The reason for this is actually really sad. Walt Disney wanted to repay his parents for encouraging his creativity while they lived a poor life in his childhood by buying them a large house. However, they died due to a gas leak within the house and Walt Disney blamed himself for it immensely. The decision for this was also made to help children deal with loss of a family member or a friend.

For me, Eugene's origin was the true plot twist. Cass' betrayal, saw it coming since the episode "The great tree", but THAT bit about our sweet thief... Totally amazed me. Respect to those who could theorize about it since the beginning, I couldn't never see that one coming!
They are called the brotherhood, which includes Quirin. And Hector called Adira "sister." All four should be related then, which then includes Varian and Eugene. Maybe.
Eugene could of totally been raised by the guy instead of being dumped at some orphanage! I would have loved seeing Eugene being a big brother to Varian, reading him Rider books!

Rapunzel and Eugene really are meant to be together. This connection of Eugene past orgins with Rapunzel's sundrop powers solidifys their love and bond even more. They certainly are the best disney couple.

I thought this was just amazing. Unlike a lot of Disney love interests, I never felt like I needed MORE from Eugene. I never felt like he was actively ridiculed or that he had to prove himself as the perfect guy. So, of course, I just assumed that nothing could get better. But this storyline only makes it just better! These writers are amazing, they managed to elevate all of the existing characters.
it balances, who would've thought the princess of the light kingdom (Corona) would fall in love with the prince of the dark kingdom omg this is amazing
I could see that Eugene was a Royal even after watching Tangled. It was the way he was presented and the features he had, from the structure of his face to how he dressed. I just didn't know what kingdom he was from until now
Hey, do you have any ideas about what did Varian's father wrote in his letter to Varian? I hope that writers of the show won't forget about this letter (and Varian of course)
@@IsaacCarlson Well there are supposed to be 78 episodes for this series and they are up to 42 so I'm guessing there's going to be 36 episodes in season 3, so I'm guessing they are going to unravel all the other mysteries that are in this series right now in season 3.
qurrin might not have know that eugene was King Edmund's son but i do have a hunch that adira does since she told rapunzel that eugene was alright when he fell down along with King Edmund (in Disguise)
Rapunzel is the lost princess, Eugene is the lost prince. Rapunzel's mother was saved by the sun drop, Eugene's mother was killed by the moonstone. So similar, yet so different. *So close...Yet so far.*
I am just glad he got a back story, it broke my mama heart every time to think that someone just left him. I think it’s neat they showed that side of Eugene though; having raw feelings and processing them. It really leads as an example to children that things will come and go and they come with big feelings and emotions, but you can process them in healthy ways.
That's how you know Rapunzel and Eugene are made for each other. They both found out their royalty. Rapunzel is connected to the sun drop and Eugene is descendants from the dark Kingdom so they can neutralize each other. My favorite Disney couple ever
I'd just like to say, that after watching the season 2 finale, this is the analysis I was waiting for. For the series, I'd love to see flashbacks of the Dark Kingdom that include the Queen (Eugene's Mom), she shouldn't remain nameless. I do love how they hinted at this and developed this beautiful origin story for Eugene. They've created so many parallels between Eugene and Rapunzel that it just makes them even more perfect for each other.
Honestly the best plot twist of the series IMO. Yes, Cass being Gothel’s child was surprising but this was such a sweet and shocking reveal. He may have been a thief but in every other sense he was the perfect prince to Raps.
Is it me or is it a coincidence that Rapunzel is from the "light" kingdom where the "healing flower" was and Eugene is from the "dark kingdom" where there is "destruction"
I have a head canon going, a theory. After Santiri heard of the Moon Opal and Sun Drop, and sent his 3 followers out to find them, the Sorceress Gothel (She's obviously the third unrevealed silhouette you see when Santiri sends his followers out) cleverly decides to use the rejuvenating effects of the Sun Drop to extend her life and give her all the time she needs to find the Moon Opal to bring it to Santiri. She's successful in finding the Sun Drop, via the flower, and uses it time and time again to prolong her life so she can continue the search for the Moon Opal. However, when she discovers that the Sun Drop Flower has been taken to heal the Queen of Corona, and that the Queen's baby girl was born with long golden hair, she knows that the Sun Drop's power was transferred into the princess. She then uses her magical skills to woo the Chief of the Royal Guard in order to get close to the King and Queen and ultimately the baby girl (Princess Rapunzel). Sometime during this process she bears a child, a daughter (Cassandra). However, having only want for the power of the Sun Drop, she quickly abandon's Cassandra and when discovering that she can't simply cut off and use Rapunzel's hair, steals baby Rapunzel away and the events of Tangled take place. Whenever Gothel leaves the tower, she is, in fact, continuing her search for the Moon Opal. However, by the events of the movie, her dependence on the Sun Drop's power has become that of it's very power keeping her alive. If she goes too long without using those powers, she'll die. It's not specified how long she's been using these powers before stealing Rapunzel away, but it's obviously implied that it's been far longer than that of her natural lifespan, perhaps even decades or centuries. So she has a limited amount of time she can search before having to return to the tower and use the Sun Drop's (Rapunzel's) powers. Meanwhile, Cassandra grows up, never really knowing her mother, and always being overprotected by her father because he