That was one of my favorite dinners when I was growing up..I may use lean turkey to make this as I haven't had red meat in 45 years but I can smell the entire dinner and I'm hungry!!!Your so lovely Kevin..thank you.
Delicious steaks! This is one of my favorite meals. Thank you for showing us how you prepare your Salisbury steaks and gravy, AND for making this video! Great idea on how to freeze them as well. Thank you again! 😊💖🙏
Guess what Mr. Jacobs? Last night I made your Salisbury steak dinner for hubby and me and it was scrumptious! Yum! Thanks for the terrific recipe! Now I'm going to search your channel for another good one!😉
I love your style of cooking. I don’t live on the east coast; I live on the west coast, but it reminds me of the dinners offered at a restaurant in the Mission District in San Francisco called the “Blue Plate.” Thank you for sharing.
Annette I have never made this dinner. Thanks for making it so easy to understand the directions. I plan to make this for my family soon. You are so kind and special to watch you on line.
My school cafeteria served this in the 70's and I liked it then. I always loved the Cafeteria Aides! Can only imagine how good these would be to try it at home! Great to hear the history of Mr. Salisbury! Also, hello to Avery! 🐕
That looked like a wonderful meal. The amount of onions was important. I used to make this but only added one, or two onions. That third onion is important, I can see. There is nothing better than potatoes and gravy with Le Sueur Peas. Those peas are my favorites too. That brand is the only brand my Mom served, and then then only brand I serve, except of course in soups. How about asking Mr. Fox if he could do a taste test for us, after you serve the meal? Would he be willing? Thanks for showing your sweet dog. I love those shots. Nice video Kevin.
I have been craving these after watching the video a few weeks ago. I made them this weekend and although they were very good I cheated and used store bought mushroom gravy which was a little salty. I had very little salt in the meat, lots of pepper and I pulverized leftover croutons for the bread crumbs. I de-glazed the bits with the extra mushrooms and onions, added a little water to thin out the gravy and dilute the salt. That worked out well and I served them with brussel sprouts and left over mac and cheese. Wonderful hearty meal on a cold rainy afternoon. Simple, hearty, and delicious. Thank you for all of these videos and sharing your kindness and hospitality.
Thank you for this recipe. After making your roast potatoes 2x and the biscuits 2x... someone has gifted me your cookbook because you got me cooking tasty things. I'm hoping there are goodies from your videos in there.
Your delicious Salisbury steak brings to mind, yet another, childhood memory. I don’t know if you recall Bonanza or Ponderosa Steak Houses in the 60’s and 70’s. My family enjoyed dining there and my favorite menu item was the chopped steak with mushroom gravy. This is still a family favorite. I will definitely be making this in the near future.
This was absolutely FABULOUS!! I used Beyond Meat and couldn’t tell the difference between beef. You have to like onions and mushrooms, which we do. So we loved it. And it’s very easy too.
I do like the ideas of the gloves. And, lean meat, although I am not a big fan, has been found not to be the monster it has been portrayed to be. A well rounded, vegetable rich diet, using healthy fats and grains, including lean meat, has been found to be an acceptable choice. I just love this recipe.
When our son lived home this was one of his favorite meals. I haven't made it in years. Thank you for reminding of this delicious meal. I like your recipe.
That truly looks exquisite. I am sure it tastes heavenly. Such an easy dish so I am wondering why is forgot about it. I must say you make it look so easy.
One of my favorite meals! Looks delicious and will for sure try your receipe for the steaks :) Thank you for yet another fun and informative video! David
These look delicious, Kevin. I’ve never made Salisbury steaks before but these will definitely be tried soon. Thank you for your gentle cookery lessons.😊
As promised I made this. But my freezer is full so I cut the recipe to one pound. I got four very substantial steaks out of it. So delicious. I will definitely make them again. Thank you!
I just got a puppy ! He’s a chug ! Took a couple weeks to house train him. I’m back now ready to enjoy your wonderful cooking again. Now I have to go back and catch up on everything I missed. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
My husband is excited for us to try this one. He is the carnivore in this family. I may try Beyond Burger for myself but I want to try the beef for him first. Thanks so much again.
Well you have done it again Kevin 💕that meal looks scrumptious...I make mine similar to yours only I dredge my meat patties in flour then brown them 👩🍳 I never thought to add the onion and mushrooms as you have sooooooo.... I will be doing that the next time I make it. Thank you for another wonderfully comforting meal idea!🍾🥂
This dish was superb! I will add a little salt and pepper to the beef. It also took about 15 minutes longer to bring the meat temperature up to 160 degrees. I will also add a little more mushrooms as you suggested. All in all the dish was delicious! I’ll be making this again and again. Thanks Kevin!
Love everything about this recipe, Kevin, except the beef and eggs! Going to veganize it for my grandkids...and yes there is a vegan Worcestershire sauce. 😂 Love all your recipe ideas, Kevin....they always look so flavorful and you make cooking easy.
@@helen2061 It's really a sin to narrow someone's culinary experiences like this, there are better ways than completely stiffeling them and not allowing them to savor all of the wonderful cuisines of the world just because they include a meat. After all we ARE canivores, omnivores actually. I can't even imagine never being able to enjoy a nice steak, or chicken dinner, spaghetti and meatballs with Italian sausages, crispy bacon with my pancakes, or even just a humble hamburger! Thank you mom and dad!!!
I would have to make fresh or frozen peas. Canned peas are my least fav . And , silly me, I would call the gravy a sauce because I don't care for the word gravy. Definitely will make this. 🤗
Hi Kevin! I can't wait to make it, I always loved this dish, never thought I could do it. You make it so easy it looks delicious.....Thank you,I just made chicken picota it came out so good.......
You can substitute the bread crumbs with parmesan cheese in the can, and yes! Dr. Salisbury knew what he was talking about. 👍 BEEF, BACON, BUTTER and EGGS is the proper human diet. ❤ Also, ditch the cornstarch and flour, and use mascarpone or cream cheese to create that gravy😍
I HAVE to make this!!! Yummy!!! I wish I was there too to taste it and give AVERY some LOVE!!! 🐾💗🐾 Can you tell me about freezing them? Do you freeze the salisbury steaks separate from the gravy, onions and mushrooms? Thanks so much!
Hi Tina - Once the "steaks" and their mushroom/onion gravy have cooled to room temperature, I freeze them together in one or more glass freezer containers (Pyrex). Before reheating, I allow the dinner to thaw overnight in the fridge. Then I reheat in the microwave oven on "defrost" (30% power) for 8-10 minutes. This way, the dinner heats perfectly without becoming over-cooked. Hope this was helpful to you!
@@kevinleejacobs1364 Hi Kevin! Thank you so much for your reply! I love your recipes and the information you sent was definitely very helpful to me! Once I found the existence of the defrost setting on the microwave I have used it a lot since. It is a Godsend in the cooking world! LOL Thanks again!
