Hi ya Jason. Your spatial thinking and the ability to transpose that into a three dimensional version always amazes me. The retrospective of your accomplishments during 2021 really is quite telling. So much was done by one man. I very much look forward to your updates throughout the coming year. I know you do not suffer fools very easily. But, please do not let them bother you. When this masterpiece is finished, it will be second to none. Keep up the outstanding work. Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends. Take care. See ya next time.
As always Norman, thanks for watching. Really glad you enjoy the updates etc. They don't bother me, but sometimes I need to roll my eyes and say something 😁. Plenty more coming and next year should be an exciting one, despite what is happening in the world outside. Merry Xmas and have a safe break..regards
As ever nice work Jason. It was nice to see the years progress in a few minutes of update and then proceed to what you are currently working on. In my opinion you have made a lot of progress this year, especially for working alone and under the conditions of having limited supplies during this ongoing pandemic. You remain "king" of the finishing work, be it fascia, storage boxes or electrical cabinets and your track work isn't far behind. I'll look forward to your next video, no matter the length. Best Cheers!
Hi 👋🏻 Jason. Fantastic update on your layout 👍🏻 I’m so glad your back on RUclips as most model railway layouts are either British or American outline so yours makes something complicated different being Australian 😀 Even Australian Greggs of Birds Wood is American 🇺🇸 lol 😆 But excellent all the same. The addition of the loop will make for some extra running verity 😀 You’re absolutely right make it work first then start the building and scenery work 😂 It’s your layout and we’re all here to enjoy it 👍🏻 Have a lovely Christmas & New Year. All the best Stevie 😎🏴
Wow, the fascia is above and beyond anything I've seen. And the video this one is just beautiful, especially the collage of updates set to that great music. I really enjoyed this one Jason. Beautiful stuff.
Hi Jason, another great update! Thanks for the tour to show where you are up to. Appreciate you including the faults or changes. We can all learn from them. Looking at what you have achieved in the past year you should be very proud of the high level of execution detail. Enjoy your Christmas and you stay safe too. 👍
It was good, and impressive, to see just how much you have achieved this year Jason. It is a substantial layout and you are absolutely right to wait starting on the scenic stuff until you are sure the infrastructure is right. There is nothing worse than carefully crafting an area only to have to dig it all up again to make track or baseboard changes. Hope you get to have good Christmas and look forward to the videos next year. Stephen
Great update. The look of your fascia and backdrops is so clean. Yes it is a long time in the build before you get to scenery building but frankly you need to be sure the layout operates well before you do the scenery, otherwise you'll have to tear down the scenics to fix issues. I'd love to pop in and help you test drive the layout but realistically travelling half way round the globe is hard to justify!
Hi Lee, thanks for the feedback and totally agree. Yeah, that would be a long way to travel and would be too much pressure on me - coming all that way and realising it was a waste of time ( and money) 😂🤣..regards
I am really enjoying the journey. And always look forward to the video updates, I for one will not unsubscribe. Merry Christmas and A Happy Blessed New Year.
Hi Jason, just admiring your exquisite bench work, especially the viaduct, the road bed construction and underside lighting for your track work. Your choice of colors for your fascia and backdrop scenery look amazing. They blend together well. Your choice to use finished pine really gives your layout a very nice classy, smooth touch. You have a very nice professional touch for wiring up your entire layout, which makes it look that much more amazing. A very nice job well done.
Hi Rail Fan, appreciate your feedback. The wiring I have taken extra precautions, as fault finding a noodle failure in spaghetti is no fun and who has time for that 😁
Regarding the leds on your control panel, and the use of red and green leds... remember that the most common colour blindness amount men is red/green color blindness. On our control panels at the club I'm in, we don't rely on colour alone, but have the active led on the leg of the turnout that is enabled. (if that makes sense).
Jason, wow your making a lot of progress for one guy, looks awesome.Your track changes will be perfect. I am looking forward to the scenic part, but totally agree with the infrastructure being all set prior to doing that. That for sharing, stay safe. Merry Christmas to your family and you. Happy New year. Ken
Nice update Jason. No need to apologies for the length of the video mate the longer the better it means you have more to show. The layout is really coming together now. I agree get the infrastructure track and electrics down and working first before doing scenery. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Take care. - Nicholas.
