Kershaw link 20 CV made in USA you can't beat it for the money
After the original video, I picked up a Civivi. Bought it, loved it, used it for a year, and it was stolen. Bought another, still using it. Add an Olight Warrior mini flashlight, my dad's 50yr old small Case Stockman, and a Black fox mini tool. It's an inexpensive, but useful EDC that works for me. I have much more expensive knives, but they've become garage queens. I love inexpensive knives that are surprising quality knives. If I buy a $200 knife, it's expected that it will be a quality knife, but I'm less likely to risk it for some uses.
Thanks for reviving this video.
Was not expecting to see the Sokoke on the top of this list. I love mine. I bought the green micarta on black. Amazing and so fun to flip open!
My Top 10 (Using prices at time of purchase)
1. Kizer Begleiter M390 $99
2. Kizer Feist M390 $99
3. QSP Penguin 154CM $97
4. CJRB Feldspar S35VN $79
5. CJRB Pyrite AR-RPM9 $49
6. CRJB Lago AR-RPM9 $49
7. Ferrum Forge Stinger Nitro-V $89
8. Civivi Imperium Nitro-V $62
9. Civivi Button Lock (Large) 14C28N $65
10. Spyderco Tenacious 8Cr13MoV $64
Check out the CJRB denim Scoria, the Kizer Justice, and what do you think of the Kizer Original compared to the Feist?
Currently i'm a big fan of Vosteed, so pretty much every knife of theirs that's under $100.
My top 10 (not in order)
Civivi Baby Banter
Civivi Cogent
Civivi Elementum
CRKT Offbeat II
CRKT Pilar
CRKT Minimalist
QSP Penguin
Fox knives Baby Core
Kizer Lätt Vind Mini
Kizer Domin
This was an AMAZING lineup. Dang. Well done.
Totally agree about the Knafs Lander. Great all round knife.
I got a Pyrite this week and i'm really impressed with it. So smoooth to open and smooth to drop too. In my opinion it is the best budget button lock knife (sorry Elementum 2).
That Kizer Feist is a great option for a smaller knife.Looks really good and the pocket clip looks pretty strong too.
The one i'm going to look into getting is that Terzoula. I like the blade shape and the finger pull on that one.
Thanks for the run-down, I really appreciate it.
Great vid . I was entertained the whole time and enjoyed your take on the knives . Like Dirk Werning says from time to time ..” we like what we like “
Love my Pyrite! The button lock is tuned so good 😍
My favorite EDC knife, which WAS under a $100 at the time I bought it, is the Kershaw Link with CPM 20CV blade steel (crazy great steel for under $100) and an olive green anodized aluminum handle, all made in the USA baby.
Sencut Honoris, longest in the pocket for a year now. Bought first one, loved it and shortly had to fly somewhere and drive back so ordered 2nd version. Got home and swapped scales and it’s perfect with black blade and wood scales. Nuff said.
I think this could be a great series… your cadence and simple yet in-depth explanation of the blades and the likes/dislikes makes this video SUPER easy to watch and stay for the entire duration of the video.
“Best knives under $50”
“Best Amazon knives under $100”
“Best super budget knives under $30”
Etc etc
Anyways, excellent video, instant subscribe.
Civivi button lock and the Esee izula are my favourite knives under $100
I second the izula
@@tylerschafer1296 I know right, always have it with me. It's a great boot knife as well.
@gearup9503 been carrying mine for almost 10yrs
@@tylerschafer1296 Nice!
Izulla 2 is my favorite fixed blade. That carbon steel can hold quite the edge.
So glad to see the boker bonfire get some attention. It’s been my daily for a while now and I love it. All around a good knife.
The vosteed raccoon, cjrb swaggs maileah, and qsp penguin are all great budget knives
I love your videos man! Keep up the great work! I definitely have to pick up one of these knifes myself!
I'm loving my Mad Tanto, but my OG button lock only Elementum is my favorite knife I've purchased for under 100. I like it better than my Elementum 2 BL with flipper
Great video I really appreciate you doing this video
For $86 the Kershaw Link comes in CPM-20CV. My opinion is that because of the aluminum handles and steel choice, it’s one of the best values under $100
I currently have a knafs lander in my pocket and honestly I agree with this list and I have two civivi sokokes and I absolutely love it
I was just talking to someone the other day about how like 8-9 years ago when I bought my bk14 for an EDC fixed blade it was slim pickens, now there are pretty much infinite options at every price point from the CRKT Minimalist all the way up to customs. Good time to be a gear junkie!
