      This was their “Black Ice” tour. The album made history when released back in 2008 when it debuted at #1 in 29 countries and the tour is the 4th highest grossing tour of all time. It was number 3 but, Roger Waters’ “The Wall” tour a few years later would knock it down to number 4. All the while the band (unbeknownst to the world) knew the awful truth that Malcolm was dying from Dementia. Apparently near the end of the tour he was having trouble remembering how to play songs that not only he had played a million times but, songs he himself had written with Angus. He was having to rehearse way more than before. The world wouldn’t find out about Malcolm’s illness until around the “Rock or Bust” album as rumours flew that the album’s delay was do to illness with a band member and eventually it was revealed that it was Malcolm...

    "AC/DC Live At River Plate was recorded in Buenos Aires in December 2009 when nearly 200,000 fans (over 3 sold-out nights) thunderously welcomed AC/DC back after a 13-year absence from Argentina"

    AC/DC is one of those bands where you get several generations together in the audience. I remember going to a Mötley Crüe concert a few years ago and when I remarked to my cousin that I remembed when him and me bought the record where the song they were playing first was released, a group of kids who were standing behind us said to me "Holy shit! I wasn't even born when that came out!" On the Roger Waters "Dark Side of the Moon" tour (Pink Floyd) I actually saw grandpas with their sons and their grandsons enjoying the music. Great music finds listeners regardless of age.

It is PHENOMENAL 🔥😈 🔔😈🔥 I think this was from the incredible “Live from River Plate Stadium” concert which featured what I think would have to be the world’s largest mosh pit 🤟😝 I grew up through the late 70’s & all through the 80’s rocking out to their music, particularly their early classics like “Jail Break” & my personal favourite “It’s a long way to the top (if ya wanna rock & roll)”. Other great songs from this show include “rock & roll train” & “shoot to thrill” 💖🎸🎸🎸💖 In my opinion..... They are one of the greatest rock bands of all time ✊️😈👍✅✅✅

    As a teen I and my friends waited with anticipation for months for the new AC/DC album. Everyone wondered how it was going to sound because it was their first album after Bon Scot had died and everyone knew the sound would have to be very different. I remember lying in bed on a Sunday night listening as the local rock station played it straight through. From the opening chords of Hell's Bells it blew my mind.
    BTW: you might want to listen to the album version.

    Angus aka the schoolboy has always played sober. The guy playing the yellow guitar was his brother Malcolm, who passed away recently. Angus may be small, but he's a good guitarist.45 years of making music.

      Matthew Drake I miss Mal! Hopefully Drs will let Brian tour again. I heard him sing with Sammy Hagar a while back, he’s still got it. Wasn’t it their sister that recommended the school boy clothes? It has always amazed me how Brian didn’t overshadow Bon or compete with his legacy. He forged his own path as the frontman. AC⚡️DC ❤️🤘🏻

    • @matthewdrake4385
      @matthewdrake4385 4 года назад +1

      Teresa, think you are mistaken with how Malcom & Angus' sister had a role in the formation of AC/DC. From what I can recall, the band got the name from the back of their sister's sewing machine (the AC/DC meaning alternating current/direct current) and kind of reflected the kind of music they wanted to make. The schoolboy clothes for Angus came from him coming home from school, but not having enough time to change from his school clothes before band practice. I agree that Brian was able to have his own voice for the band, and not overshadow Bon. I also recall, that Brian was hand-selected by Bon before his passing, that he liked his style and his voice, but i could be mistaken.

    • @teresahall4247
      @teresahall4247 4 года назад +1

      Matthew Drake That’s right! It was his uniform from school! Thanks for jogging the memory. The sewing machine story always cracked me up, I loved telling that to the preachers during “the satanic panic”.
      I can’t believe I had forgotten it was Angus’ uniform I was a walking encyclopedia in the 80s-90s. Gee after 50 I guess you do start to forget things. 🤦‍♀️ I love both Bon & Brian. Wish I could’ve seen Bon live.