I do the same thing, when I find a problem with the track, but I stick in a red push pin so I will get to it at some point. Nice update sir.. Thanks for the videos this year. happy holidays my friend. I will be doing my Christmas day live stream again this year and hope you can stop in and hang out. Dec 25 at 4 pm eastern
Thanks Sparky..yeah it works well to remind us to come back and correct those issues. I'll have to see what time that goes down over here. I do miss alot over here Downunder, as I'm usually at work during those hours..regards
Hi Jason, you have made a great deal of progress this year and I have to say, you’re carpentry is first class and so wish I could be that neat and precise.. Great plans ahead and following with great interest. Merry Christmas to you and yours from ole Blighty….regards, Chris
Hi Jason - Brilliant video as always. Thoroughly enjoyed the thought process behind it and what you have to do mate. I see what you meant by the viaduct now, looks bloody fantastic I have to say. Looking forwards to next year and watching your massive layout progress. Have a Merry Xmas and Happy New year. Regards Chris
Thanks Chris, yeah was hoping behind the viaduct would now make sense seeing it put together..sometimes hard to articulate thoughts. Merry Xmas to you and family as well..cheers
Hi Jason, I agree with you 100% regarding the scenery. There is nothing worse than seeing trains constantly stopping/derailing etc because of shit track work. A lot of people in the hobby are just "slap happy", especially in some clubs. Do what works for you and don't worry about anyone else. Looking forward to seeing more updates in the new year. Merry Xmas to you
Couldn't agree more as I've seen some horror scenes where a lot of hours of great work being ripped up caused they rushed into scenery too soon. Merry Xmas..cheers
Hi Jason. Great update!! I always get great ideas from your videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family and enjoy the day. Ray L from southern Maine U.S.A.
Hey Ray, thanks for watching and always great to hear you get something from these videos. Merry Xmas to you and family as well from the land downunder..cheers
Great progress this year. Everything looks really good. I love hearing rain on a tin roof. Where the one rail is higher than the other I'd say just file the high one down to match the lower one if you're not having issues with it. Good video. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Stay well. -Wil 👍
Hi Jason, if you want a hand with the operations let me know and I’ll pop down! Brilliant update mate and a very productive year, it’s all coming together nicely. Don’t rush the scenery, I haven’t, although very tempted! Get everything running as you want it then we’ll go from there. I won’t be unsubscribing, well, unless you’re crap at scenery, lol! Only joking mate, now I hope my scenery will be ok too, kiss of death! Have a lovely Christmas Jason with your family let’s hope next year is a bit better, cheers from all of us here at Exehaven, John
Hi John, that for the comments! No pressure with the scenery then 🤣😂. But seriously, need to get everything right prior to that, not a good feeling when something major goes wrong cause you rushed in. Merry Xmas to you too..regards
Hi Jason , looks well engineered mate , totally agree get everything out of the way before scenery mate , ive made the same mistakes in the past , im very impressed with al the facials, Can see your scenery already 😊😊😊😊😊Merry Christmas to you and your familly, and a Training good year 💥💥💥
thank you for the great detailed video right must other section fix the work right before start look at the next lot project on the layout do not underdo your love workshop if wrong or not right with you from Brocklesby NSW
Good video. No, it was not too long. The too long videos on RUclips are the ones that go an hour or two. Great tip on using the blue painters tape to mark your problem areas. Do you then list those issues on a clipboard for reference or just use the layout itself as the clipboard? Since you are now at the point of designing your control panels I thought you might be interested in this video; ruclips.net/video/xMAI7FN0S5o/видео.html It is the DCC Concepts ESP system for creating wireless control panels. If I remember correctly you are using the Cobalt switch motors. The ESP system is designed to work with any DCC Command Station. I am going to use it with old green Tortoise switch machines and a Digitrax Command system.
Appreciate the feedback. I usually use the layout as a clipboard for issues to come back too. But do use a list on paper for standard items to start/complete. Will check that out, they do have some great stuff, but not always available over here easily. Merry Xmas..regards
Hi Michael, I could find my original supplier from eBay, but I believe this option is the same: www.ebay.com.au/itm/2mm-Thick-Self-Adhesive-Felt-Fabric-Nonwoven-Protector-Pad-Background-Rug-/373700893876?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0 Cheers
