I think this episode is really nice because Varian is a kid after all and of course kids would have a simple mindset that people could forgive him, that everything would be right again, if only everyone forgets. What a kid doesn’t realise is that this is only a way to run from their mistakes. Things only start to go right when Varian became honest with Rapunzel, and was willing to take actions to solve what he’s caused. This idea about him having a kid’s mindset is especially clear when Lance erased his ‘facial hair’ and proves that he is still a child.
I think it would be interesting if Varian pretended to join forces with Cassandra later in the series but then helped defeat her with the element of surprise!
If A Villain Does Reform From Their Old Ways And Join The Good Side We Must Give Them A Chance Get To Know Them Better Forgive Them And Accept Them As A Friend As Well Because It's Part of Tradition In Friendship.
I like the Varian storyline however, it was developing naturally and when he came to his "redemtion" arc: He did it. He recognized his wrong doings, he recognized that he had to do better, even if he first did go the "maybe if everyone forgets" route. But that is something people should learn too. Taking responsibility and change. THEN someone deserves forgiveness.
I think Rapunzel destiny wasn’t at the dark kingdom. But it was a needed place. Rapunzel had to learn about the hurt incatation but she couldn’t control it because it was the opposite and she couldn’t fully control her hair. Cassandra betrayal really hurt her emotionally. You could say that Rapunzel finale touched her darkside. But she didn’t realize she was hating herself until Varian came into the picture again This allowed her to access her own hate. That sudden recovery is her being able to control the dark powers. Cassandra May thinks she’s breaking free but Rapunzel has beaten her again I think when the time comes varian will have to make a choice. But won’t because he loves Cassandra but doesn’t want to betrayal Rapunzel again. He will say something about combining and Rapunzel with sing the song of balance.
OK varian got his redemption , But his father still has a lot of explaining to do for example is History with Eugene’s father. Also we have a touch Upon if Cassandra and varian Get into a Relationship!
That’s illegal 😂(jk). Last time I checked varian was like 14 or 15. Cassandra is at least 2 years older than repunzel. Making Cass 20 or 21. Maybe 22 depending on how long after the movie this series stared at. But that’s a big age difference especially at that young of an age
@@Evening.Cicada Varien uses alchemy that opens a gateway into another dimension where he conveniently ages for 4 years before returning and his abs won't disappear on his return so it'll be alright to date Cass.
i was too happy that varian was FINALLY reunited with his father to be dissapointed about the note that doesn't have any groundbreaking revelation because then i remember that the fandom waited two years for this moment and that in the timeline of the show a year for this to happen.
I mean, her "unlimited kindness" isn't really that unlimited, considering she let him be thrown into a deadly storm and didn't check up on him at any point
When I first saw him, I was like: he's kinda cute. 😍 (I'm into shy nerds) When he turned bad out of anger: poor sweet baby! 😭 When he returned and redeemed: 😲😄😭
Anyone else notice that Varian was very unsure until he and Rapunzel were carrying the barrel? He looked so happy and relieved. Like he had found himself again
@@thatsroughbuddy8742 not that it was half-assed, moreso it was too late into the series tbh, they had no room for it left because they pushed it back so much so it didn't have room to breathe and felt rushed imo
I miss him as a villain tbh. He had a confidence that he doesn’t usually have. He’s now back to a shy boy (which I also love), but I liked seeing him so confident and determined as a villain. His redemption is so rushed and it makes me sad. They didn’t spend enough time showing him actually contemplating his actions. He was so bent on revenge the last time we saw him in season 1, and immediately is redeemed the next time he is shown! I know he wasn’t evil in the first place, but he was so convinced he was right that I feel like it would take more than that to redeem him.
What was Fredric thinking putting Varian in the same room with someone like Andrew? Honestly how is even still in charge? He put an entire country full of people in danger!
I was so happy when I saw the title of this video, I am unable to watch the show as it airs, it is like I get to watch all the best parts with awesome commentary!
“After everything hairstripe has done you’re going to trust him?” Eugene, I love you, but let’s face it, you’re not above giving someone a second chance.
I’d love to see an episode about how Varian is now treated (possibly as an outcast?) by the rest of the village, because I really don’t get the feeling they would’ve just forgiven him so quickly like Rapunzel.
This video is perfect.👌 I love Varian and I really hope that he will continue to be a part of the season. His redemption can go much farther with the towns people trusting him again and also helping Rapunzel stop Cassandra! He is one of my favorite character and Jeremy Jordan is amazing!! Thank you for this video!
