    Howdy! Had the pleasure of marching this show this year. This was by far the hardest show I have marched here out of the three years I march, not only because of the drill demand, but because of the choreography demand as well. Also played the cornet solo (super fun stuff) :)

    I felt that Atlas Rising was the most accessable show this year and possibly the crowd favorite from the 6 times I saw them perform it.
    I went to their community day on June 24 and they only had four short sections of music ready and almost no drill. Exactly 2 weeks later at CrownBeat they had a full show and sounded good. I was blown away at the advancements they had made.
    I look forward to a new era for The Cadets in their new home in Erie PA and think this is a good indicator of where they are going.

    5:00 YES! I agree, this uni exposes the marching big time!! I’ve been saying this since I saw their show in Broken Arrow. I seemed to just get sucked into watching their marching. Also, most of the season they had shorter socks, which for whatever reason felt like it Really really exposed all the good bad and the ugly with their marching. They added longer socks, which idk how, but it really helped to smooth out that issue for me, I wasn’t just constantly watching their marching! One other point, I forgot that Cadets lead out on the right foot in their marching style…I’m almost positive they’re the only corps that does that (?)

    I have a question for any marchers from 2022 or this past year. In both shows, there was one section where the hornline marched backwards onto their heels (at end of the ballad last year and during the Immortal ballad this year). Is that a meant to be an homage to Cadets slow-marching style from the past? Are there other Cadets visual homages present in those shows? I also saw the Garfield “G” near the end of the show.

    The double tonguing in movement II was clean. The phasing you thought you heard was either the poor dome acoustics or poor mic placement and quality from Flo. If you listen to this part in open air stadiums and in the lot it was almost always clean, especially late in the season.

    Sometimes I learn so much from you guys, about the current state of drum corps. And then there are times I couldn't disagree with you more. There was no There, there.
    Drum solo/Fanfare/drumsolo/hornshowoff/drumsolo/hornsoloballad/drumsolo/something/drumsolo/ending.
    I was never engaged with a story or a melody. Yeah, you read the description of some blah blah blah at the beginning that meant nothing. Yes, parts were very difficult, but what anything meant was meaningless. They checked a lot of boxes for the judges, and it was terribly apparent that that was what the show was. Box Checking.

      At first I was not a fan of these uniforms/costumes but there are parts of the show there is no way they could have done in their traditional uniforms with shakos. At 14:56 I couldn’t imagine doing somersaults in the wool uniforms with shakos.

    • @NightsShadow1
      @NightsShadow1 Год назад

      Hmmm. Not sure. When I watch classic Cadets like 2015 I often think that show could have been improved if they were not in traditional uniforms so they could fill all the dead space on the field with people doing somersaults.

      I was thinking the same. I would love to see them talk about shows like Phantom Regiment 1996 (One of the greatest chords in dci history) Phantom Regiment 2008, Vanguard 1999, Vanguard 2009, Madison Scouts 1996, 1997 (with imo the loudest crowd reaction to any show ever). Cadets 2000/2011, the Cavaliers shows between 2000-2003, with 2003 arguably having some of the most difficult drill in dci history. And can’t forget the 90’s Blue Devils- ‘96 ‘97 ‘99 ‘95 (a show that was way far ahead of its time).
