Jonny here. HUGE shoutout to Russell for coming in clutch and making this video while I get my family situated in our new home. It was fun to watch this video as purely a spectator soaking in the entertainment! Here is the Jonny Arnett Clips channel that Russell runs, and he will occasionally upload his own stuff over there www.youtube.com/@JonnyArnettClips/featured Do you agree?? Is there anywhere where you would have given the belt to someone else?? NOTE: RIP to the LEGENDARY Jerry West. I’m devastated as a life long Laker fan, and of course, I will be making a tribute video for him. Thank you Jerry for everything.
Thanks guys so much for watching! This was a really big deal for me and I really hope you guys enjoyed! Also RIP to the most underrated basketball entity of all time The Logo Jerry West.
Id like to see this for other categories too like best defender, best playmaker, even beat rebounder and definitely want to see a position specific version where we go through and name best pg, sg, sf, pf and center over the years.
What i love about this channel is when they do ranking videos, they always give their criteria for why they picked who they picked. So if you dont agree with it, you can at least see where they're coming from. Most people will just start ranking players with no rhyme or reason
Great and well-argued video, Russell! You also do great edits for this channel too. Jonny, congrats and best wishes with the move! :) Hope you are able to get some rest too. Last, but not least R.I.P. Jerry West. Heartbroken to hear of his passing today :(
I’d say KG held it for 2 seconds for his 2004 run…. Carried his team to WCF furthest in their history on a weak team Was the leagues best defender and rebounder… And ups his scoring production this year aswell..
Is this the best sports-sports entertainment crossover in human history?? YES, IT IS. And if you are not down with that, we got two words for you.... Hands down, a hell of a job, Russell. And Jonny, blessings for you and your family in your new home. Regards from Mexico city.
First off RIP the Logo But I gotta disagree with Steph on here. The only thing he had over LeBron from 2017-2019 were championships due to how crazy of a team he was on. Of course Steph deserves credit for those great teams, but if we’re talking about the “best player” belt it doesn’t make sense to weigh championships that heavily especially with the criteria at the start of the video. LeBron holds 2011-2018 (maybe 2020) for anyone that was watching that period
I love the concept of active GOATs ! Great video ! I expect Luka to be next. How about a new series that narrates an NBA utopia, where all the expected events actually happens, where all players go through their careers without injuries, play their best basketball, win during their prime, and get their fare share of rings and MVPs !
That curry take. I can’t. Lebron was unbelievable from when he went to Cleveland. Curry built an ultra super team to beat him. And arguably curry was the second best player on that team that included durant
I think Celtics potential b2b or even maybe a 3 peat will allow for Tatum to get a chance. Also including he plays like the best player from game 3 and forward rn in the finals
Thank you! On a sad note, today as basketball fans we all lost an all time great of the game ☹️ Jerry West one of the greatest Lakers players and executives of all time.
I was just thinking the other day about, with Luka currently being the best playing in the finals, they should have a Jerry West finals MVP for the best player regardless of who wins. R.I.P Jerry West
@@relaxingmusic2924 Russell did it when he had to face a HOF-calber center every other night. LeBron did it when he had to face a HOF-caliber forward _maybe_ one out of ten. There, I fixed it for you. Or do you still not understand that more teams dilutes the talent pool?
I don't know if this means you are correct, but I agree with every pick in this video, including the contenders (perhaps should have mentioned KD as contender in the Curry reign, but that's it).
Yo, LeBron in 2011 is a crazy hot take. That was one of the biggest finals meltdowns of all time. You cannot be the best if you choke that hard. I also don't think Steph was ever the best player in the world, but I tend to have a much higher value on defense than the average NBA fan so I probably won't sway anyone with that take.
Am interesting combo idea from both Derrick White and Jonny could definitely be doing this player belt mixed in with the series of who Jonny felt should’ve won the awards. Mixing that series with this would make a whole different timeline
Great Video with one correction. I’m sorry but LeBron only being the best player for four years is a joke. He was clearly, without a doubt the best player in every final against curry
Curry was never the best player in the world lmaoooo, got outplayed by Bron 4 years in a row and wasn’t even the best player on his team for 2 of those years.
What constitutes being the best for you? I think Curry was the best 2015 and 2016 seasons. I am not sure about 17 and 18, I would have said it's either Durant or LeBron, or Curry at those. It's a coin toss.
Rest in peace, Mr. West. It's a bit surreal - I watched three videos on Jerry West yesterday, two of Jonny's and one from Basketball Time Machine. In one of Jonny's ("STOP Disrespecting Jerry West") he spoke of how Mr. West deserved his laurels not just after his death, but during his life, warning that the legend may not be with us for too much longer. Jonny was correct, on both counts, unfortunately.

