Eugene calling the King out for locking Rapunzel away in her room was just literally everything. After all he DIED so Rapunzel could be free of course he'd have something to say about THAT.
The truth of it is the similarities are there but Gothel was doing it for selfish reasons where Rapunzel's father was doing it because he genuinely loved her. However though that does set him apart from Gothel he should have realized that if you truly love something you have to let it go free sometimes.
He's a good dad.❤ I think if he had a long moment to explain everything and if Rapunzel took a moment to listen to those around her that love her, then maybe she wouldn't be endangering herself. Also, I never knew her to be so fiery. I though she was always gentle and understanding, until she finds out what Gothal did. I guess she's just paranoid. I don't know what she thinks she knows honestly, b'coz Frederick is a wise king, Gothal is just a woman who could care less.😕 I personally would see the clear difference and know what's right,😊 but that's just me.
He's still toxic and harmful as well even if he himself is traumatized. Obsessive behaviour in parents and over protectiveness is bad for a child. Also she is fiery because she does not like anything threatening her freedom and those she cares about.
@marshmallowvampire8503 It's different for Rapunzel because she was an abuse victim from her perspective, her father was doing thr same thing and keeping her trapped like Gothel did. Except King Frederick did it because of his own trauma and he was thinking of her safety.
Here's another mystery you should talk about was Rapunzel supposed to be the princesses real name wear her parents really going to name her that or they going for something else?
He made a big mistake. Rapunzel spent 18 years of her life getting gaslit and manipulated and having her whole world view twisted by somebody she loved and trusted and, like anybody in that situation it likely felt as though it were happening all over again. The result was hurting her. The king experienced a trauma but so did she and he had no consideration for that.
When it comes to his actions it’s not the intentions that matters but the impact. Yes, unlike Gothel, he’s doing it out of love not selfishness but he’s still putting his needs over his daughter’s. He lets his fear cloud his judgment and lets his worry make Rapunzel’s life miserable. By locking her away he has the same impact on her that Gothel did. Even though he came from a place of love and protectiveness it still doesn’t make him right. He had no right to lock his daughter away and should have told her the truth from the start. After all his daughter is 19, she’s legally an adult. She has the right to make her own decisions.
Rapunzel's father just looked so sensitive and sweet in the movie, this video gives him a whole different side! (Obviously I haven't seen the series) haha
When I first watched this video, I was shocked because I didn’t realize that the king was so protective of his daughter. Thank you for doing this video👍
I think Frederic's intentions are more important. The results ended up similar to Mother Gothel's because he didn't act on his intentions correctly, and he didn't communicate well enough with Rapunzel. A lot of people make mistakes because they don't think enough, clouded by emotion.
Dame Gothel meant godmother and she was a fairy in early versions of the fairytale, so she was Rapunzel’s fairy godmother (or perhaps, HAIRY godmother).
It's amazing how these animated series and movies teach life lessons that become invaluable over time. It took King Fredric to nearly lose his daughter a second time, to finally see the error of his ways. Thanks for the explanation on that, Isaac.

Probably that he 'died' before Rapunzel was born or that he abandoned her while pregnant, and then say it's 'too difficult to talk about'. Either one of those stories would work, considering how much of a sociopathic narcissist Gothel was! She knew how to bend Rapunzel to her will through fear until Rapunzel actually found out the truth.
Did she even know that men are required to have children? It's likely she didn't know of sex during her imprisonment, thus never knowing what a father truly was.

@@quinn1403 HOLD UP. SEASON 4? *SEASON 4????!!?* WHAIT IS THIS A JOKE OR ARE YOU SERIOUS- October was months ago there is no season 4 you little trickster-
King Randor in He-Man 2021 series can relate to Frederick. Like Rapunzel, Adam was stolen, with no indication that he was alive, scarring Randor for life. Having become not very popular in Eternia. I can imagine Randor would have put the same restrictions Frederick put on Rapunzel on Adam if he went home with him in Calm Before the Storm. Adam was still adjusting to learning that he is a prince. Having to dress and act a particular way "as a proper prince" and all that. Also keep Adam safe and ensure he'd never lose him again. Definitely Randor would find it hard to separate the king from the man and father.