THAT ARC MADE ME CRY, and plus... they did redemption fairly well, and that includes emphasis on putting the work in to fix the mistakes. I’m not saying Varian is redeemed just yet, nor is he a hero, but the fact that he wants to fix things, and knows what he did was wrong... he’ll probably get there. :)
You see, Varian is the reason why I think every villain has at least one of these: A REALLY good backstory, at least a little bit of good in them, or a good voice actor. Do note that I said at least ONE of these. I mean every villain has a good voice actor, or at least that I know of, but still
You analyzed his character so well, I was honestly expecting you to get it wrong but really you didn't and exactly got what happened in this kid's mind 💞💞
One of the most common criticisms I've heard about this show is that Varian's redemption worked, and Cass' didn't. Varian's descent into villainy was believable: he was a kid who longed for respect from his father, accidentally trapped his father in amber, was denied help, became a social outcast after he "attacked" Rapunzel, and did everything he did out of anger at being ignored when he needed help and out of desperation to save his father. He spends a whole season in prison, seems like he's still a villain once he gets out... only to reveal that he regrets his actions and wants to make things right. The series even shows that people were mad at him for a while (he did take the kingdom hostage, after all) and that he had to work to gain their trust again. Cassandra, partially due to her redemption happening at the very end of the series, didn't have that. Her descent into villainy was believable (years of pent-up frustration paired with being manipulated by a demon), but she spent almost a year as a virtual terrorist, and despite showing remorse for her actions she never really had to work for it. TL;DR Varian is an example of a good redeemed villain, Cassandra is not.
when he said that they promised nobody would be hurt, that feels super important to me. that’s another indicator that he didn’t want anybody to be hurt. he just wanted help, he wanted to be forgiven, or at least he wanted to feel like people had forgiven him. we aren’t shown he has any other relations prior to rapunzel and the gang besides quiran, so that makes me think he never really had friends, so that’s why he wanted them to forget.
I actually wrote a fan fiction series. Varian isn’t the main character but he is in the series. In episode 13 Rapunzel and her friends fight against an alchemist. In episode 14 that same alchemist attacks Rapunzel and her friends. This time Varian is there. It turns out he used to be friends with the alchemist but they hadn’t really talked since before the events of Tangled The Series. Other than that it’s possible he really didn’t have friends besides Rapunzel, Cassandra, and Eugene. I don’t know if you actually care but here’s the link: ruclips.net/p/PLsrsSmSpjKg8luE1puft5kqq6am9oJL4e
Tbh, I would go nuts if someone not only refused to help me save my parents if something like this happened to them, but also got me dragged out by the gaurds! 😭
I personally think it’s hilarious that a 15 year old, naive boy kidnapped the queen, single handedly (almost) destroyed Corona, and with a bit of help kidnapped Repunzel. I mean, he’s 15
Literally what made me want to watch this show was hearing the song Ready As I’ll Ever Be. Episode 1, thought Varion was the cutest thing, wanted more of him. So like half way through season 1 when I realized he was going to be in it more, I went and downloaded the soundtrack and listens to that song again and immediately recognized who was singing it. I was a bit sad that I spoiled it for myself, but I was also so freaking excited to get to that point. I freaked out when the beginning notes of that song started playing in the show, it’s such a good song in my opinion. I am a bit disappointed that he wasn’t really in season 2, but I get it, and then he was redeemed in like 1 episode at the beginning of season 3. But I love him! Definitely my favorite character. And I’m happy that he’s ok now. That latest episode about the fear rocks was also really good.
Imagine being a villain at 14 and knowing you’ve made these horrible mistakes; feeling like no one will ever forgive you. And having someone you trusted not be there at your darkest moments. Also, did anyone else notice that Varian didn’t have any friends? He had a pet raccoon, but other then that, he seemed pretty lonely. And even before he became evil, there were rumors that Varian was dangerous, which probably made it harder for him to make friends. So imagine one of the only people you know as a friend and you trust, just feels like they betray you. I don’t really consider Varian a villain. More of just someone who was going through something who really didn’t really realize what he was doing, and when he did, he feared no one would forgive him.
He might have at least had one friend. He does in the fan fiction I wrote. When Varian tells the main characters about his friend he mentions they hadn’t talked in a while and how his friend has no idea that he became a villain. ruclips.net/p/PLsrsSmSpjKg8luE1puft5kqq6am9oJL4e
At 8:44 that note says way more than just “I’m so proud of you Varian, I always have been.” That says something more, I hope it has something to do with Varians mother and how she died or disappeared or whatever.

