    Don't beat yourself up, Jason; we've all been there and made all sorts of bloopers. Stuff happens. With an undertaking of such scale it's unavoidable. The best cure? Just get some trains running, sit back and enjoy the reason you started on this epic journey. Cheers mate!.

      Thanks, Steam! Didn't really beat myself u. It was a little annoying, if anything. But it is progressing nicely..cheers

    Best looking control panels I have seen. Wiring is neat and logical. Whatever stress was worth it my friend. Top Notch.

      Thanks for the comments, I appreciate that. It was a major project in itself, but really happy with the outcome matching the initial vision that I had for them. Regards

    Some of us are told by those around us that the ‘auto’ mode is called bloody mindedness or being stubborn. From experience I am finding that at last I am learning to say whoa and walk away for a bit then I come back and things move on. Thanks Jason for sharing with us your ups and downs.

    Jason, given the size and complexity of your layout, it would be astonishing if something didn't go quite as you wanted. A pain to have to redo the boards but the key thing is that you realised it and put in place a solution. All the other things are really snagging issues. Maybe give yourself a bit of a pat on the back for getting so far with so few major issues. Great that you can really think getting people over to test. Then you can start the scenic work, which I must confess is among the most enjoyable bits of the hobby for me. Stephen

      @JasonWood_Escarpment  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Stephen. Thanks for the encouragement. It was annoying, but once I got started, it came together well. Plus, I must admit, I like the single configuration better..so a bonus.
      And yes, the testing prior to scenery was a must for me, but I am very much looking forward to the scenery phase. Seeing parts of the lay out come to life will be great..cheers

    I learn one thing from your videos Jason , I know I don't have OCD.😂😂😂 Your bad work is better than my best work. Will you have singling and track detection? Can you start on some scenery yet? It would be good to have a break from all the electronics. Great video again ,cheers John.

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment
      @JasonWood_Escarpment  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks John! But I'm not too sure about the bad vs good work thing. I will do some singalling and stuff like that. I'm not sure on the track detection, other than those items related to singalling etc..could be a rabbit hole for me. Have been thinking about doing some terraforming in preparation for scenery..cheers

    Hi Jason, good update, i think I spend most of my life making mistakes especially with my model railway, I knew there was a reason I married Mrs Exehaven as she corrects most of them but, not the model railway!!!
    I think I should be invited over to help with the testing I’m sure no one would notice here that I’d gone for a few weeks, lol!
    We’re suffering a heatwave here in the UK unusual for this time of year so I’m working in my vest and pants in the cabin, strange that no one comes out here to see how I am 🤔🤣
    Cheers for now Jason, John

      Hats off to all the other halves..they normally set us straight. A long way to travel for a layout, but you are always welcome lol!
      They are saying we are headed for a very hot summer, but hopefully, it won't be too hot. It might be the vest? Does it glow lol..regards

      Lol Jason! I like the heat but today it’s so humid Mrs Exehaven and myself don’t know what to do with ourselves! Apart from drink to much beer!🍻

    Great work, good job, Jason.
    Like the heights of the levels of your layout and your concise design.
    Is that felt that you're using for subbase? If so, it will be good for sound deadening....but how is it for fiber particles getting into the gears and such in the engines?
    I will be interested in seeing how it will adhere to ground effects and scenery. At any rate, the space looks like a comfortable, relaxing place to retreat too.
    I'll have to catch up, what you going to run? Iron ore trains? BHP Billiton/Rio Tinto/Pilbara?
    They all have some awesome looking "American and Australian" power units.
    Well, have a good day and Cheers!
    Happy T-rails!

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment
      @JasonWood_Escarpment  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi T-Rails, it is a compressed felt that was used for sound deadening purposes. Given how well it helped to lay track and how well it took to PVC wood glue, it will have no problem with scenery adhesion.
      The layout is based around the Illawara South Coast line in NSW, so it mainly runs coal trains and passenger trains from mid 70s to mid 80s..cheers

    Seasons greetings Jason. I am interested in your comment about the mistake of wiring the LEDs in series on your control panel and their replacement with a parallel wiring. I have will have 40 cross over turnouts operated by tortoise machines and a single DPDT toggel switch with Green and Red LEDs for each turnout. Can you provide a wiring diagram showing the parallel circuit or reference to a suitable video. I do not wish to use bipolar leds.. Regards Ken

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment
      @JasonWood_Escarpment  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Ken, my parallel circuit only uses green LEDs. So it is either green or off for each turnout, if you are not using bipolar will you have 4 LEDs for each turnout?
      You might be better off with bipolar if you want to show red and green for each route. Curious with what your approach is

    • @kennethdurham9903
      @kennethdurham9903 6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. I have decided to go with 2 LEDS per switch that will give 4 per cross over..1 green led on the thru line and 1 on the diverging line for each switch. I will run the LEDS thru the switch on each of the tortoise machines and each tortoise will be cross linked terminal 1 to terminal1 and tgerminal 8 to terminal eight. The LEDS will be connect3d to terminals 6 and 7. I am not sure if I need resistors in line with the LEDS. I have developed a a wiring diagram. How can I send it to you?
      @@JasonWood_Escarpment

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment
      @JasonWood_Escarpment  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Ken, can be sent via j.wood@y7mail.com
      If the LEDs are being feed through the switch machines, I dont believe they need resistors. Although, you might want test to see if you are ok with the brightness..cheers