I can understand how he feels, but no good ever comes from hardening yourself and tightening your grip. Especially when you’re tightening your grip and confining your child whose life has ALREADY BEEN CONFINEMENT. Even keeping secrets about what put her in that danger in the first place. It wasn’t long before it finally showed up on her doorstep.
I can't say I agree with this characterization of the king because it more or less assumes that he was making the wrong decisions, while Rapunzel was always in the right. Aside from the context of a cartoon or anime, where the younger generations' feelings trump everything else, most of his choices would be correct. His daughter was spirited away once, in spite of being safe inside the castle, so he builds up protective walls and secures the kingdom. Now that she's returned, he has his guards double-down on their watch, which they're all too happy to do for the young princess. He knows she'll be a queen someday, so he instructs her, has her observe him in the court, and gives her the chance to make some decisions while he's away (pretty trusting with how little she'd know by then and the possible consequences that could have). She might feel stifled in the castle, in part because she's having to learn all this etiquette and proper, dignified behavior fitting of the royal family, but her drive to go exploring the world isn't realistic. As a princess, her duty is to the kingdom, not to satisfy whatever fanciful whims she has as a teenager. Besides, they've been separated for her entire life. However, because they won't let her do whatever she pleases, while all her needs and wants are tended to, she's surrounded by people who genuinely care about her, and she's reunited with her family, she's just as imprisoned as she was by Mother Gothel? She now has an entire kingdom to explore, so many people to interact with, but the young princess is still confined (one reason I'm so sick and tired of the classic fairy-tale princess trope). Gother's motivations were always selfish, and Rapunzel was gas-lighted and suppressed heavily. In the kingdom, it's clear her parents love her, and that's the reason driving their actions. They have so much catching up to do, and she already wants to bail on them? How selfish of the king. He only starts limiting her freedoms as a result of impending dangers and her inclination of seeking trouble out. It wouldn't make for a very interesting show if she sat back and played it safe, but is he wrong to be concerned about her welfare when people are attacking her and she's not playing it safe? I don't really get how having guards follow her closely is such a bad thing either. They're literally there to risk their lives for hers. The horrors of having armed security. If she ever got seriously hurt, with things not working out in one of those escapades she has, would he still be wrong if he partitioned her off with constant surveillance by guards? The fact that magic is at work, which nobody quite understands, only exacerbates his concerns. I'd say his biggest misstep was in not being forthright with her about what was going on. Then again, no matter what he did, she seemed driven to seek answers out, so she only would have tried going to the crystals if he told her about them (probably why he didn't). It ultimately worked out (has nothing to do with cartoon logic or anything), but nobody could have foreseen or known it would have. The cost of saving her with the flower for X years may have been her life now (tends to be how fairy-tale magic works), and having only recently reunited with her, would have been an unbearable thought to him. Seeing as how Rapunzel never had much control or experimentation with her magic, it's not like she had that ace in the hole to draw upon or to reassure her father, "Don't worry dad. I learned a lot about my powers in the tower. I think... I know I can do this." She just winged it!
It's been a while since I've watched that episode, but I seem to remember that the guards were already there when Rapunzel and her friend arrived there. So I highly doubt that the guards could have told the King about Rapunzel going to Old Corona, gotten costumes and men and gotten to Old Corona in such a short time. And also, Varian mentioned the guards in his message. No, the guards were already there, and probably have been for a while. Maybe they were just trying to steal the graphtyc, but considering how little the King cares about his subjects and morales (when it comes to his family) he possibly also ordered them to make sure that Varian won't be able to reach out to Rapunzel again. Thus completing Varian's isolation from the kingdom (and being hunted or at least imprisoned by masked men probably didn't help with his fragile mental and emotional state either).