probably fears that she too will run off and never come back. Cassandra is left feeling unfulfilled, always in the shadows, always the person who does the work while others get the recognition, always being held back from what she feels is her full potential. She tries to prove herself time and time again, only for Rapunzel to foil her every single time. Eventually, she grows more and more distant as her resentment toward Rapunzel grows, and they all leave to follow the rocks into the Dark Kingdom. Santiri, from wherever he is, manipulates things in order for that House of Yesterday's Tomorrows to appear at just the right place with another of his loyal followers in charge of it, and as Rapunzel and gang fight back and begin to win, Santiri makes that door appear at just the right time in front of Cassandra. In order to lead her inside of it and into his realm, he uses a likeness of Gothel to call to her. This fake "Gothel" (who is actually Santiri) then says that she is Cassandra's mother, that Rapunzel was the reason she had to run away, that she had to hide the power of the Sun Drop to protect the world, and Rapunzel had rebelled and killed her and that it Cassandra's "destiny" to avenge her death by killing Rapunzel. That the only way she could do this was through the power of the Moon Opal. What do you think?
I know Cassandra took the Moonstone thinking she was fulfilling her destiny, but wouldn't it be crazy if something happened that caused the Moonstone inside Cassandra to go completely out of control and take her over. After a long battle everyone felt the only way to stop it was to kill Cassandra. But Eugene steps up and manages somehow to take the Moonstone from Cassandra and put it in himself. the Moonstone then claims Eugene as its holder, it's Guardian giving him its power but not take him over. Thus making Rapunzel the princess of light, and Eugene the Prince of Darkness. A yin and yang scenario where together, they are able to bring complete balance to the world.
I love this development. It really reflects the stories and legends of the sun and the moon who were lovers. It's destiny that Rapunzel, possessing the Sundrop and Eugene coming from the line of the Moondrop protectors come together. The sun can nullify the moon, Rapunzel can stop Eugene's pain.
This theory is amazing.i haven’t watched the series yet, only the first ep and a few songs/clips.Im glad eugene finally found his origin, but I feel as though he feels more lost now than he ever did.
Me too, I only watched the movie and the that short film where blondy and wrong nose got married lol. I only watched the fist ep. And a few songs too hehe
Who else almost cried during the song? Zachary Levi has such an amazing voice when it comes to acting, the song conveyed everything so well. I'm glad we get to see Eugene get all this development in the series, when I saw Tangled when I was little I was obsessed and he was my favorite Disney prince.
I've been watching clips of this show here and there and lowkey, I wish that Disney had fully fleshed out the arc of the characters from the beginning from Tangled into Tangled Before Ever After and THEN released Tangled Ever After. I think that the eventual wedding at the end would have been more interesting (and also the plot convenience of Cassandra not being at the wedding) - such as maybe seeing Eugene in a dark navy uniform representative of the Moonstone to contrast Princess Rapunzel as the Sundrop - The Lost Prince and The Lost Princess. I think it would've been a nice touch to add to the culmination of their arcs.
Yeah, I wish he’d been wearing dark colors and a moon symbol at the wedding to represent his homeland. Besides, he looks better in darker colors (not that he doesn’t ALWAYS look good).
Thing is in the original Grim brothers' version, Rapunzel wasn't even a princess, the royal in the fairytale is actually the prince, the throne's heir of the nearest kingdom, who finds Rapunzel through her melodious voice in the tower. Making him a prince not only makes him the perfect match for our new royal, but also becomes even more faithful to the original story. Oh damn I just love his back story comeback.
It actually seems to make sense especially since repunzel was the lost princess, it only made sense that he was the lost prince of the dark kingdom especially since repunzel and Eugene are opposites of each other that they both are drawn to two different entities of the moon drop and sun drop of two kingdoms. This is basically the ying and yang if you think about it and to show how opposites attract.
I knew it the moment Demanitus told them that Eugene is the moon for Raps' sun. She obviously is only able to perform that nuclear blast with her hair in his presence. So it wasn't exactly a big surprise in the last episode.
Well, I guess this means none of Frederick's nobles or councilors can object to Eugene marrying Rapunzel now, what with him being of royal birth and all.
They wouldn't even tried to stop Eugene and Rapunzel marriage even if he didn't end up being the dark prince. I don't think Rapunzel would let her dad to that but nice try tho😂
I find it interesting that Eugene is the prince of the Dark Kingdom and Rapunzel is the princess of Corona, of which the symbol is a sun, making her basically the princess of the Light Kingdom.
Wow. You almost had me to tears in the end especially adding the background music to Eugene's solo. You really *do* bring magic in your words. Beautifully said 💜
It is kinda strange that eugene is royalty, but it's kinda poetic how the prince of a kingdom revolving around the moonstone is in love with the girl holding the sundrop.
This is so cute, Rapunzel was the lost princess and Eugene is the list prince. They are meant for each other. @alize0623 Yup like Demanitus said, "The moon can not be seen without the suns light." It makes me wonder if Demantius knew that Eugene was the Prince of the Dark Kingdom all along.
With Eugenes story revealed, Rapunzel and Eugene would be a perfect couple, the sun created the flower along with the moonstone, Eugenes mother died from the moonstone while with the flower Rapunzels mother was cured from the sickness and still alive, Rapuzel was born along with Eugene, and had a dramatic story, I should call this the sun and moon couple.

