We don’t do sheaths like that for everyone. 😁 Thats definitely a one off. 😂 35:55
Really enjoyed this. Felt like a chill session almost like a podcast. Relaxing and fun video. Nice stuff!
love that Marathon!
Awesome meeting you at blade show (I was tall guy at the Big Idea booth)
It’s my most worn watch. By far.
Tritium is a radioactive material and Enrico Fermi was a scientist who worked in the Manhattan project and other experiments with radio active material . That is probably why they call that one knife the Fermi.
Fermi is also credited with creating the first self-sustaining nuclear reaction (nuclear reactor) along with helping create the A- and H-bombs
Taylor: "I've got way too much gear, I'm selling a ton of it."
Blade Show 2023 happens*
Taylor: "Here are my 28 new knives"
😭
BigBallerEDC!
Dude. Love it. Was awesome to meet you at the show! Hope you get your wife that bum bag soon ;) and I can’t wait to see you wear a shirt that says “your wife hates me” 😂😂
Top 3 that I picked up.
1. Georgia Peach Tactile Turn pen.
2. Ocaso Solstice with the unreleased harpoon blade (super great guys! Ricks awesome)
3. Of all things…. CJRB Pyrite. Insanely good budget knife.
Also ended my trip with my buddy taking me to the ER in Atlanta…. Cut my finger with the Knafs Lander I picked up. Amazing knife.
Lo-o-o-o-ove the Begg Alligator
Weird thing to pick up on in the whole video but Welly bandaids are great!
You’ll really dig that TKell Pirahana. Been carrying it as my primary work knife about a year now.
Hey Taylor, love your videos. You are my first stop for all things EDC review and you have helped me pull the trigger on various EDC items. Some things I thought I would have no use for, turns out they are used quite a bit, which is mostly due to your videos convincing me to try things out. I do have a question, I carry the Civivi Brazen blacked out tanto. Love this knife but the thumb studs are a bit of an issue. It tends to catch on the lining of my fifth pocket when I pull it out. I wrote to Civivi to see if they had any ideas or options, but no luck. I ended up just removing the thumb studs to solve the issue but I would like to fill the hole with something super low profile. After seeing Pete's Pirate Life's new slip joint with the brass pins instead of the thumb nick, I think that would be a sweet option but I'm not sure how to pull that off. I thought I would see if you have any ideas. Thanks again for the great videos!
The Rockeye is sick, I've been looking for that exact configuration. Also had my eye on that exact version of the WE Vision R. Welcome to the dark side, black and brass/bronze.
I love the gator fixed blade, and the vosteed prototype fixed blade.
Nice group of knives. Great showing. Dig the instrumental
Great video
Been carrying my TKell Combatant for about 3 months now and I love it. Becoming my favorite fixed blade. I really want to get my hands on the Vero Synapse cause I love front flippers (sad there is hardly any new ones anymore), but I know I'll never catch it in stock. One thing that's kind of surprised me the last 5 years or so is seeing all these new knives, all these new knife makers, and still EVERYTHING goes out of stock instantly. If you're wanting to get into the industry, DO IT. The demand is there and the supply definitely isn't.
Love that T.Kell Piranha, there aren't many fixed blade knives convenient enough to EDC but that one looks very promising.
Epic pickups! That piranha looks dope.
I’m with you on preferring washers over bearings. Some of the fast bearing actions feel loose and I just can’t get a feel for where the blade is.
I didn't know you smoked a pipe. I can't recommend the Pocketjar and the Pocketjar Max enough.
Looking forward to the Vosteed fixed blade myself.
That Gunslinger Jack looks absolutely incredible. Added to my wish list for SURE
I luv my Frontier First in Koa. Sweet knife. Keep shining. Cheers
How the heck do you get that synapse to front flip!? You’re a magician. I’m holding mine right now and it’s literally impossible!
Great meeting you Taylor and I am glad you love the Gunslinger!
That sound!