I was so happy that Varian had decided to open up and stand up to Andrew. I was very worried that he'd still wanted to hurt Rapunzel for turning her back on him. But I'm so glad that Rapunzel was able to snap him out of his rage towards her and was able to get him back on her side again. I was even more elated when Quirin and Varian were finally reunited after nearly two years of being encased inside that amber. I can't wait to see what happens between Rapunzel and Varian now now that they're finally friends again.
It says how innocent Varian truly is when you notice his idea of an evil scientist-character is a big overcoat, a pirate-bandana, and a barcode scribble on his chin 😂😂😂

He tried to crush Cassandra and Queen Arianna
This is why I admire Varian, 🙂 he's a good character, then goes evil, but then redeems himself again.❤️ I'm glad he redeems himself.
Cassandra May thinks she’s breaking free but Rapunzel has beaten her again
I think when the time comes varian will have to make a choice. But won’t because he loves Cassandra but doesn’t want to betrayal Rapunzel again. He will say something about combining and Rapunzel with sing the song of balance.
eddog6666 If I still Ship him with Cassandra depends on what happens going forward. But I slightly agree
I'm sorry but, isn't cassandra like 23 and Varian 14?? I thought he saw her like his cool big sister that he just wants to impress,,
@@expiredmilk794 nah, they've made it pretty clear that he has a crush...but she is too old for him. He's a whole baby.
Had a crush he doesn’t have it anymore
ILoveJapan28A I wish he did
So glad Varian is back I missed him
OK varian got his redemption , But his father still has a lot of explaining to do for example is History with Eugene’s father. Also we have a touch Upon if Cassandra and varian Get into a Relationship!
Michael Brent nope
Hate to break it to you
Michael Brent what can of a relationship
That’s illegal 😂(jk). Last time I checked varian was like 14 or 15. Cassandra is at least 2 years older than repunzel. Making Cass 20 or 21. Maybe 22 depending on how long after the movie this series stared at. But that’s a big age difference especially at that young of an age
@@Evening.Cicada Varien uses alchemy that opens a gateway into another dimension where he conveniently ages for 4 years before returning and his abs won't disappear on his return so it'll be alright to date Cass.
Varian is like 13 or 14, Cassandra is 22-23. My girl is a lot of bad things, but pedophile isnt one of them.
i was too happy that varian was FINALLY reunited with his father to be dissapointed about the note that doesn't have any groundbreaking revelation because then i remember that the fandom waited two years for this moment and that in the timeline of the show a year for this to happen.
Sarah.c Braham And So was I for both. But I’m hoping the note will change a few things.
You know Varian is truly not an ordinary kid when pretty the whole kingdom has to work together to take a 14 year old down
Yes
I swear to god, when Lance smudged Varian's "beard" I almost choked laughing
Same 😂😂😂😂
Facts (in my opinion):
Varian probably has best starting redemption villain arc that I have seen from ANY movie in awhile!
10/10!
I mean, her "unlimited kindness" isn't really that unlimited, considering she let him be thrown into a deadly storm and didn't check up on him at any point
When I first saw him, I was like: he's kinda cute. 😍 (I'm into shy nerds)
When he turned bad out of anger: poor sweet baby! 😭
When he returned and redeemed: 😲😄😭
I related to him on another level, so it was nice to see them portray a character like that. I also have a HUGE crush on him.
Later a change of heart
*i only like fictional science nerds with black hair messier than their mood swings*
@@IuminaIyte in season three he had a change of heart
Villan or not, I love Varian through and through.
"After All This Time..."
We have Varian again :)
Anyone else notice that Varian was very unsure until he and Rapunzel were carrying the barrel? He looked so happy and relieved. Like he had found himself again
Last time I was this early, Gothel still found out about the prince because Rapunzel was yapping about how much lighter he is than Gothel.
You forgot to mention that she was also pregnant by the prince

You were right
She did in the last episode in season 3
No, she didn’t. They tried, but it was half-assed and awfully done.
@@thatsroughbuddy8742 not that it was half-assed, moreso it was too late into the series tbh, they had no room for it left because they pushed it back so much so it didn't have room to breathe and felt rushed imo

I almost teared up at his dad saying he is proud of him, cause thats all any boy wants to hear from their dad.
Oh My Disney! Varian! Welcome back!🎉 I love it!💕 Thank you so much, I enjoy your videos! 😄
Because he’s part of the royal bloodline, that’s how!
No, but seriously, that’s the only possible way.
@@goodnight-moon564 Wut...
I'd like to speak with the guy who thought of the '' brilliant '' idea TO PUT VARIAN AND ANDREW IN THE SAME CELL!!!