I don’t know if anyone thought about this but what are Rapunzel and Eugene kid(s) going to be like . Since Eugene is the prince of the moonstone and Rapunzel is the princess of the sundrop flower
They should make a movie mainly about a Prince and you might say "Well we have Aladdin" but he isn't a Prince/Sultan until he marries Jasmin so I think a movie focused on a Prince would be cool.

In the end of the Tangled The Series, Rapunzel accepted the proposal to marry Eugene/Horace, the prince of Dark Kingdom and the Captain of the Corona Guards. So, since this happened, a unification maybe possible once the King of Dark Kingdom dies in which all the inheritance passed to the Prince of Dark Kingdom itself and became King in the two lands and also Rapunzel became Queen on both lands.

I don't think they would include anything as big as that without resolving it. Season three has a lot to explain.
@@IsaacCarlson Well there are supposed to be 78 episodes for this series and they are up to 42 so I'm guessing there's going to be 36 episodes in season 3, so I'm guessing they are going to unravel all the other mysteries that are in this series right now in season 3.

I was so shocked and I thought that King Edmund was a bad guy since Hector was. I wonder why Adira or Qurrin never told Eugene.
qurrin might not have know that eugene was King Edmund's son but i do have a hunch that adira does since she told rapunzel that eugene was alright when he fell down along with King Edmund (in Disguise)
Tess B. Lichtman but I’m sure they saw all the wanted posters...
Quirin knew he took him to Corona with him
Rapunzel is the lost princess, Eugene is the lost prince.
Ironically the lost prince of the dark kingdom and the lost princess of Corona found each other.
That's how you know Rapunzel and Eugene are made for each other. They both found out their royalty. Rapunzel is connected to the sun drop and Eugene is descendants from the dark Kingdom so they can neutralize each other. My favorite Disney couple ever
Issac: tell me what you wanna you know about the tangled series!
Me: yes
Had a big laugh at Lance's reaction. "You finally got adopted!"
I know right it truly makes them soulmates.
Please do a full video on the Moonstone and the Sun Drop
Honestly the best plot twist of the series IMO. Yes, Cass being Gothel’s child was surprising but this was such a sweet and shocking reveal. He may have been a thief but in every other sense he was the perfect prince to Raps.
YESSSS
Is it me or is it a coincidence that Rapunzel is from the "light" kingdom where the "healing flower" was and Eugene is from the "dark kingdom" where there is "destruction"
Like Ladybug and cat noir 😂
@@merlin88888 I never seen it that way but yeah u are right
I still like the idea Flynn's parents are swash-bucklers than actual King and Queen.

