Bruh, Balrog is 5.10 feet tall, 1.79 meters, who do you make him sound like Andre the giant? The characters were scaled as if they were Japanese. Otherwise guile would be much taller than ryu.
Balrog's relationship with Ed actually provided some pleasantly surprising character development for him. I hope that the two of them reconcile in future games.
Balrog after getting beat by Ed: “an unfamiliar feeling; pride in someone else…” The best thing to happen to Balrog character wise. It allows us too see more of him than just his care for money
I don't like how they portray Balrog currently like he killed a Elephant with a single punch that's his biggest feat and now he losing fights to R. Mika? Like Bison bodyguards suppose to be strong.
While losing to R. Mika isn't so bad (despite Balrog being more experienced), failing to knock her out after punching her in the face at full force is.
Balrog used to be a little underrated but man he does so much freaking damage and dizzys so fast it's outrageous. You can play keep away just better be pretty good at it.
This was so well presented! SF will forever be my favourite lore when it comes to video games. I had no idea the boy he saved in SFIV turned out to be Ed and they had such a strong relationship, really makes me appreciate him a lot more. Now it makes me wonder about Falke, I think she’d be an interesting character to have a documentary on.
I'm glad you included the moment in Ed's story where he gets emotional over Ed leaving him. That's his best moment because it adds a layer to a character that came off as pretty shallow even if he has a charm to his character. Great video!
The legend, the mad buffalo, and wild card. It's amazing how he has been part of the legacy since the beginning. Plus still going, teaching the next generation. After all, not such a bad guy 😎
I still own my copy of Super Street Fighter 2 : The New Challengers. That game always cracked me up because the announcer always butchered Balrog's name calling him Barlog, lol!
Now that I've caught up to Top Hat videos, I want to ask: Could you do character documentary videos on characters from other fighting game franchises? Like Tekken or the SNK games.
Brawl brothers and The Peacekeepers both got flawed ports. In BB they had the genius idea of adding a maze to a later level and the Peacekeepers didn't even had proper music!
There’s a boxer character in the original 1987 street fighter game called Mike who looks a lot like a younger version of M. Bison (Balrog). Legend has it that when asked if they’re the same character capcom representatives said they are without saying it outright for obvious reasons. And it makes sense that the M in M. Bison could and in my opinion does stand for mike. At least that’s what I believe the original intention was before capcom started to worry about getting sued by mike Tyson when they wanted to release street fighter II outside Japan
Both Nishitani & Yasuda have stated that they consider Mike from the first Street Fighter and Mike Bison to be the same character. However Capcom says otherwise. So it's the creators of the game versus the company that decides what's official. You decide people I go with the creators. PS: You should do a video on the "Fire Kick" Ryu's lost move in the first Street Fighter game. The move is very hard to pull off but is still in the prototype of the game.
The only thing about Vega(M. Bison) is that when he gives the slashes his throat sign in his game-winning pose the front part of his chest area looks like a bison face
Dudley: gutter trash Man i still remember as a kid when i got street fighter 4 arcade edition and i played Dudley arcade mode his rival scene with balrog is still great 🤣
While that's true, I find it funny that this changes for the western region actually make sense: Vega is a spanish name, Balrog is name of a mithological beast and fits the huge boxer, and Bison is a kinda more fitting name for a last boss, plus the M. that we don't actually know what stands for is fitting with the misterious nature of the Shadaloo leader.
Its possibly Alpha Anthologies on the PS2 . I really loved the Alpha's on there as well as hidden Dramatic Survival mode where you and a friend would be tasked with beating all the characters on the game in 1 play through ending with M.Bison, E.Ryu and then S.Akuma on the Alpha 3 on that game. Dram modes on Alpha 2 and Alpha 1 that were never playable before or after were included also as well as the most fluid Alpha experience I personally in 33 years ever played as well as tough AI.
8:10 notice how all the buttons on the comp are (have to be) massive? This is because this guy types with his gloves on! Just like how the other boxer guy in SF3 drives and does all his chores with his gloves on as well... Also, at 9:58 is that freaking Axl-Low from Guilty Gear? lol
I remember reading a gaming magazine in the 90s about Street Fighter to learn Balrogs moves, and there was a typo I found. For his head-butt, they made a mistake and it said butt-head.
in comparison to the heavyweight boxers tyson was competing against like Lennox Lewis (6'5''), Frank Bruno (6'3'') and Holyfield (6' 2''). Even Ali was 6' 3''
I've been playing Street fighter 2 since Champion edition that's when I 1st saw Balrog a lil while after I came across Street Fighter 1 now I always thought Balrog was the 1st boxer of the franchise but then I saw Mike.So the question is are they the same character?
Lmao, that's crazy, look at the views these get in comparison to the metal sonic one... at first glance at least. I freckin loved the metal sonic deep dive, I thought it was a nice a changeup that I would like to see more of.
still find it badass zangief/r. mika tanked the guys punches and along with dudley(who i like way more.:3) & alex have kicked the ass of a boxer who killed an elephant with a single punch, like his alpha 3 appearance referencing him appearing with m. bison in the animated movies final battle(and even birdie calling him an idiot in his ending.lol) and how despite probably being one of the dumber characters in street fighter considering shadaloo nearly fell under him, he was rather intelligent in 2v(even if we never saw him box outside the intro.) and showed he has care towards ed in 5.

Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. Can you please do a Street Fighter character documentary video on Dhalsim?
Can you do a vid on Fei Long? :)
Do one about the canceled SF anime series on the Sci Fi channel.
I hope so too. I liked their relationship in the game, wonderful character growth.
SAME
Balrog after getting beat by Ed: “an unfamiliar feeling; pride in someone else…”
The best thing to happen to Balrog character wise. It allows us too see more of him than just his care for money
Unfortunately, it's overshadowed by all of this UNYIELDING RAGE!!!
8:11 he can type with boxing glove, That a super power
I've underrated Balrog over the years, since I hardly use him. He's pretty solid and a good balrog player can kick ass.
Yep
I love how he's able to code his SQL statements while using 16 oz gloves.
College Humor's street fighter the later years
Balrog: i punch really hard
Dhalsim: do u...kick?
Balrog: wats a kick?
Classic! >_
I don't like how they portray Balrog currently like he killed a Elephant with a single punch that's his biggest feat and now he losing fights to R. Mika? Like Bison bodyguards suppose to be strong.
FACTS
While losing to R. Mika isn't so bad (despite Balrog being more experienced), failing to knock her out after punching her in the face at full force is.
He didn't really loose to her.
Wasn't really full force Ryan. He pretty says so right after that.
mike tyson was so strong, he even beat the world of videogames.
Well there was Mike Tyson's Punch-out as well.
Couldn't beat little mac
Balrog used to be a little underrated but man he does so much freaking damage and dizzys so fast it's outrageous. You can play keep away just better be pretty good at it.
To anyone who hasn't seen Balrog: Behind the Glory I cannot recommend it enough.
It's equal parts hilarious and heartfelt.
The best part about it is how it explains the name switch and how Bison was cool with it
Just watched it, thank you that was awesome

just VERY greedy.
@@VitunVatiVille true, true
I'm almost 40 and I was ecstatic when I saw Balrog and had the best combos lol
Would love to hear the mad story of Hugo Andore next!!!!
You mean Andre the Giant?
Early access Top Hat
Yes please!
Keep up the good work fella and stay safe.
I would love to see more interactions between Balrog and Ed in a future SF game. Same with him and Dudley (the British boxer introduced in SF3).
There is a boxer in Street Fighter 1 named Mike that it widely considered to be Balrog.
It was balrog. They were gonna name him m.bison which would be Mike bison but they got copyrighted so balrog was called balrog
Love these in-depth analysis vids on characters!
I'm glad you classified balrogs style as a heavyweight-boxers style and not a general boxing style. Gives more respect to the sport
The cartoon having Balrog as a tech/scientist wasn’t weird enough,he would still be wearing his boxing gloves while typing lol
I still own my copy of Super Street Fighter 2 : The New Challengers. That game always cracked me up because the announcer always butchered Balrog's name calling him Barlog, lol!
Good job Big Daddy Top Hat, love the street fighter bios. I was wondering if you can T Hawk, or Dee Jay. It's up to you but I'm leaning on T. Hawk.
Both deserve a video. It’s a shame that they don’t show up very often in Street Fighter games.
My favourite theme song to this day , great job fella
Your best street fighter video yet!
My man top hat delivering a 1, 2 punch with the great content!
Now that I've caught up to Top Hat videos, I want to ask: Could you do character documentary videos on characters from other fighting game franchises? Like Tekken or the SNK games.
you should do videos on the Rushing Beat series. Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers, and The Peacekeepers
Brawl brothers and The Peacekeepers both got flawed ports. In BB they had the genius idea of adding a maze to a later level and the Peacekeepers didn't even had proper music!
Great vid, had no idea about Ed 👍
"This foe is beyond any of you." - Gandalf
Probably the best video game boxer ❤ thanks for this video Top Hat Gaming Man
*I never knew ballrog had a adopted son but his son Ed rarely appeared maybe he will be a playable character in the future Street Fighter franchise*
I should be surprised Mario bros 2 and doki doki panic got mentioned but it's the most famous game fact at this point lol
Balrog's real name is Mike Bison, lol! All the way back from his 87 appearance in Street Fighter as Mike!
I thought they were different characters.
The change it 9n SF5 he was billed as Mike Balrog. When you play the Street Fighter 1 story mode
@Lee John ok I know the history but glad you cleared it up
Thank you for this. Your work is very much appreciated.
☺️