@@mistold Glad you like it brother!
Dayuuum. What a haul!
I wanted the Vosteed Fixie bad! I love my AK1s, and like you said, it’s so similar. Definitely jealous of the prototype.
I checked out Rosecraft and was extremely impressed. The price points were super good and the quality was great. I also picked up a Focusworks F3 in titanium as my first high end flashlight and it has me itching for more.
Rosecraft was really the only stand out from this year, and he didnt even get any lol not expensive enough ig
the one most to my taste is that lt wright, ive been doing more camping, hiking, bushcraft stuff recently and little fixed blades really are starting to shine for me when im not concerned about carrying a folder
That glow rhino knife is sick. I hope I remember to pick it up when it releases.
I need me one of those Arcform Theorys. Looks so damn good. One day I will make it out to Blade Show.
Welly band aids are seriously on another level! No joke
Great video! Would you be able to share the overall length and blade stock thickness of the Vosteed fixed blade prototype? Thanks!
Hey, I’ve gotten a couple knives from Compliance edge. Would like to know your thoughts on them as well.
The black slip joint is badass and I really love the maverick idk what to think about the begg knives they’re not my style but I respect the opinion of metal complex nerves and you as well Taylor and the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive
Welly makes great bandages and excellent small first aid and travel kits
Just got my Tactile Co Maverick days ago. It feels great in hand. The shape and the weight of the titanium. The price is warranted and well worth it. Feels incredibly well built, both moving and non-moving parts are joined perfectly.
where at?
@@coreypetttit Directly from Tactile Knife Co.
I like that pipe tray! I love to fire up a decent aromatic in a corncob when I’m out camping.
The Frontier First looks an awful lot like the Brisa/Enzo Necker that I have owned and used for years and is significantly less expensive. I chose a scandi grind for my blade but you can get it in a flat grind like the L.T. You picked up. As you mentioned, my preferred mode of carry is as a neck knife.
Having your significant other start to understand your passion and show interest is great. She's a keeper!
Havent seen your videos lately....
U looking good brother..... nice video as always
Awesome lot of knives. I'm surprised to not see the axon fixed
Those are some great looking knifes
This little curator coins would be great to hold torx screws when disassembling knives and gear.
That Civivi Hypersonic... 🧡🧡 I need one now
Great score brother. All super cool but Id have to say the sea otter and that tkell definitely stand out.
BRILLIANT
Yooooo, nice gear
Question how did you break omega springs and which knife was it
What is the big fixed blade in the center of the start of your video. The center to the right
Hey Taylor, I know my question don’t go with the video but what tool you recommended me between the OKNIFE Otacle J1M and the OKNIFE Otool 2 Mini?
Your videos are great btw keep going with that dude💪🏽
Bro the Gunslinger Jack is a 100% pick up! It's SO DOPE
Glad you like it! 🤙
The piranha is sweet!
I got to get that custom sheath!!!!
Where did you get the brown vosteed mink?
T Kell Knives are putting out some amazing knives...
He’s legit as they come!
i was waiting
Favorites for me would be piranha and peanut
Do you know where I can get or pre order the big alligator knife I tried Chronos and begg and I couldn’t find it
Is there going to be a lefty option for the upcoming Vero fixed blade? I’m guessing no, but not entirely sure if I’m missing it.
Who makes that kydex clip, so you can carry a small fix blade in your pocket? I seen it in your other video but i dont think you said who sells or makes it.
Laulima dropped their clicky Hoku at Blade!!
The Crispy Donut Community Hanson was my favorite pickup
cool grab.
Bruh!?! You smoke a pipe sometimes? Now you got me listening! Show us if that hobby becomes part enough of your daily life for you to compile a piper EDC, that's a super interesting niche sub-genre of EDC! I struggled quite a while to find my best solution and ended up getting a metal box with compartments for filters, folded cleaners, tobacco and pipe tool. Making the pipe itself more EDC-able is quite a struggle however. Leather rolls don't protect it from stonger forces while hard cases turn me off due to the plastic. I ended up sewing a paracord-loop into my backpack onto which I sling my pipe so it doesn't roll with the other stuff on the bottom of my pack. Got any more elaborated suggestions?