i can't accept his parents being royals. I don't consider the serie canon. What about you?
This is awesome
@@lasalettesagum1433 yes
Eugene is my favorite character, and I'm glad to see him get some character development other than love interest/comedy relief.
Rapunzel the lost princess of krona
Eugene the lost prince off the dark kingdom
Those two have more In common then we even thought 🤯🥳🥰
I love this development. It really reflects the stories and legends of the sun and the moon who were lovers. It's destiny that Rapunzel, possessing the Sundrop and Eugene coming from the line of the Moondrop protectors come together. The sun can nullify the moon, Rapunzel can stop Eugene's pain.
This just makes me love Eugene even more
This theory is amazing.i haven’t watched the series yet, only the first ep and a few songs/clips.Im glad eugene finally found his origin, but I feel as though he feels more lost now than he ever did.
You really should watch the whole series man, its good
@@Fisinocean ik I should
Me too, I only watched the movie and the that short film where blondy and wrong nose got married lol.
It really is a coincidence that both Eugene and Rapunzel are the lost princess of the sundrop and the lost prince of the moonstone!!!!

Wait, it’s canon that Eugene was the long lost Dark Prince!?
You just couldn’t resist, Disney!

I was so shocked when this happens that he turn out to be a lost Prince Eugene in Norway arrendale he had two friends one is Kristoff and two is Lance since Kristoff and his reindeer friends sevan ran off to be an Ice Harvest after he was adopted by a trolls while Eugene and Lance ran away to travel the world to become a legendary Thief and then we go straight to the first movie of Eugene found the tower and meets Rapunzel and then go straight to season 1 and 2 of the TV series that's where they reach the second Tangled where Eugene found out that the Dark kingdom King was his father ! what an amazing journey we have.
Disney just couldn't let a princess marry an ordinary thief , could they ? So they made him a prince. Stereotypes -_-
I love Eugene so much , he had the best character development ever , he didn't need to be a prince , since he's already the thief who stole our hearts 😍
But I do love how the plot of this story evolving. Can't wait for the next episodes 😫
Agree why couldn't they just let him be himself🤷♀️ as if him being the lost prince made him more important. We all loved him as the thief who saved the lost princess.
Instead of 'I am your father', they put 'You are my son'. Good call, Disney.
When ppl are listening to him I'm lookin at the Kermit in the background
Disney logic : once there's a saved mom ,there's always a dead mom
Another amazing video! ❤️ I hoped Eugene would continue to discover himself alongside Rapunzel on their journey to the Dark Kingdom--and he did! ❤️❤️❤️
I agree with everything you said, and I cannot wait to see what else happens!
But what about the wedding? It has to make a plot that somewhat corresponds with Eugene's and Rapunzel's wedding.

Yeah I know, I kind of wanted moonstone varian to happen but
In the end of the Tangled The Series, Rapunzel accepted the proposal to marry Eugene/Horace, the prince of Dark Kingdom and the Captain of the Corona Guards. So, since this happened, a unification maybe possible once the King of Dark Kingdom dies in which all the inheritance passed to the Prince of Dark Kingdom itself and became King in the two lands and also Rapunzel became Queen on both lands.
Is that why Vigor was so focused on Eugene?
Christine Huang Most likely. And he probably got a kick out of freaking Eugene out as a bonus.
i read somewhere that the suffix "herbert" was used in medieval germany to refer to the bastard children of royals, so it's even more canon
Eugene isn't a bastard child though both his parents were married and a bastard child is someone whose parents aren't married.
I know he technically isn't, but it was a cool fact that partially foreshadowed it
