Totally agree that Billy's vocals haven't declined at all, he's definitely still got the chops. The epic solos throughout this album are what make it truly great.
this is testaments reign in blood as far as modern testament goes. its the best of the 3 theyve put out since there return. and i honestly think this is my personal favorite as far as thrash metal albums that were released this year. very happy with this release. ill give it a A- as far as rating quality. these guys seem to get better with each disc and i honestly cannot wait for a tour in my area in support of this amazing release
Reign In Blood is overrated in my opinion. As South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss are my two favorites from Slayer. All that aside, The New Order is still my favorite album from Testament. I just recently got the new album Gong to listen to it here soon, and see how good it is. Since Alex's return, they have put out album after great album. So I am sure Brotherhood Of The Snake will not be a downer by any means.
atranfanatic new testament not very good, too tecnical, i am pretty sure i m not buy that album, already the gathering was some disappointment album, low was hardworker in my cd player in then it come out
James Hetfield Practice What You Preach is good, but to me it is more a clean mainstream sound. It is a good cruiser when driving. But The New Order has a lot of melodicy and with their thrash elements. Musical Death A Dirge is a beautifully done track. With excellent guitar work and full of emotion. And of course Disciples Of The Watch is a brutal thrasher.
Good review Brother! Still disappointed that you never gave the new Flotsam and Jetsam it's deserved attention! Still is in the running for Album Of The Year!
matt11708 i dont like this new, i like low, testament do same mistake like many other band, they go too tecnical, this is crap.. i doubt i buy this album, already the gathering was some disappointment, chuck billy voice is terrible
Wessley Jauron they always sucked in my opinion, they had a few songs I liked but never full albums, Master of Puppets being the closest for me but even then I'm not that impressed by their discography in comparison to the other thrash bands that could be in the high esteem that they are.
I LOVE Testament! Great review. I look forward to buying tomorrow!!! Still, It's hard for anything new to beat their first 3 albums, imo. But I am quite excited to hear this album!!
@@darekogrodnik5650 Slayer's members have got nothing on the guys in Testament when it comes to writing music.. It's obvious.. And yes Slayer sucks when it comes to melodic stuff.. Hell they can't even right a proper ballad.. Overrated as fuck.. Even Anthrax are alot better lol
@@darekogrodnik5650 w Well actually I'm not saying that they completely suck.. They have a couple of decent tracks.. I'm saying they're over-rated.. Their music is so repetitive and mostly just not interesting.. Testament are MUCH better... Even their old albums are musically much better than anything slayer ever released.. They should be in the big 4 instead of Slayer.. And trust me I'm being objective here cuz I don't hate Slayer.. If anything, I hate Metallica but I still don't think that they're over-rated
Great review, as always. Out of their 3 most recent releases, I prefer the older 2 over BOTS. Maybe I need my ears syringing or something, but I find the guitar sound on BOTS to be a bit too 'digital sounding', as if the guitar sound has been tightened/condensed/'controlled' (sorry, difficult to describe!) that it somehow looses some of its natural 'analogue sound', and consequently sounds a bit too harsh/grating.
my order of preference from best to worst: the ritual, Practice What You Preach, demonic, low, Souls of Black, Legacy, formation of damnation, Gathering, Brotherhood of the snake, dark roots of Earth, the New Order
The New Order is a seminal thrash record, an absolute genre classic. You're welcome to make whatever list you want, but you may want to give that one another chance bro.
Great album. Good production. Can't see the comparison with Reign in Blood though. Alex moves tge band into a different level and Chuck is one of the best singers in thrash. Seems his voice is aging very well. I think that Born in a rut and its resemblance with Moorhead is intentional and not casual. Anyway I think this is a great album, not as good as Dark Roots but definitely more consistent than Dystopia, Repentless and For all kings, just to mention some old folks...
I don't mean to bug you but I hope you are currently listening to the new Avenged Sevenfold album, and I - as well as the rest of us Avenged Sevenfold and CKN fans - expect an album review tomorrow or Saturday.
My choice is Death Angel, I didn't even know about Death Angel until this year. I think I might have expected too much out of Brotherhood of the Snake seeing as TestAmenT are my favorite band. PS sorry i just realized you were asking CKN
Testaments record is great, but Death Angel nailed it this year. The Evil Divide is gonna be a record to look back to as a classic in 20 years for sure.
Ok guys, don't rip into me for saying this... but I feel as if some songs off Reign in Blood are par for course as well. Piece by Piece, Altar of Sacrifice, and epidemic just don't do it for me as well as the other songs. It's still an AMAZING album, but some songs are just not as good as the others. It's the same thing with this album, I think we'd hold this album in VERY high regard if it came out in 1986.
Totally agree that Billy's vocals haven't declined at all, he's definitely still got the chops. The epic solos throughout this album are what make it truly great.
That front cover looks like a 1990s PC game box.
This album is epic. They never really put out bad music. When I heard this album I forgot all about megadeth dystopia
Brotherhood is my favourite album of 2016. What a fucking masterpiece. This album is what metal is all about and I fucking love it
CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR THE TOUR!!!
testament might be the best live performing band at this time
Close, but I would say killswitch has that title, they crush live
nah
Thr4sh4lot I absolutely agree. They are pure energy and great musicians. I like Megadeth and Testament live over all bands.
Agreed. saw them live with Amon Amarth and Grand Magus on the 1st and they were absolutely insane! Loved them.