I get wanting to protect your kid, especially after they were kidnapped for YEARS, but the more you implement strict rules and regulations (especially built on lies like with the black rocks) will only make them more likely to rebel and go against it. Also I’ve never seen the series, are Eugene and Rapunzel still married at this point?
It's basically the same thing as when I tame like ten wolves in Minecraft and then proceed to keep them in one spot for the entire time I play in the world and never let them come adventure with me because I'm scared they'll die
Can you do a video about Audrey's full story? Because I want to know if Audrey was betrothed to Ben since they were kids, and that betrothal was broken by Ben when fell in love and began dating Mal after Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos came to Auradon from the Isle of the Lost!
There is no doubt that King Fredrick's action were similar to Mother Gothel, but I totally believe that all the over protectiveness came from *NOTHING* but genuine true love 💖💖💖 Heck half of season 1 I was both angery and sympathetic for him
I don’t think Gothel would care how her actions would put much trauma on Rapunzel’s parents after she her from them and left an affect on Frederic’s psyche.
Material consequence matters as much as, if not more than, motive. It's ridiculous, too-Rapunzel lived outside of his kingdom for most of her young life and she survived. She made her way back to her parents. The King should have trusted in that a little more. If I were her I'd find it a little insulting.
To me I think that Frederic doesn't understand that waht he's doing is wrong and keeping Rapunzel inside and away from the world Rapunzel can fight and defend herself and he's just one of those parents that doesn't want to let their go out to explore the world and defend themselves in the way, that he have got the wake up call of his errors and actions to let Rapunzel do what she wants and still loves her.
Honestly the comparison between Rapunzel‘s father and mother Gothal although they are acting the same their intentions are different however I will say that their intentions are rather similar due to the fact that they both wanted to protect her yes mother Gothal Soli wanted to keep Rapunzel for herself but what if in fact Rapunzel‘s father was acting the same way but just disguising it as the fact that he just wants to protect her? What if he only wants to keep her for himself the same way that Other Goethal Rapunzel for herself? Their actions are different but also similar if you think about it.
I watched a show on Discovery ID called Disappeared, it's a great watch if you're in the mood for crippling depression. Needless to say, I sympathize with the man.
Tangled series had ended with the last episode of Corona kingdom has now liberation from the curse of the black sharp rocks forever but to me King Frederic will always be not so my favorite character with the others especially my same not so favorite royal ruler after everything happened with Varian and his dad I'm staying to dislike that man of a king, end of story.
I was soooo confused! Until I read Wikipedia about Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures series. Isaac, you cannot assume everyone spends their lives watching everything there is to watch about Rapunzel. It would be a much more enjoyable to watch if you introduced your video by stating that it will be entirely based on the TV show, and not on the movie Tangled. And maybe a quick summary of the main plot of the series before you dive into details.
I like the story about their family, but there is one thing I am curious about. They are the royal family of the kingdom. Even in their mourning of their lost daughter and heir they are still the "ruling royal family." Don't they kind of have a duty as the rulers to have an heir?
I wonder what would happen while Rapunzel was kidnapped Queen Ariana gave birth to another baby girl which is Rapunzel's little sister who is 8 years younger than her and King Fredric would also be protective of her that would be amazing right Rapunzel went from a single child to having a sibling.
His actions were driven by things entirely different "She who must be named" (my thought of how Gothel is know in Corona). I can understand no parent wants to lose their child especially not go through this kind of pain twice. Frederick could have been more honest and open with Raps, just maybe things could've been different. I thought him being compared to Gothel was Mega Harsh, considering she was the cause of everything. Raps did have a point though both Frederick and Gothel lied and orchastrated things behind Raps' back as means to keep Raps contained

They get married in th short film ever after which takes place after tangked the series
It's basically the same thing as when I tame like ten wolves in Minecraft and then proceed to keep them in one spot for the entire time I play in the world and never let them come adventure with me because I'm scared they'll die
King Fredrick has PTSD
Can you do a video about Audrey's full story? Because I want to know if Audrey was betrothed to Ben since they were kids, and that betrothal was broken by Ben when fell in love and began dating Mal after Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos came to Auradon from the Isle of the Lost!