PS hearing you got into pipe smoking tempts me to show you my favorite 5th pocket carry EDC: The lighter model "Bel" from brand "Rattray's" (unfortunately, I don't know about its availabilty in the U.S.). Cool vid, thanks for sharing!
I don't know for sure, but the Fermi could allude to Enrico Fermi, a physicist that came up with the Fermi Paradox. He sat down and did some "napkin math" (like we could do that off the top of our heads) and basically calculated if there are x amount of stars in the galaxy, based on what we've observed there are potentially BILLIONS of habitable planets in the Milky Way alone. The paradox more or less says, there should be at the VERY least, thousands of other colonized planets in our galaxy, yet we see nothing from anything or anyone that says "hey ppl here!" Basically, we should have seen other life by now if it exists. Supposedly it made him sad with the possibility that we are truly alone in the universe.
There have since been theories here and there that try to explain why we haven't yet, etc but, thought you might find that interesting!
35:53 that thing doesn't need just a sheath, it needs a whole ass scabbard
I sure do love your content. We have very similar taste, it’s nice to get a look at things I’m really in the market for.
Knife in pocket today is spydie chef.
Most recent purchase is a protech Malibu (still haven’t unboxed it).
im sorta new to edc and am on a tight budget but i got my first bench made the other day it was a bench made griptilian and im looking for a spyderco. suggestions?
Para3
The Superlock and Shark Lock are different mechanisms that were developed independently.
Both use a bar pushed forward by a spring, but the way they actually lock the blade is different.
The Superlock is also designed to be easier to disassemble/clean.
Demko and Snecx are two impressive craftsman and innovators. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them acknowledge each other’s work.
The Shark Lock I think is only found on Demko knives because it is a copyright. I don’t believe Snecx pursued a copyright for their Superlock and several companies have made their own versions. Some have given credit (WE/Civivi and Sandrin knives). A new knife collaboration made by Maserin and Sandrin won an award at blade show using Sandrin’s version of the lock. They’re calling it the “W Lock” I think, but I’m not sure if official credit is given to Snecx. I’ll have to check and come back to this.
Yeah, Sandrin got the nod of approval from Snecx, I believe.
okay here me out! we absolutey need a podcast, were you talk about knifes along with other EDC, drink, and smoke. ;)
Damn you got everything 😂
Cool stuff man! Im wondering if Benchmade’s marketing team just thought people would see the price tag on the Narrows and be like “well their other prices MUST be reasonable and fair because they’re way less than this” 😂 NOPE😂
What about the new Ti Pocket Knife from Big Idea Designs
Wish had the prices
I know I’m biased, but I don’t understand making an axis lock knife with only a right side clip. 22:30
Topo bandages come from William Collins. WC knives
Hope i am lucky tomorow to get me one of these Gunslingers. Think theyre will sell out fast
The best fixed blade edc is the Randall Made non-catalog GTR Special come on !
I thought you were trying to be more minimalist and intentional about acquiring stuff? No judgment. I like gear for real!
I lost my Ti Ultra fountain pen at a wedding about a month ago and I’ve been dying to get another ever since!
I understand not carrying the Aligator on an edc rotation, but man for a camp, combat, or survival knife Mr Dundee might have to step back !
Peter McKinnon at blade show.😂 awesome.
Fermi was an Italian scientist that, after migrating to the US, implemented the first nuclear reactor (in Chicago if memory serves me well) and had been instrumental to the creation of the Manhattan Project. He was a cool dude with an IQ probably above 5k... (there is even an element named after him)
If you get a chance to acquire an LT Wright Illuminous 5 do it.. You're not going to regret it.. best bushcraft knife.. 👍
Enrico Fermi was an Italian born physicist who built the first functional nuclear reactor. He’s often referred to as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb”
Ah, yeah, that rings a bell. Pretty sure they explained this to me at the booth. But information overload. lol
And i'm guessing they named it the Fermi is because tritium is radioactive.