atranfanatic i agree with reign in blood but little disagree only testament, my favorite is practice what you preach, the new order is good too
atranfanatic new testament not very good, too tecnical, i am pretty sure i m not buy that album, already the gathering was some disappointment album, low was hardworker in my cd player in then it come out
Agree with _Reign in Blood_. "Hey guys, let's play fast and not even make an effort in songwriting at all." -Slayer after _Hell Awaits_.
James Hetfield
Practice What You Preach is good, but to me it is more a clean mainstream sound. It is a good cruiser when driving. But The New Order has a lot of melodicy and with their thrash elements. Alexander Adrian Vargas
But South Of Heaven is when they started having structure. And Seasons had some great tracks. To each his own man.
Good review Brother! Still disappointed that you never gave the new Flotsam and Jetsam it's deserved attention! Still is in the running for Album Of The Year!
I love your videos. You are now my go to guy for reviews. \m/
Awesome review as usual. Definitly picking this up.
my brother heard the new testament it was very good.

the said thing is that both eric and skolnick just destroy kirk hammet.
arjan snijder ikr. I never noticed until I really got listening to testament. Skolnick is a beast on guitar.
skolnick is insane, he is just like micheal shenker. sort of a legend, when alex does a solo then i go...oww damn that's a hot solo.
You do know that Peterson married Hammett's ex wife?
Josh Forrest, oh wow.
and even Hammett destroys Kerry King, yet Slayer is every metalhead's favorite band
cmoon CKN! A7X's The Stage album needs reviewing. Make it happen!
I LOVE Testament! Great review. I look forward to buying tomorrow!!! Still, It's hard for anything new to beat their first 3 albums, imo. But I am quite excited to hear this album!!
Brotherhood of the Snake > Dystopia > Hardwired
love your naglfar longsleeve !! and also, testament is such a fucking awesome band and they only keep getting better !!
The one Iv'e been waiting for dude!
Great review!
Yeah man... great supergroup comeback!!
Nice Naglfar t-shirt dude
Testament >>>> Slayer
Finally not Metallica
Not really... because testament play happy riffs with melodic vocals and not everyone likes this style better than slayer style

Bro I'm just commenting because of your awesome shirt. Naglfar are totally underrated. Almost as good as Dissection.
I just heard the full album version that was posted by LegionMetalRock. They forgot to include Neptune's Spear, but still this album is a masterpiece!
this album is by far Alex's best lead work
@coverkillernation I need to know what's playing in the background from 5:34 - 6:00 - particularly what artist, but any info is appreciated. Thanks!
Testament has not disappointed since 1999. This is a fantastic work, their best since "Low"
Marcin Lewandowski low is lastest best, this is by far away from low, alot, old testament is best, this is crap, if ask me
I have this album coming today CKN. Hope it lives up. it's been promoted like shit by Nuclear Blast !!
couldn't focus on nothing but the awesome Naglfar shirt ;)
It's good but Dark Roots Of Earth dominates it. Cold Embrace and Throne of Thorns are in my top 10 Testament songs.
Testament is one of the greatest bands ever! Souls Of Black rules!

Metal

The New Order is not just an amazing album but Testament's best.
Your list is like my list...........except upside down XD

CKN, who had the better thrash album in 2016, Testament or Death Angel?

How can you say this is better than Dark Roots of Earth, but give it a lower score?
There are some really good tracks but noticeable filler too (black jack, cannabusiness)
I think Black Jack and Cannabusiness feel misplaced, overall I do like the record.
hey Jason donavans new album rocks..
Ok guys, don't rip into me for saying this... but I feel as if some songs off Reign in Blood are par for course as well. Testament became obsolete in 2007 when Enter the Grave came out.
