Cool list, but my own EDC I can do without the multi-tool and wallet, so I'd put a few more dollars into the quick release keychain just to get a stronger magnet. The Zebra pens come in second to the G2 Pilot pens IMO. Love the QSP Penguin pick too, and can't argue with an Olight I guess:)

    • @CertifiedSunset
      @CertifiedSunset Год назад +2

@@geico1975 i also prefer the G2 pilot pens, and I would choose a better light if budget allowed. I just threw the list together to see if I could conceptualize a better kit going by his criteria in the video.
Edit: My personal EDC is much more expensive.

    • @disco4535
      @disco4535 Год назад +2

Only thing I'd change is Zebra pens because their quality is abysmal. Many other options, some are even a little cheaper. I bought that exact same pen about a month ago and it was a choppy mess. Pulled the other one out of the 2 pack and it was even worse. Threw them away and bought pilot g2 and Sharpie S-Gel. Both have been flawless.

    • @xDooksx

QSP Penguin was my first QSP and my second was the Parrot. Both good EDC's for sure. There's so many though of that size, materials and cost, which are great! Even a couple models of Ganzo knives are just fine EDC's for anyone.

Nite Ize keyrack slide lock $5, Chums Surfshorts wallet $10, Zebra F301 pen $7, Streamlight Microstream USB $30, Gerber Shard multi tool $7. Leaving $41 for a knife. The Chums Surfshorts wallet is a very underrated Wallet. I love mine!

For a tiny mini square flashlight with red LED, I would highly recommend Rovyvon E7. Not only it has brighter twin LEDs, but also dual white/red sidelight flood light modes. Best of all it has both an internal rechargeable battery and AAA battery as primary or backup.

Personally, I would nix the flashlight (a phone has a passable light), and combine the knife and multi tool into one (by doing this you can get a nicer tool, and at this price point, you don't need two dedicated tools).
    Here's my stab:
    - Gerber Gear Suspension NXT: $29.99
    - Nite Ize Dual Locking Carabineer: $2.95
    - Magpul Daka Essentials: $16.95
    Total cost: $49.91
This has the benefit of giving you a nice pair of pliers as well. If you don't need the pliers, I'd switch the Gerber for a Milwaukee 6-in-1 Fastback. Utility knife EDC isn't flashy, but it's got a lot going for it, plus it'll save you another $5.

What about a $100 EDC build without the knife? That way you can show some better quality items that we might not know about without half the budget going to the knife. I feel like people are pickier about their knife choices anyway and so whatever budget knife you pick, 75+% of people aren't going to be interested in that knife anyway.

No longer an outdoor type, my EDC:
    Carried on belt -
Swiss Army Knife (Champ) in belt holster.
2 x Jigsaw blades (one metal, one wood) each in 1/4" heat shrink tube.
3" piece of hot melt glue stick
    Pen
    Lighter
    1/2 round sharpening stone
Key for house, on key ring with mini LED light, and 9mm Olfa utility knife, cut down to 3" long.
    Right angle LED light
Leatherman Wave (this may be removed)
1 X $100 bill, rolled up (optionally folded small). I used to carry a $20 bill, but that wont buy anything now, as backup.
    Carried in pockets -
Folded bandana, 2 x folded down paper towers, 1 X pack of tissues
    Cell phone
Fresnel lens attached to cell phone in ID badge holder
    Wallet
Spare key for house, on key ring with mini LED light
    12' X 750# paracord
And occasionally, conceal carry .40 cal pocket pistol.

FYI, in the 1960s and 70’s, arts and crafts teachers were told to tell kids who they saw were butterfingers to never cut towards themselves because they didn’t want to liability of the parents of these kids suing the schools. Somehow it became a norm that you shouldn’t cut towards yourself. It’s completely nonsensical to anyone who has any skills and motor control. The butterfingers of this world should follow this, but they generally would not be interested in anything EDC. And if you are an EDC person and you are tempted to say this, then you are the person that everyone regards as a fuss budget

Had that light for a long time on my keys. Can't fault it at all.
Why not get a Parker pen? Or do those not retail in America?

Don't cut toward yourself is a great rule until you learn to do so safely. Keep your hands out of the way, don't put arteries in the path of the blade, etc

Swap the knife for a buck 722 spitfire. Aluminum body, ergonomics of a spiderco. Thin. And screw holes on all corners for pocket clip options.

I'd go for a 111mm Victorinox with a decent toolset instead of the knife+victorinox rally.

So... If I was going $100 budget I'd be happy with: (prices rounded up with cash left over.)
-Sitivien ST124 in Jade g10 for $30 before a 5% coupon at check out. (Fidgety cross-bar Lock. Own one already and it works surprisingly well. But if push came to shove and I needed to save a little $$ I'd be able to work with a Kabar Dozier at around $25)
    -Rovyvon A1 for $20
-EDC Pocket organizer for $11 (Arc Company Bolder Wallet knock-off)
-Victorinox Tinker for $22 (multitool needs to multitool... a Classic doesn't)
-Pokka pen ($8 for one out of a 2-pk at $16)
    -$8 on a Gerber Mullet as a Keyring/Prybar/Key hanger/"multitool" thing
Tinker would go on the mullet with keys and a free rubber band from work as a key silencer (and hang from a belt loop or rest at the bottom of a deep front pocket). Pokka Pen and RovyVon would go in the edc wallet which can also hold several cards and a couple large denomination emergency bills in a front off-hand pocket (I primarily pay for things with my phone). Sitivien clipped to a main-hand pocket (either front or back depending on preference)
This mirrors elements of my actual edc. Under 4 inch blade on the Sitivien ST124 keeps it Florida Legal and I appreciate that it has a 90° spine for scraping tasks. EDC wallet lets me access Pen (sign invoices) or Flashlight (peer into dark corners) without pulling the wallet out. Prybar for prying on things like nails stuck in pallet jack wheels in my case. Victorinox to tighten loose screws, open after work beverages, pull splinters, etc etc etc...
