I was at the Cadets first two shows. Both performances were great. This recording does not do it justice. And yes, this is their permanent uniforms this year. There is a video on DCI that explains the show and uniforms better. Sorry that some are distracted by the less traditional uniforms. Thanks for your comments.
Yea, I’ve over having people complain about the uniforms. They have a great show…obvious muddy sections that need cleaning, but that’s Cadets: this is not easy, and making perfection may take all season. Timing was improved over community day show, and double-tonging section sounded good live (I hear some issues after listening 5 or 6 times)
I've always loved the difficulty in their music books over the years -- they sacrifice a little accuracy to challenge the kids, which is something I think that doesn't get well rewarded or recognized these days in DCI. A couple of my favorite non-championship shows of theirs are "The Power of 10" (2015?) and "12.25" (?), both of which followed this level of difficulty and were performed well.
Jeff I thought the uniforms were the wrong choice. They could have gone with something that really made them look more polished. I thought the music was good but the props and the uniforms, not my favorite.
They have a great show this year. I do agree with what you said about the tuba positioning in the end chunk of the show. They def could move them closer to the yardline but im not the drill writer so it is what it is ig.
😂 I count the tubas, also. And snares. Love the music, props just seemed to be an afterthought. I marched as a drummer, so I liked how the drumline was featured 😊
Yeah. Sorry about that. I tried to make sure that I could be heard, but there were some spots where it was too loud. I will make sure I check that going forward. Thanks for watching!
I hope these are not the permanent uniforms for the year. They look like nurse aides and it’s something a corps would wear for a clinic and not a performance
I like the Cadets better than Crown. Crown’s show reminds me when Sky Ryders did Camelot. Two totally different shows, but I prefer less miked singing and electronics. To me, Crown has gone overboard with that.
After their amazing, very Cadets show last year I'm a little disappointed in this show. There's a lot of follow the leader in the drill that doesn't cover the field. Lots of members spending time pushing around the rather uninspired props. Of course I base this on only watching the show a couple of times. It may require repeated viewings.
You definitely nailed it, and to add to his comment about having to go read about what the show is... if you can't get the general idea of the show by watching it.... then it's the show really that effective? Cause I read the description and it's not really coming through on the field, even though it's early, I just don't see a storyline even
I enjoyed the musical book. The show theme, whatever it is, is irrelevant. The music is enjoyable on it's own. The props were pointless visual clutter. The closer drill was definitely pretty dirty.
I feel like the burgandy is not present enough on the costume. Looks to me like the white looks like if they were wearing pants to the armpit level (hoping you will get what i am trying to say) There are so many poles on the field that we can really see the guard work. Dislike the short and leggings costume for the entier corps. the guard is barely noticable on the field. Are they using white flags all the time because they didn't get all their material ??
Color guard - What are you guys doing for the first 2 and a 1/2 mins? HUH???? OMG, when the sound of the horns come in the silks DO NOT match the intensity of what I hear (min. 3:08). I am close to 5 mins into the show and I can't say I recognize the normally powerhouse guard. Those rifles sat in that circle all of that time only to resolve with a prop transition. I am beginning to wonder if the design team is writing with the intent of producing a Top 3 product. Cadets, right now you guys are sitting in 8th or 9th. Freaking get back to TRADITION. Sorry, scrape the uniform and April clearly has to have more of a role in rebuilding the guard.
The Cadets are an institution in drum and bugle corps. I enjoy and appreciate this year's show, which is more than I can say about many other corps.

it's important to remember that Flo uses a styrofoam cup and a string as a microphone, this recording sounds nothing like Cadets live
The show looks great and sounds great live, happy for one of my old band directors Marc Whitlock a music coordinator this season.

By far my favorite show this year, musically.

yea
Drinking game for how many times this guy uses the word “Nice” to describe anything.
As long as I get some "Nice"
Drum Corp 2023. Follow the leader, rolling on the ground and playing music no one understands.
😂 I count the tubas, also. And snares.
Love the music, props just seemed to be an afterthought.

I hope they add something to the props to make them more visually appealing. I have always counted the tubas and snares. Just a thing!
Please explain the function of all those poles on the field apparatuses.
Unessessry clutter that restricts the drill design.
They're gym clothes. Great show though.
Dig your input. Great show. Did u ever find out if that is the cadets permanent uniform for on the field this year? Yuk.
Yeah. That is their uniform. It was on their Facebook page.
One you boosted their audio it got really hard to hear what you were saying under the brass
Yeah. Sorry about that. I tried to make sure that I could be heard, but there were some spots where it was too loud. I will make sure I check that going forward. Thanks for watching!

Some of your comments are based on a poor recording in terms of the sound levels. Sounded much better live.
I bet it was better live. And the mix I am sure was better live. Thanks for appreciate it!

One thing's for sure though, their music is absolutely killer