There’s a large laboratory outside of Chicago named after him and it’s known for its huge particle accelerator and it’s work with fusion technology rather than the typical fission that we use for electricity.
Holy crap.... almost $600 for a flashlight. No way
Hey Taylor I have been seeing a trend where some EDC channels will ask AI to design the perfect EDC pocket dump for them. I know some people, myself included, are hesitant to use AI, but if you personally are not opposed to AI, I feel this could be a cool video idea.
Need a back pack update vid
Theory or the Matador?
Enrico Fermi was a nuclear physicist. Maybe that's why they put the tritium and named it that
Possibly it's because tritium is radioactive
@@michellehansen1563 yeah
Enrico Fermi was a rather famous physicist.
Fermilab in Illinois is named after him.
Hey man I don’t mean to be rude in any way but did you used to work at Best Buy I’m pretty sure you helped me pick out a iPad for my daughter a few years ago
Graduated Eagle Scouts or real life experience, both have their perks however except I for the majority of my life received little to no death threats. Had nearly everything I need. But just knowing that todays world has been consumed/changed drastically. One could rethink a fanny pack purchase with a buddy system/pair. Maybe chances of becoming under attack come with age. Most a needed was a flashlight for night walks/jogs while in the city.
Me and my wife introduced ourselves to Taylor at bladeshow. He was a complete jerk. He literally gave us a look as if we were idiots and why were we bothering him. His wife on the other hand was a sweetheart and we talked for a little bit while standing at the Big Idea design booth. I have often heard the phrase. It’s disappointing to meet your idols, and now I know the reference first hand. It was Sunday morning so I’m sure he was tired and I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt but it’s not like we wanted anything other than to say hello. That was the only weird engagement at the entire show, though everybody was so awesome to me and nice, I can’t wait to go back next year
Imagine what it’s like being as “famous” as him and trying to do a public event. I introduced myself to him and he was nice even though I could see everyone stopping him every two feet. I’m sorry you had that experience, but you may have made a quick judgement. Try putting yourself in his shoes.
I can assure you he definitely didn’t mean to come off that way! He was constantly being pulled in a million directions and wasn’t always sure where he was supposed to be at the moment. It was chaotic. But please don’t think he didn’t appreciate you saying hello…I can assure you he did! And it was nice talking with you both 😊
I hope Begg comes out with some in a different steel. D2 is great but not something I've had great luck with.
I like knives, but I don't think I'll ever understand collecting so many of them. At their core, they're all the same thing. I understand there are minor differences between them, but they're all knives at the end of the day. I actually just sold my Bugout because it felt cheap to me. Also, knives are only as sharp as you make them from sharpening them. My Boker Kalishnikov is razor sharp because I keep up with sharpening it. That doesn't change brand by brand. I think Benchmade and other expensive brands have done a good job convincing consumers that their products are worth 10x as much as many other brands. Good for them though. Take it to the bank!
Taylor, that Axe in your intro, where can one get that? I feel like I need that in my life!
It was from Blade Show. I don’t know anything about it
@@BestDamnEDC oh dang, that‘s too bad! I‘ll have a look around. Thank you though!
Enrico Fermi (Italian: [enˈriːko ˈfermi]; 29 September 1901 - 28 November 1954) was an Italian and later naturalized American physicist and the creator of the world's first nuclear reactor, the Chicago Pile-1. He has been called the "architect of the nuclear age"[1] and the "architect of the atomic bomb".[2
I was at blade show😊
Your getting into fixed blades and you didn't get a fixed blade Axon, that is interesting. That is the only knife dropped at Blade Show that I really want.
I got one well before the show
