#BruceDickinson #TheTower #TheChemicalWedding Renowned around the world as one of the greatest and most distinctive heavy metal vocalists of all time, Bruce Dickinson is best known as the lead singer of the iconic British band, Iron Maiden, who he joined in 1981 and who have sold well over 100 million albums. He has also become globally renowned as an author, pilot, broadcaster, brewer, businessman, sportsman, spoken-word performer, screenwriter and internationally successful solo artist.
His first solo album, Tattooed Millionaire, was released in May 1990, with its follow-up Balls To Picasso four years later (1994). It was on this second album that Dickinson first started working with guitarist Roy Z and despite a one album hiatus, he was joined again by him for all his subsequent solo studio albums - Accident Of Birth (1997), The Chemical Wedding (1998) and Tyranny Of Souls (2005).
Always on the back burner was a desire to create another solo musical project and in 2021 Dickinson finally had the opportunity to focus on that anew. He turned once more to Roy Z to work on some unfinished ideas together and that rapidly became his forthcoming seventh studio album: The Mandrake Project

It's crazy to think that Bruce put out two of the best metal albums of the 90s when heavy metal was a bad word in 97-98.

Not at all - Soundgarden and Alice In Chains were awesome and heavy too. And I'm sure that Bruce digs those bands.

The Chemical Wedding is one of my most favorite albums ever. There are so many gems on that record; the Tower definitely being one of the notables. This track still delivers so many years later.

This is one of my all time favorite albums - I'd go so far as to call it a perfect album, up there with Blackwater Park and The Sound of White Noise. More importantly, it was an absolute revelation for anyone coming from a strong Maiden background. Bruce's solo work isn't NWOBHM; it's straight up METAL metal, heavy as hell, and somehow even more theatrical vocally.
Such a breath of fresh air in the days of NuMetal.

HI. The album is 100% influenced by William Blake's life and work. Bruce hired a hotel room, left the world outside and filled its walls with his favourite Blake's works. This is how he wrote all the lyrics and some of the music together with Roy Z. (Dickinson's autobiography)

It's hard to pick one song from this album so I don't even try. I play the bass so I try to out do Rhino every chance I get. This is some of Bruce Dickinson's best work.

I never comprehend the fact that Adrian Smith NEVER gets the respect that he deserves. I know that he had the assistance of Roy Z on the solo albums, but Adrian is just in a different plane. AS far as Metal guitarists, the sheet he rolls out is beating the wind. And it's not just the fact that he can do it harder than anybody, he can put a reason to it at the same time. And make it beautiful.
Adrian is My Favorite Guitrast of Maiden.

Maiden's albums with Adrian Smith are in a higher level than others.
He's not fast like Malmsteen or Van Halen but he's very underrated because he's an extremely talented songwriter on guitar. He has an unmistakable feeling.

I remember when I was around 14 when I got a cassette of this album... I became an instant fan, I'm now 36.. Bruce and Iron Maiden will always be a part of of my music playlists.
I'm 41. When I got out of school that day, I walked straight to the local record store. We used to hang out there (like stereotypical metalhead teenagers), so the owner knew exactly what I was looking for.*
Accident of Birth was so damn good, that I didn't even think it was possible for a follow-up album to be BETTER. Suffice to say... Chemical Wedding totally raised the bar for me, in terms of how GREAT a metal album could be.
*I got the album on CD, though. I was probably done cassettes by, like, 1994. 🤘😜🤘

I attended "An Evening with Bruce Dickinson" last year and one of the questions submitted by the audience was if he had considered making another solo album. The simple answer was yes, but of course thinking about it and actually having one in the making are totally different things, but we can live in hope can't we?

Impressive. Seems to get back to metal roots where guitars and vocals are emphasized and drums and bass carry the song to where it needs to go. Love the backing vocals as well. Don't get to hear that as much on Maiden albums maybe because Bruce is such a strong singer already.

Coming across a newly published video by Bruce really had me wondering for a minute what this was all about. I’m a massive Maiden and Bruce solo fan. Chemical Wedding is simply one of the greatest metal albums ever, on par with Paranoid, Master Of Puppets and Reign In Blood. Incredible how different from Iron Maiden this is, yet still within the same headspace.