Nigel. Probably, but I’m almost 99% sure it’s him
I was so happy when I saw the title of this video, I am unable to watch the show as it airs, it is like I get to watch all the best parts with awesome commentary!
“After everything hairstripe has done you’re going to trust him?”
Eugene, I love you, but let’s face it, you’re not above giving someone a second chance.
Omg two tangled videos in two days this is amazing! and love the channel issac 💙💙💙
Gotta admit it
Varian
Is
ADORABLE
I'm just taking a moment to appreciate Varian's chin hair every second it's on screen
Ummm he just drew them on his chin
at least varian is brought back to the light.
I’d love to see an episode about how Varian is now treated (possibly as an outcast?) by the rest of the village, because I really don’t get the feeling they would’ve just forgiven him so quickly like Rapunzel.
And now we have "Be Very Afraid". :)
Not gonna lie, I cried when he was redeemed and got his dad back ;)
I AM SO GLAD HES BEEN REDEEMED AND HES BACK OH NY GOD HE MY FAVORITE IM SO HAPPY
i'm so happy for the Kid!! I love varian!!
I'm very glad Varian was redeemed, I always thought he was a good character, and I hope he decides to go with Rapunzel on her journey.
And he did
Yes
This video is perfect.👌 I love Varian and I really hope that he will continue to be a part of the season. His redemption can go much farther with the towns people trusting him again and also helping Rapunzel stop Cassandra! He is one of my favorite character and Jeremy Jordan is amazing!! Thank you for this video!
A Wotso vid on Wednesday? YES!

Avery the Cuban-American HEY! I've seen you on It's a southern thing! You watch this too!
I was waiting for varian to ask where Cassandra was, also I think varian learned not to cross Rapunzel (again) after seeing her new power.
You see, Varian is the reason why I think every villain has at least one of these: A REALLY good backstory, at least a little bit of good in them, or a good voice actor.
Do note that I said at least ONE of these. I mean every villain has a good voice actor, or at least that I know of, but still
I was waiting for this. 😆
MY BABY!!! (Varian not Isacc)
I wonder if he was ever really ready as he’ll ever be?
If that's an intended pun then good for bringing a reference to a very good and catchy song
I am SO glad that Varian isn't evil anymore! It broke my heart when that happened!
Tbh, I would go nuts if someone not only refused to help me save my parents if something like this happened to them, but also got me dragged out by the gaurds! 😭
Do Dipper and Mabel Pine's Full Story.
I personally think it’s hilarious that a 15 year old, naive boy kidnapped the queen, single handedly (almost) destroyed Corona, and with a bit of help kidnapped Repunzel.
I mean, he’s 15
14, but agreed
Agree
I knew he would be redeemed before the show ended. I’m glad. Thank you Isaac!
Agree
He might have at least had one friend. He does in the fan fiction I wrote. When Varian tells the main characters about his friend he mentions they hadn’t talked in a while and how his friend has no idea that he became a villain. ruclips.net/p/PLsrsSmSpjKg8luE1puft5kqq6am9oJL4e
At 8:44 that note says way more than just “I’m so proud of you Varian, I always have been.” That says something more, I hope it has something to do with Varians mother and how she died or disappeared or whatever.
According to a recent interview, it talked about the Moonstone and Brotherhood, things Rapunzel found out in season 2 and so they didn't have him hear what it really said, and instead what he needed to hear at that moment.
Honestly, Varian was never a bad kid.
Agree
A video on a Wednesday, AND it's about Varian? Awesome!!!!!!!
Tangled was a Moral grey area from the start.
They stole her medicine she needed to live.
Oh but rather then the gift she horded it for her self.
But turns out so did they they. They had some of the flower all along .
And if Gothell had a child she would Alone anyway. At Ali their still be hope of seeing Eachother.
Maybe Gothell Delibratly lead Cassandra's Biological Father to her.
Oh yeah Isaac called Her mother. But. I call the captain of the guards is Cassandra's father . But hay that's just my theory
wh
it wasn't her medicine lmao
Varian was never really a bad guy, and I love that he got redeemed! In my opinion, he should've kept the new look, it was a great look on him.
I can't wait to see what happens between Rapunzel and Varian now now that they're finally friends again.
kkstar 12 And so am I
Where have you been? I haven't heard from you in a while.
I just wished they didn’t act like corona didn’t treat Varian bad they were mean to him cause of that rumor I want this pointed out

Well thank god it's all over now. They're starting fresh again.
It says how innocent Varian truly is when you notice his idea of an evil scientist-character is a big overcoat, a pirate-bandana, and a barcode scribble on his chin 😂😂😂

Varian's redemption arc in episode one was a sight to behold. I do hope there are flashback episodes dealing with his time in prison though.
I'm glad there was not though
