Excellent piece of equipment. I have been using these for many years and have no problems with control of the tractor DAF XF or Tiger tautliner trailer. New trailer three years ago and at 240,000km on UK roads tyres vary in depth from 8mm to 12m left at present. They do exactly what the video says and any company would be foolish not to take advantage of tyre and fuel savings.
It's a nice system when works. But when locking system failes.. It's pain in the ass reverse if tires won't lock straight. And tight places have to know upfront, can you drive straigt before start reversing.
Steering tag axles are a great idea, but the BS road designs of some locations need to be changed Trucking companies should get together and ban locations with bad engineering Forcing them to correct poorly engineered roadways and terminal destinations If they don't make roadways truck friendly those locations or banned from receiving freight ! ! ! In my region one community banned trucks from stopping if they are not unloading Truckers shut the community freight down for a couple months. The community had the freight transferred to small cube vans at high cost for delivery and some locations received no freight (^_^)
The most bpw axles are easy to maintain i'm allways lucky when i see its a bpw axles and i maintain a lot of axles in a truckworkshop. Its no wonder why they are the marketleader here in germany.
No... being a fully mechanical axle, if a second one would be installed the steering should be controlled (electronically and probably hydraulic) so the first one doesn't steer identically as the second one and in this case there would be a completely different technology mounted on the trailer which would make it more expensive than the savings made with this simple mechanical one which doesn't require any hydraulics or electric and electronic control... imagine two of them steering in a bend! The trailer would simply go sideways and not around the corner
This makes complete sense But lemme throw out a monkey wrench into it For starters in a case of an accident or swing does it have sway Seeing that it's fully mechanical could it be upfitted with a air ram to potentially prevent sway or to help accommodate a tighter turning circle
How it can be then in real life that on 3 axle boggie is middle axle wheels first going to change and not like their counting. BPW is best axle for me.
SFtruckerWolf BPW drum brake axles are unbeatable for reliability. When have had thousands of trailers over the years with no wheelbearing maintenance at all .A lot doing a million km at least. Never changed a cam bush either
These new type of trailers would be very expensive. As the profit margin is less in transport industry, especially in arab countries also the mechanics aren't smart enough to repair them, investing on this may not be feasible

Boa noite daqui de Portugal gostei espetácular parabéns muito profissional obrigado abraço Hélder Henoch
This technique will save the road from the rapid destruction, because the final axel wheels make a huge friction with the road especially at curves
BPW are the best standard axles by miles.
Wawww se jeant thanke you very match forever goode job 👍👍👍💪💪

Easy to maintain. Untill you hit a stuck Kingpin on a steering axle
Hoffentlich wird das bald Standard bei 3-Achs Aufliegern!!
"Undulating thrust plates"!!! .......sounds positively naughty
It's basically a bathroom stall door
Muhteşem bir sistem hemen seri üretime geçilmeli
Should have steering on both the first and third-(or last) axles to leave the middle or second axle to pivot about.
It must be too expensive to put in both axles

Wat about axle load difference in rigid and steer axle
Nice, if the company installs the 1st. steering axle, reduce the damage of tires because there isn't any tire resistence...
It is not anymore then going inside of law how trailer must turn.
this commercial is rather convincing.

The oil pump will need more energy permanently .

Why we don't have those nice accessories here in USA?
We do, have had them for years. Mostly used on tag, pusher axles on tow and dump trucks. Higher end trailers use them too.
Vive la llmagne
what about its off-road characteristics?
It's gonna wiggle around, like a shopping cart with a bad wheel
Why lock it in reverse?
10000÷1000000
= 0.01. . 1%
Jesus those roads are so much thinner than american roads.

In México we fix'em all the time.
Cut the nonsense... You guys are enough smart to bring down two skyscrapers, and you can't figure out how to repair a steering axle?