I bought like 6 of his GI Joe because my little brother kept chewing the gloves up
im not boxer but balrog is my favorite character in street fighter
Both Nishitani & Yasuda have stated that they consider Mike from the first Street Fighter and Mike Bison to be the same character. However Capcom says otherwise. So it's the creators of the game versus the company that decides what's official. You decide people I go with the creators.

Balrog is a very cool Dad
11:49 OMG can someone please tell me the title of that uber cool background music, please.
8:10 I think, from all his abilities and strengths, the most impressive is his ability to type on a keyboard wearing his boxing gloves 💯👌🏼
In SF4 if u choose the small airfield stage,u see balrog in the aiplane,if u play as Balrog its Vega,if the match is Balrog vs Vega u see Bison
Great vid as usual Papi Sombrero de Copa.
I never comment but I love your work on the street Carritor
Sorry my baby hit the send by mistake I just love your work on your channel keep it up 👍
Balrog in sfv fights in the peekaboo stance which is Mike Tyson's style
Should have kept his name. They didn't want to pay iron mike tho.
Probably would have worked out well in the end. Imagine Iron Mike playing Balrog in the movie alongside Van Damme and Kylie Minogue!
Dudley: gutter trash
Man i still remember as a kid when i got street fighter 4 arcade edition and i played Dudley arcade mode his rival scene with balrog is still great 🤣
Dudley the gentleman boxer. Balrog give me my money or I'll bash your face in lol. Both great characters but I like dudley better. What say you?
@@lukelaser5397 Dudley is definitely the best out of the two.
But how does Balrog type with boxing gloves on??
E. honda would be a great next video
Getting close to 100k, RUclips is getting the silver plaque ready as we speak.
Love these documentaries
Balrog, the REAL M. Bison (Mike Bison).

@@sergiosantos6285 M. Bison is a mexican?
I mean he was played by Raul Julia for the movie.
@@kenterminateddq5311
Raul Julia is not Mexican, he's Puerto Rican.
I love Ken .. and other characters from Street Fighter but Balrog is ma boi .. 🙌🏻🔥
How do you get alpha 2 to look so smooth like that? Is that fc2 or anniv?
Its possibly Alpha Anthologies on the PS2 . Might be a very short video. But I think it’ll be awesome to see a video about gouken and goutestu

Nice vid! He was a pretty good character.
E. Honda next please and why his picture could not appear on some adverts in Japan

Might you consider a video on Guy?
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. How about you do a Street Fighter character documentary video on Chun-Li, the first female fighter in the franchise?
Balrog & Dudley hav rival cutscenes in super street fighter 4 where Balrog calls him out by sayin "Ur supposed to be the british champ?!"
I love this rivalry. They should expand on it!
Fei-Long Fei-Long! Do his bio next!

Whoooobig daddy top hat!
How long is that portrait of Billy Mitchell going to be there?
I know that he's only been in one game, but I would love as in-depth of a look that you could make for G from Street Fighter V.
depends if you believe he is also Q in Third Strike

Ok. Can we have a peek at Poison, Mike (the Street Fighter 1 boxer), Sodam, Karin Kanzuki, Geki, and maybe someone else.
Anyone know y Balrog's eyes are messed up in the street fighter 2 anime movie?
Can you do Geese Howard from Fatal Fury next?
How cool would it be if they gave Mike Tyson a chance to play Balrog in the Street Fighter Chun li movie !😄
Wasn’t Balrog in the first Street Fighter arcade game as Mike???
Why does SF Alpha look so crisp and remade here?
I wanna see one of T Hawk i find these very interesting