It's old but, no under $100 list is complete without the Kershaw Leek! My Leek is 23 years old and still going strong. Just bought my 11 year old Grandson one for his birthday ( his 1st pocket knife ) and he loves it too.
recently picked up the new elementum with the button lock, and I love it
Yo man, i enjoyed the video !
You've shown us a lot of great and different designs to what we are used to see in these types of videos.
Goos Job!
Picked up a Sokoke after watching this, came with a really soft detent and opened in my pocket a couple times. Nothing a little lock bar bending couldn’t fix
Nice list. More I'm adding to my wishlist. 👍🍻
Could you possibly do a version of this for fixed blade edc?
You cant forget the Vosteed Racoon ! Awsome knife!
I just picked up a Sencut Watauga with the micarta grip, and I love it. I also recently got a QSP Penguin that I really like. The Elementum is a given on this list. My wife gifted me an Oknife Rubato 2. The Kizer Feist is a stupid nice knife for
My favorite sub $100 knives are:
Cold Steel AD15 Lite - A unique custom design with a very strong lock for only ~$80
The Knifecenter Exclusive QSP Penguin - The classic QSP Penguin, but with S35 and special coral G10 scales for only $65
Button Lock Elementum II, which doesn't really need a description.
Only have a top six that are under $100, but they're all great.
(In no particular order)
The James Brand - The Redstone (An inexpensive crossbar locking knife I don't mind beating up)
CJRB - Pyrite (I was surprised how much I love this one, probably going to get more to keep in different locations)
SOG - Terminus XR (Even have options including Damascus blade under $100)
CRKT - Fossil Small (Not a style everyone would like, but it's interesting)
Boker Plus - Kwaiken Air Mini (Lots of configurations over $100, but even the less expensive ones are great)
Boker - Urban Trapper (Although most options are over $100, this is such a great knife, I have several)
Bestechman - Dundee (Nothing exceptional, but for the price it's hard to fault)
I love my pyrite! Best value folder I’ve ever owned. The higher end model would be awesome
My experiences with aarpm9 blade steel from them has been pretty great. My feldspar would take a screaming sharp edge with its ultra fine grain structure.
Agreed
The Feldspar has such a great aesthetics.
I really like my civivi conspirator and dogma with copper scales (but really civivi is just incredible at this price point). I'd really like to see more cross bar lock in stainless, the iridium is great but d2, so i'd say something like sog terminus in s35vn.
Great video btw!
Might as well add the miguron Moyarl for next year , it’s a banger after break in . Detent and finger choil perfection and the blade works great
Great list
#1 knife is the one my dad made from the leaf spring of a dump truck. A 14" Bowie knife. Best knife I own period
my edc for the last several years has been the Kershaw Leek. a nice slim design for my pocket and affordable. not the coolest knife around, but for a slim design, it's hard to beat
Ive spent some decent money on knives and I agree, I got the one with the carbon fiber handle, and man is that thing comfortable to carry and use.
Top 10 in no Particular Order
1. Kershaw Link 20cv
2. Civivi Baklash
3. Civivi Baby Banter
4. Civivi Mini Bull Mastiff
5. Kizer Original
6. Kizer Beglieter 2
7. Lightning OTF
8. CRKT Squid (Copper/ D2)
9. CRKT Minimalist D2
10. Cold Steel Airlite
My favourite budget knife is my Damascus civivi Sokoke since it’s release it’s had more pocket time than all other knives combined. Also been enjoying the WE Knife Trogon.
The Civivi Baby Banter and Ki-V are some of my personal favorites under $100
I’ve found that unless the actual button is recessed below the scale; I can have the same issue you had with any button lock.
Ontario rat 1 in D2 is still my favorite. Perfect heavy duty work knife that is bomb proof and cheap enough that it doesn't hurt your wallet if you ruin it or lose it. Knives over 100 bucks make me kinda reluctant to use it for anything other than opening boxes or cutting my kid's straws shorter at fast food places
Civivi has several titanium pocket clips you can put on your Sokoke. They've got a milled one and a deep carry one that comes in two lengths
Great video. Lots of new choices. Tough tough decisions. I currently carry the civivi elementum 2 and absolutely love it. But I'd be lieing if I said that sekoke didn't catch my attention lol.