Once in an alternate universe, King Frederic owned a restaurant underwater and he sold his fry cook chef for 62 cents
I wonder if that fry cook really *soaked* up all of the info on how to run the restaurant and make excellent food.
There is no doubt that King Fredrick's action were similar to Mother Gothel, but I totally believe that all the over protectiveness came from *NOTHING* but genuine true love 💖💖💖
Heck half of season 1 I was both angery and sympathetic for him
That's so cool you're sponsored! Congrats!
Oh my God, Clancy brown voices him!
Well now I can never be mad at this character
I don’t think Gothel would care how her actions would put much trauma on Rapunzel’s parents after she her from them and left an affect on Frederic’s psyche.
" just because it was a difficult choice does not mean it was the wrong one" said every dictator ever.
It takes years for a parent to learn to let go Frederic had to do it in a year
Material consequence matters as much as, if not more than, motive. It's ridiculous, too-Rapunzel lived outside of his kingdom for most of her young life and she survived. She made her way back to her parents. The King should have trusted in that a little more. If I were her I'd find it a little insulting.
Does Rapunzel’s father kinda sound like Hugo from “Barbie as Rapunzel” to anyone else? 💜💖
Is Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure coming back to Disney Channel for a third season?
@@kendraroth1276 Thanks
And a fourth season in October 2020
Please do Jessie Prescott's Full Story from Jessie.
I watched a show on Discovery ID called Disappeared, it's a great watch if you're in the mood for crippling depression. Needless to say, I sympathize with the man.
After six months of corona good one
I want to know Angry and Red’s backstory 🤔💭
Great video
You need more subs man
Great work
Tangled series had ended with the last episode of Corona kingdom has now liberation from the curse of the black sharp rocks forever
but to me King Frederic will always be not so my favorite character with the others especially my same not so favorite royal ruler after everything happened with Varian and his dad
I'm staying to dislike that man of a king, end of story.
I love what you do
Can you please do Celia Facilier's Full Story from Descendants 3.
Omg I have the same exact shirt but pink!
This a great video I love the Tangled videos so much
Arghhh I NEED to watch this series now lol...I wish it was on Netflix x_x
The giant robot that attacked her on her birthday is literally a Big Daddy from Bioshock.
I'm not even lying. Come on Disney!
Great video! It’s a great theory and it makes a lot of sense.
Am I the only one who's still bothered by the fact she's a princess but still doesn't wear shoes?
Weird.
All the dolls have shoes
Maybe she likes the feeling of nature on her feet
She hates wearing shoes
Idk, i don't find it annoying i just wonder how she is fine with all the dirt and stuff
I understand it's to represent her freedom etc, but still how does she never get feet injuries with all that exposure? lol.
Oh my goodness, at 3:54 I literally died 😂
Question 🙋♀️ they should make a movie about repunzul meets her sister Elsa that would be awesome 🤩
They made a fanfiction about that with a character called Harmony they call it a sisters tangled Adventure
Father and daughter moment
I never clicked so fast in my life
Rapunzel is the girlfreind of prince Charming
His actions were driven by things entirely different "She who must be named" (my thought of how Gothel is know in Corona). I can understand no parent wants to lose their child especially not go through this kind of pain twice. Frederick could have been more honest and open with Raps, just maybe things could've been different. I thought him being compared to Gothel was Mega Harsh, considering she was the cause of everything. Raps did have a point though both Frederick and Gothel lied and orchastrated things behind Raps' back as means to keep Raps contained
