street Fighter and ended now only Gill's story but also Ryu's.
All I can say is he's more interesting than I originally thought
Tbh I honestly never payed attention to the Street Fighter Storyline. All I knew was that Alpha was a prequel to SF 2 and I thought that everything else from 3-5 was in chronological order
Meanwhile on Snk world the bosses are more scarier and over powered
Honestly, the way Gill is presented lore wise...he'd rank up there with the strongest in KoF...Akuma for sure though. Parting oceans and splitting mountains is no small feat in the average fighting games.
Name three bosses more powerful then I'll believe you
@@youngrizziepoppin9225 Outside of Orochi, I can't think of any SNK boss that's just blatantly more powerful than Gill since they can all be defeated by the regular cast members.

G is secretly Top Hat Gaming Man :-P
Remember Gill ending in Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact. It predicted the story of Street Fighter V! And no one talks about it!
Bison has one thing that Gill doesn't have: the memes!
Gill, the fabled diapered one...when Gill's not fighting, he's working on the Jaguar he inherited. You know, because Jaguar's are luxurious rolling piles? The one Dudley can't give back because it won't start?
RESURRECTION!!!
it's actually stated in an interview i read about 3rd strike gill's the reason s.i.n was made to bring m. bison back in 4(with the name it,abel and seth have/how shadaloo's shown to fall out of order quickly without bison kinda obvious in hindsight.lol) with him finding out after it's events(the black moons are even mentioned.),am convinced g is the previous president of the secret society
and like him and kolin being a thing in the comics/teaming up with his counterpart jedah(whose story i love way more.) in the crossover with darkstalkers along with the awesome huge fight he has with every street fighter character in unlimited's final battle.(seriously hope that's added to street fighter 6 along with world tour from alpha 3/story-wise happening after 3 to clear it up.:3)
The issue with Gill and most of the cast of Street Fighter 3 is they don't gel with the aesthetics of the rest of the street fighter series. They look like a completely different series. (Which it started as.) They are like animated characters in space jam standing next real life actors in terms of contrast of looks. They are just so wacky compared to the rest of the games. Most of them never fit, as like when you're a kid and dump out your toy box and play with characters from another toyline..that's what felt like happened here. The few like Elena, Dudley, Alex, and the Lee brothers migrated to other games since they had closer look to other games and felt like they could fit in without being jarring. The other titles always felt like they could a unified project/universe.
This is a major factor why SF 3 wasn't seen as a true Street fighter game by many upon release and was largely ignored. I feel like Capcom agreed on some level, as they went backwards in the timeline to avoid dealing with it, and trying bridge the games to get people to warm up to the other characters by sprinkling them in other titles over time. SF 6 will actually take places after 3, but I doubt it will have many of the SF 3 cast appear in it based on the current leaks. Gill is definitely an oddity that probably needs more explanation as hes too weird even for the SF universe..especially at the time of his first appearance. (The later games had a few zanier characters like Haken and El Furte, but the newer art style made them feel more like in with the game. The bulk of the cast tend kept a more serious tone.)
nah, remember Street Fighter Alpha (Zero), Capcom doesn't follow a straight line with the timeline of Street Fighter
@@abrahamlupis9354 That doesn't change they basically treated Street fighter 3 as a no go zone for almost 30 years. Alpha series basically just put a bonus chapter between going forward as Capcom really didn't seem to go beyond the Street fighter 2 point in time in a hurry.
SF 4 and 5 both still took place before 3. They have been very restrictive of going past this point, which this same company that crapped out 11 Megaman games and 8 MMX games, so not as if they are afraid create sequels or move forward on a timeline. At some point you have admit SF 3 was a black mark they weren't eager to address again.
Obviously SF 3 has been recontextualized in gaming culture by it's characters being in other games since(the ones people actually liked.) and stuff like the EVO scene pushing SF 3 . People who didn't like it still didn't, but it picked up new fans altogether instead is likely the change of heart for it. So I can see capcom finnally moving forward and pushing the timeline forward with less hesitation from this point onward. Especially since SF 6 has ripped the bandaid and just done it at long last. I will be geniunely surprised if they revert to an earlier point in the timeline in near future.(Like new SF Alpha/sidestory taking place between SF 4 and 5) It likely will just be fullsteam ahead there's a huge F up.(Like SF 3 was at it's release.)
Crazy this video came out yesterday well I was busy beating 3rd strike for the first time
Bison will always be the better antagonist in the street fighter series gill is weak to me.
You mean weak as in move sets or story arcs?
@@KenMasters. Neither I'm just a Bison fan more than fish cheeks here.

Love you and your wifes channel!
I was playing this game today on the dreamcast emulator, this character is over powered and totally broken .
"The mark of his dignity shall scar thy DNA."
Funny gill talks about harmony when his personality is contrast as well as his color scheme
Gill IS the most misunderstood ever in the SF series 💯
Besides his references to Christianity and Greek mythology, I'm still convinced that the main inspiration for Gill's design was the Schizoid Man: a very obscure Spiderman villain from 1979. Seriously, look at him.
And this was many years before Yuuda from Fist Of The North Star, and Kars from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure...
It's not though. Gill wasn't originally meant to be blue and red. They changed him to be that way to showcase the power of the CPS3, capable of properly rendering different sprites on each side of the screen, allowing for characters to have a proper left and right side.
Top Hat Gaming Man. Are you referring to Sutr, the Norse Fire Giant in Norse Mythology please?
In modern Iceland, the notion of Surtr as a giant of fire lives on; Surtsey ("Surtr's island"), a volcanic island that appeared in 1963 in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, is named after Surtr.
I know that saying there's a Jojo Bizarre adventure reference is a meme by now but I always thought that Gil and Urien had been inspired by the Pilar men characters from part 2, mostly Karz in the case of Gill because he's all about becoming the supreme being and his impressive size and physique, long curly hair and very minimal clothing XD
I know the series has never focused on story, but I'm really curious about what happens after Street Fighter 3...
Knowing capcom they'll probably make sf6 another prequel. Im convinced they don't know how to advance the sf storyline which is why each game is never in chronological order