Kershaw Iridium. Top choice!
Great video. I feel you about rest somehow I got my my ferrum forge stinger to rust and its annoying
I will forever swear by the Kubey Royal KU321. The smoothest action I've ever felt from a stock knife at the price point, it feels sturdy as all hell, and is pretty damn sharp out of the package
Another Best Damn EDCK video. I really need to see the video on the Gamut 3.0. I’m actively looking for a new platform for carry.
I rotate a few edc blades (Para 3, 945 & Elementum) but I’ve found that the SOG terminus XR gets the most pocket time.
My top 3 under 100 are my QSP Penguin, RAT 1 in D2, and a tie for #1 is my Spyderco Tenacious and my Civivi Elementum.
My favorite under $100 knife is my Civivi Conspirator. Perfection.
Kershaw Random Leek is so great for the price. How thin / low profile it is makes it my go-to for pocket carry. Now, time to watch your video!
Do they make any leeks that aren’t assisted opening? It’s honestly a deal breaker for me.
My favorite to carry is the twosun TS 267 the handle is titanium and carbon fiber inlay with a budget steel it also around $100
I can't name all 10 off the top of my head but the crkt ceo has been my daily use for over a year. Many things from crkt, civivi, and Kershaw.
Kershaw dividend in olive. Top 3 in my edc rotation
You asked about other modern classics, check out the CIVIVI Appalachian drifter . Probably my current favorite under $100
My personal top 10 under $100. In no particular order.
- CJRB Pyrite
- CRKT Tuna
- Civivi Nox
- Civivi Mini Praxis
- Gerber Instant
- Gerber Flatiron
- Lone Wolf Mini Landslide
- Spyderco Para 3 LW (got mine years ago when they were cheaper)
- Spyderco Jester
- Gerber Paralite
I’ve never liked Kershaws. Even when I first got into knives. But that Iridium caught my eye too.
Love the sencut sashi.
The Vosteed Labrador is a fantastic knife. Great steel and a fantastic action.
Anything carbon fiber is 👍 if its light and slicey imo . My top ten under a hundo would be kizer Gemini in carbon fiber , civivi conspirator with unlocked composites , kizer Xl Begleighter cF , kizer minitherium and the other was $100 @AK . Shred cF praxis , Cmb predator is a must , cF bugout clone for $40 is sweet , banter , SMKE Battle and green thorn Stellar . These knives listed rock
I love the 14c28n CMP predator and the kizer mad tanto
Really nice little collection pal ATB paddy
I would submit for consideration; The Kizer Towser S. And a modern traditional, QSP hedgehog. Two new excellent knives...
Kershaw blur 60 to 70 depends where you get it love this knife
CJRB Mini Feldspar, Petrified Fish Mini Beluga, Kizer T1, Honey Badger, QSP Penguin, SOG Terminus XR LTE (used), Spyderco Bill Moran (used), CJRB Ria, Kubey Royal KU321, and the Fiskars Norden N7 hatchet.
Great video
I got the Sokoke three weeks ago and It truly is the best knife under $100. It's so damn smooth.
I got a small cut from my Assassin disengaging doing some twisting cuts, ground off almost 2mm and gave button a bevel, much better :P
Manly Wasp ( S90V)- Boker Urban Trapper-Falkniven U2.I live in Belgium that's why most of the time i carry the Spiderco Ladybug :)
My top 10 in no certain order: Kershaw Leek, Kershaw Blur, Spyderco Delica 4 LW, Spyderco UK Pen Knife in CTS BD1, CJRB Pyrite Stainless, Lightning OTF, Knafs Lander, Ontario RAT 1, Ontario RAT 2 & Buck 110 Slim. (Anxious to try the new Kershaw's with their Duro lock.)
MKM Isonzo in micarta and M390 Blade HQ exclusive, Knafs Lander in 14C28N, CJRB Pyrite in Titanium, Vosteed Grind, We Banter, Kizer Begleiter 2, Vosteed Raccoon are all great choices under $100
The exclusive mkm isonzo in m390 from BHQ is crazy value, and one of my favorite knives
If you don't just wanna "beat" it but use it for daily knife stuff;
-Böker LRF
-Sencut Bronte
The build quality of the Börker is better; the advertised bearing of the Sencut is kinda odd from the feeling - Yet the Bronte is for me perfect to open packages / plastics wraps around stuff whenever I don't wanna have the edge "down"/"towards the wraped stuff" + it has G10 grips so I don't have to worry if some stuff gets on it, while on the other hand the LRF is just a little bit fancy and a good day to day knife.
