    Appreciate your understanding of "not approved" is not a death sentence... it just means NOT TESTED.

    I got lots of eggs water glassed last year but this year things were just too hectic. Love the boots 😂 i have my clean flip flops and my dirty ones, its embarrassing how often i forget to switch out. Looks like you all had such a good time. You think so much like i do when canning. Good morning! Fun to see a video from you first thing today. You're officially my morning motivation!
    I love grape jelly, but haven't had homemade in forever! It looks beautiful!
    I watched the video from the meet-up & knew who the goat-on-a-rope was!❤
    The salsa had my mouth watering. I think you have changed some of my tomato plans for today...
    I'm still on the fence about waterglassing, but I have time to work thru that since the fresh eggs our Farmer Joe has for me are not usually "clean". Yummy, but not for waterglassing.
    Have a fantastic Sunday!❤❤

    I think Ball needs to add a new method of canning to it's book, the Ms Chrystal Cram It Method!! 😂 Good job on the salsa and jelly! I prefer cold packing most canning projects, imo it yields better results. I harvested some sumac. I have to figure out how to preserve it today. 😊

    • @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska
      @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska  Год назад +1

      Then I could be famous! Ha! I’ve been thinking about sumac lately. This is what I’ve come up with so far… sprinkled in pasta and potato salad, topping for orange BBQ glazed chicken, pineapple and sumac glazed pork roast, tossed in a green salad with bacon bits. 😊

    When i raw pack cold or room temp stuff, I start wirh the water in the canner at room temp, too. Then it comes to the boil, and i start my timer.
    If i open kettle, i make sure the jars have been washed in hot, soapy water, rinsed, sntd then allowed to boil in the canning water for at keast ten minutes. Usually not hard to do as i don't use pectin, either, and i have to stir and stir until the magic jelly/jam moment.
    If I'm giving as gifts, I'll waterbath for at least 5 minutes (or 10-15 depending on the recipe).
    I am one of those who cannot abide cilantro, although i do like coriander. Go figure...
    We've had so much rain this summer that I'm still waiting for my tomatoes to turn red. I hope ti get some canned before it's applesauce time!

    I'm too scared to water glass eggs. I've actually rubbed paraffin on fresh eggs and it works. It seals the pours in the shell so nothing gets in and no air escapes. Always keep in a very cool area. Town boots and Ms. Daisy. Wish I could have been there. Maybe next time. I'm one of those that thinks cilantro tastes like soap. Salsa and chips. Mmm. Smart move with reusing hot water. I bought some muscadines and I'm thinking about making jelly out of it. Stay safe my friends ☺️

      Fun fact: if you think, cilantro, taste like soap, and you don’t like the taste of broccoli, you might be what’s called a super taster. Which means that you have twice as many taste buds on your tongue than most people. Welcome to the random knowledge that rolls around inside my head. Ha!

      @@Me-td8eo yep. You got it! Fun story I thought you might enjoy. I may have been the only human on the face of the planet to search Amazon for.” Trash bags my pigs can eat.” Ha! My theory was if I can find a compostable trash bag that was digestible, because you know they’re made of cornstarch now, then I could line the pig buckets with it, and we wouldn’t have to clean pig buckets anymore. But, sad sushi, it takes four months for them to compost, so that would most likely be real bad for the pigs. 🤪
