01:58 Actually, people always recommend to start from EoSD because it doesn't have gimmick like other games, it's just a simple shooter game 04:35 You can stand in front of her and will not get hit
That only works on Easy version of the spellcard; the yellow spread is added on Normal to prevent that funny cheese. ...Okay, technically Normal version also has a blind spot, but it's WAY less obvious.
I'm a 14-year player and I really liked this video! Only a small little correction: the hitbox is what actually hits, while a hurtbox is what hitboxes can, you guessed, hurt. So bullets have hitboxes while the main characters and enemies have hurtboxes. I don't know why the community calls all of them just hitboxes
@@ch3rry833 Hurtboxes are still sometimes used in the context of the Touhou games (generally if a boss' hurtbox is different than their hitbox in any significant way) but yeah, otherwise, everything is a hitbox. This isn't a fighting game for the distinction to matter, or even exist for that matter.
@@ch3rry833 If this were a fighting game, yeah. It could be called that. But this isn't, so nobody calls it that. Touhou, and most games for that matter, really don't make meaningful distinction enough between the two to warrant them called different things.
You can be proud of yourself man, that was amazing. I've been playing touhou for a year and got normal 1cc for all games up to 14 but I would never be able to beat hard lunatic or extra and you did that after only one month. You're amazing, I hope you'll do videos for other touhou games even if it isn't for a challenge. In any cases I'll subscribe bc you definitely deserved it ✌️
I always thought EoSD was the best starting point, even now I still think it's true. It's just simple raw danmaku that doesn't require as much micrododging as 7 onward (because you couldn't see your hitbox at the time)
13:34 that would be 9 lives, 0 stars = 1 life = last life; ingame its the 0 life, hence when you put to begin with 3 lives you begin with 2 stars(this dont count to bombs)
EoSD has some difficulty jank. Needle Mountain is probably actually harder on Hard than Lunatic, because the lanes the attack forms are less obvious, plus that attack on Lunatic actually hits bullet cap. PCB is... even worse about it, Easy is diet Normal and Stage 4 boss is also funny balancing moment. One of the nons on Easy actually devolves into mess of slow and dense bullets, making it way worse than even the Lunatic variant. Btw, "miss" comes from ミス (misu), which is short for English "mistake".
I had my life count reach higher numbers on SA runs than in EoSD (a good run would have 7 spare lives by Satori; none of my EoSD runs ever had that many extra lives at once). SA on Normal is still way harder than EoSD on Normal because Orin is more likely to eat your lives than Sakuya. Lives alone don't determine difficulty of game.
i think touhou's difficulty modes are perfectly named as is. if anything it kinda exaggerates itself, cause hard's description is "for arcade players", when it'd be more applicable to lunatic. beginners back then regularly went to the arcades, so while they weren't necessarily proficient, they still knew how to approach the genre. today's beginners however are cavemen with little to no understanding of even basic principles like routing, streaming or resource management, so it's only natural that easy mode would seem more like "normal" to most not sure why you went for hard and lunatic before extra as it's only slightly harder than normal the community trends towards LNB over LNM cause they're too lazy to route bombs. touhou is far more of a gorilla game than a chimp game. the memorisation and execution required in stages is lax compared to the dodging skill demanded from bosses: the inverse of other shmups where bosses are typically a joke while stages are nightmarishly difficult timing out sakuya is not recommended as not only do you miss out on the extend but you also don't get to skip the spam section afterwards. ideally you headsit midnon and finish it right before the timer ends, then capture misdirection to get both the extend and skip the entirety of spam meekspot is fairly easy if you're playing without english patch. you can line up with the kanji to align with the safespot the "spiral shot fairy" is just called "death fairy" by fans i get it's a cool trendy video idea but i really don't recommend setting yourself a time limit for these kinds of goals. you're supposed to enjoy your time with the game like any other hobby. so what if you don't get it today? there's always tomorrow
may the algorithm bless you
Practising touhou is a different level of vigorous training. Can confirm

This is a pretty fun video. I'll have to give your Tekken one a watch

hurtbox as a term mostly used in fighting games, that's why we don't care and call everything hitboxes
@@NeiroYT it's just incorrect to call it hitbox tho

GGs on the clears hope you keep having fun playing touhou
My Fav moment is 38:38 with the realization of the extra stage existing

I would try some cave bullet hell next! They practically invented the genre then perfected it haha. Great video!

touhou is my fav game we are in gaming darkage so alot these old games have more work put into them than most modern games if not all modern games
The moment you picked up the game you already played more than the average fan, welcome to the club!
15 days to learn eosd on lunatic? Actually built different
Good video, I know nothing about Touhou but I'm thinking about checking it out now
You're supposed to do extra stage after Normal 1CC, trying to do Lunatic No miss before extra stage made for a very convoluted story.

awesome videoo!!!you goooo ❤
Even though the video is primarily just EoSD(and with the Retexture Patch which is :hahaa:), I still approve of this video.
well done and welcome to the touhou club!
Nice going. Glad I could help.
thanks to the usage of extra lives my fragile ego and mission will remain intact! hooray!
the fact that the game reduces your bonus score with a
another certified banger
Great video
Nice!

Good job on on the 1cc! My favorite is Subterranean Animism, hope you check it out sometime!