Civivi CJRB and Kizer all make great knives under $100 but my favorite will always be the Spyderco Endura
Buck 110, Brisa Necker, New Queen trapper, buck 110 Slim Select, Buck Vantage, Cold Steel 4 Max Scout, Opinel #6, COBRATEC Quick Strike, Bear and Son 5 inch Butterfly, COBRATEC lightweight otf.
Sencut is one of my favorites
Asher Knives should definitely be on most peoples top 10 knives under $100
The CJRB Pyrite is awesome! My daughter liked it so much I gave it to her and now I have to get another. That being said, I don't even own a knife over $70 let alone over $100. My most expensive knife is my Civivi Button Lock Elementum II. Lately, because they match my EDC, I've been switching b/w my Civivi Praxis w/ cuibourtia wood scales and my CJRB Feldspar w/ brown G10 scales.
I’m obsessed with mine, I came from a griptilian and the knife certainly doesn’t feel 1/4 the price compared to what I came from but it is great
1. BPS knives adventurer, 2. Condor Native Hunter, 3. Cold Steel Master Hunter in 3V
Hey man, make a video on that Marathon Watch! Love the channel!
I love the Civivi Baby Banter , it goes everywhere with me
Civivi makes titanium milled pocket clips that come with 6 different length screws to fit on almost every knife. I have a titanium clip on my Sencut sasche
I'm just now realizing where I recognized you from, Pocketnow & PhoneDog I knew your face and voice were familiar without all the hair. Wow super weird how you and I both started in and with IT and are now moving into EDC what a small world. happy to see you making content in a space I enjoy keep it up.
Excellent!
1) benchmade griptillian (second hand as it got expensive) - hard use
2) spyderco delica
3) opinel N°8 carbon steel
4) ontario rat 2
5) victorinox huntsman - light use
6) opinel N°7 carbon steel - light use
7) old bear medium carbon steel
8) kershaw atmos - light use
9) mora basic (yes it is a fixed blade but weight is nothing and costs nothing) - hard use
10) kabar dozier
I just picked up a Esee Izula S35VN for just under $100, I ordered some 3d micarta scales for it but I think it’s one hell of a deal for a sub $100 knife.
1. Bestech Swordfish
2. QSP Penguin
3. Artisan Cutlery Sea Snake (neck knife)
4. Civivi Ki V
5. CJRB Feldspar
6. CRKT Pilar
7. Ka Bar Jarosz Beartooth
8. Boker Magnum Japanese Iris
9. Buck 110
10. Just about any other Bestech product. I Love the smooth action You get for under $100!!
Kizer Sheepdog, Asher Spiro, Tempest Pinion, Asher Douglas, Artisan Ahab
I actually EDC 2 of the knives on this list. The Boker and Civivi Sokoke. Boker because I did not want to beat up my Penas and that Sokoke is amazing. Great size and that Civivi action. Elementum has fallen 🙂
Best USA made knife under $100. Kershaw Link with aluminum scales and 20CV blade steel. Mine was $80 from Amazon.
Can you tell me where the best place to find hand made traditional fix blades from and also where I can find a website to get sheaths from
Me personally I like anything from $50-150. But you should do this video for $50 and a separate one for $150. I enjoyed this video. But to see those 3 budgets would be sweet. If you want to try out a knife for $30. Hands down the Swiss Tech Wurdig is such a sleeper. From the packaging to the quality. I seen a few people talk great about it so I had to try it. Ordered the black version from Walmart and liked it so much. I got the OD version as well.
What is a good blade for the summer so it doesn’t get hot
I have a few QSP penguins that fit the goal and a couple others that definitely don't. Utility wise it's a knife that doesn't fail to meet the specs and the upgrades that you can get it will never not be my recommendation
My issue with ARrpm9 is the 2 different knives I got with it, is I'm finding it a bit brittle. I found the same thing from revo and their d2
My top 10 under $100 would probably be mostly (or all) Civivi. I think they make the best knives under $100 hands down. I also like Boker though. The $300 Bugout has the carbon fiber scales.
My picks outta that list would probably be the Kershaw, then the Lander. My pick that's not on the list, would be the Spyderco Leafjumper.
What do you think of SOG? I have the SOG Flash AT