      Matthew Drake I got to see them in a University’s gym in the late 80s. WHOA talk about rocking a building. That did ruin me as the other shows were in big venues. We were insane! Was a smaller one then, about a 40,000 venue. They were getting on here but it's amazing, you're damn right these are kids who grew up on this. Listen to when it came out, this was towards the end of concert, they'd played for hours. Angus Young, guitar, Malcolm Young bass RIP, the two started it. Live at the River Plate in Argentina. That tour grossed $441 million and the crowd size was 200,000 people over 3 nights. Absolutely awesome, upwards of 70,000 each night. Great choice!

    Angus Young's original uniform was from his secondary school, Ashfield Boys High School in Sydney. By 1973, Angus had long left school. His sister Margaret suggested he wear the uniform after Malcolm asked each band member to come up with their own gimmick.

All of them still talk about that night to this day

    This is the Argentine crowd at rock recitals, my friend. No one controls it. They just go there, enjoy the concert as if the world were going to end tomorrow and do their magic.
    Such unity is created that is almost a mystical experience. But don't think that depends exclusively on the band or artist that is playing. Here people are just like that with rock. (and sometimes with other musical genres too)

    ...and the crowd is SINGING the main guitar melody line! 🤘🔥🔥🤘 - C'mon!!!! THAT is an AUDIENCE!!!!! 🤘🤘
    [They obviously adore the AC/DC boys, too.
    -- Bless the Young brothers! R.I.P. Malc. 😥😥😭😭😭😭]

      ...and as Jamel, obviously, doesn't know (yet! 😛(: The lead guitarist is, one: Angus Young (his older brother Malcolm is on the rhythm and is JUST as important to the band's sound!) - Their older brother was, in fact, a member of: The Easybeats who had a hit with "Friday On Mind" in the '60s. He and another member, then, left and formed what became a famous production duo and song-writing team and, even an artist (or 2 😛), over the decades [See: Flash & The Pan, Vanda & Young....] -Stevie Wright, lead singer for The Easybeats, also had a solo career in Australia and Malcolm and Angus, both, played lead and rhythm guitar on Stevie's first 2 solo albums! 🤘🤘🔥 (PRIOR to forming: AC/DC!!!!).
      Vanda and Young [Larry Vanda and George Young (one of Malcolm and Angus; older brothers,)], the ex-Easybeats, were, in fact, the producers for the majority (or, maybe, even all - I don't recall, at this very moment. - Apologies!!) of AC/DC's albums, during the Bon Scott-era!!"
      ...Shit, that's a sloppy sentence 😵😵🤦‍♂️😜
      ...what I had wanted to say was: Angus Young is the lead guitarist of AC/DC (and, definitely the most recognized member!).
      His shtick started, almost, from the beginning of the band (I don't recall the story , now, but It was based on some kind of joke -as is, likely, obvious!), which is, famously: a full-grown man dressing in his, actual, schoolboy uniform (Angus donned his actual one - which was wayy too small, at the time -duh! -This is, also, how the mooning thing started - The pants of his uniform wouldn't fit him!... 😛), from when he was 🤷‍♂️ 10?? ...12?? ...(something like that....).
      ...So, after he did it the first time (as a joke, or whatever), the crowd loved it so much, they started requesting he do it ..,and, he, eventually, caved and has been wearing it ever since, on stage. NOW if he were to show-up without it, people would lose their, damned, MINDS!!!! (I'm PRETTY sure there might be a riot!) 😜😜😜
      -There's your AC/DC "short lesson." ..Now, get depressed, because: the band is kaput. You will never see them live, Jamel. - I am sorry for you. 😥😥😥🤘🤘

    Jamel, the little guitarist is Angus Young. One of the top five rock guitarists of all time. I took my daughter to see them, in 2004 ( at Joe Louis Arena - Detroit), when she was 12. She sat on my shoulders and sang every word of every song. :) Her favorite band, even till this day. Thank you for doing these reviews. It reminds me of how good music was, back in the day. My daughter and I still talk about the AC/DC concert, from 15 years ago. But, like I remind her. I've been listening to these guys since the mid 70's. :)

    The shirtless guy is Angus Young. He’s 64 this year. That concert was in 2009, which would have made him 54 at the time. Still rocking out in his 50s and 60s!

    Very few bands can fill such a huge stadium, and few can get such a huge crowd jumping like that. The best Rock band to ever come out of Australia.