Good job holding down the fort while Johnny is away, this video was interesting and accurate in my unobjective view

Looking forward to the Jerry West tribute video. I know Jonny will do him justice.

Nice video Russell, good work! Hope everything goes well with Jonny's move. And RIP to the legendary logo, Jerry West 😢
For a second I thought Johnny’s voice changed AGAIN 😂
Yea he has 2 voices kinda one when he’s reading a script and one when he’s just talking.
Lol right

Interesting to me that most players held the belt for about 3 years.
It's nice to see ABA era Dr. J getting a nod as the closest competitors to Kareem's early 70s dominance.
On a more sombre note, RIP Jerry West.

Surely Mikan should have been the first Belt holder
Pre-1960, yeah
yep!!
Totally agree that’s where the belt reign should have started
Looking forward to seeing the Goat Anthony Bennett in the 2010s section.
Edit-WHAT
Snubbed 😢
Russell does not know ball
My bad I'm so sorry to let you down! 😂

😂😂😂 that's a good one
This is an awesome video that gives all of these players their just do and a fair assessment of their performances to rank them
Great video. And shout out to Derrick for having the time of making it between game 2 and 3 of the NBA finals.

Well done Russell very elegant, well reasoned and informative video
Awesome video idea Russell! Well done taking over Jonny’s spot in his absence. 👍👍
This was actually a great video.

This was pretty damn good, and very well done.
Please never stop making content !!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!!!
Great show: I agree with every player that have a belt: however, I wish George Mikan had a belt for the 50's
Looking forward the 1950s extention. We have some of the potential belt holders from then still alive. Will be nice to honour them. Great video!!
Enjoyed this one! My only disagreement is that it should've started with George Mikan
Awesome video! Shout out to Jonny moving
If you miss jerry West go check Paul George podcast
Jerry really opened up and went deep talking about himself and his life during that episode

So Rest in Peace Mr Clutch 🫡
“Curry 2015-2018” 🤣😂🤣
😊
I might pick wade in 2011 but great list
Yeah that was the only year I might’ve disagreed, Wade was the Heat. And Wade played great in the Finals too and we know how LeBron played.

Next belts will be Luka then Wemby..
Good choices. I'm leaning this way too. I'm pulling for the Mavs right now because if they don't win it's going to hurt Luka's legacy.
I think Celtics potential b2b or even maybe a 3 peat will allow for Tatum to get a chance. Also including he plays like the best player from game 3 and forward rn in the finals
I feel Jordan was better than magic in 87 -90 , but didn’t have the team behind him.
Lebron literally outplayed steph in the finals every one of those years. He was the best in the league from 2011 to 2018 clearly.
RIP Jerry West

It's rare to see basketball video where I agree with everything but I don't see a single flaw in this list
Hey Jonny I literally just rewatched your most disrespected jerry west video 2 days before he died. RIP to the logo man
Not often I completely agree with a list like this, but yeah, no notes.
Lebron with the Big Gold World Heavyweight Championship is a perfect match. Makes me wanna see him in WWE lol
15:32 Unprecedented eight Finals appearances? Did you forget that not only did Russell win eight straight, but he made ten straight?
Came to the comment section to call that out 👏🏻
Russell did that when there were 8 teams lol, lebron did it in the 2010s

I think Steph was the best from 2015 to 2016 only. In 2017 to 2018, that could go to Durant. Just my opinion.
Wilt actually won two MVPs from 60 to 66. Good video still.
EDIT: And is Derrick White making the All-RUclips team as well?
Shout out to choosing the big gold as the belt in question. Correct choice.
Lmfaooooooo that's so funny you said that because it was a VERY intentional decision
I'd pick Bron at 2018.
I feel like there should have been a couple years where you should have given the belt to a player for one year
Right when he said the 3rd category I knew he was forcing curry in there 😂😂, it’s just wrong
Great Video with one correction. I’m sorry but LeBron only being the best player for four years is a joke. He was clearly, without a doubt the best player in every final against curry
I dont totally disagree but he was either the champ or #1 contender from 2008-2021, I think that gives you a good idea of his longevity and greatness
