- In my years of watching Mark Wiens, I came to the realization that most of his reviews are positive, and finding anything negative was like finding a needle in a haystack. In addition, none of the big RUclips bloggers don't bother to create a "Worst" Experiences compilation. For sure, their "Best Food Experiences" can be found everywhere, but not their worst. So, I have decided to create a "worst" experience caught on camera for the audiences viewing pleasure. This will save you the hassle of looking for these videos manually.

In my own opinion, eating fantastic and great food are typically overrated, and having bad experiences is sometimes more rememberable than the good because occasionally, we like to see a disaster in the making. In my search for these rare gems, I have managed to find a few good nuggets along the way that reflects his "displeasure" or bad experiences. As far as I can recollect there was only one occasion, in Thailand actually where he said the food was not good (too salty) and pricey!

Few things ive learned about Mark: If it's too sweet hes gonna mention it and how he's not the biggest fan of sweet (just like me), he always tries to stay positive, but overall he is very honest but absolutely enjoys food. "If it's not spicy im not eating" best motto to live by.
@No Comments what? He's explained multiple times about the too sweet thing in videos which is one of the biggest things I've noticed he doesn't like. Majority of the stuff he does but I've also seen him talk about how one specific place wasn't exactly the best quality.

What shocks me the most is Mark's long hair in a bun !
It's refreshing seeing him dislike food every now and then. It makes him human and he doesn't come off like a 24/7 smiling robot for a moment

Halfscreen I just have that kind of experience last week. In a kind a famous seaside restaurant with very expensive pricing compares with the others. They can't even properly grill a simple squid & lobster. Squid chooped tiny and grilled until hard rubbery. Last and not least just poured dark thick soy souce. And that's it. 😭🤦🏽
I always thought that for each meal he decides to show, he has probably discarded half a dozen places

Bless his heart. You can tell he tries to find something positive about everything. I bet he just edits out the bad experiences. Because you KNOW he's tasted some really bad stuff during all his travels. Just a really nice guy.
I think he is just trying to be polite. He may have a bad experience giving out a honest review, similar to backlash on yelp with bad review.

Mark isn't a negative person by nature so I don't expect anything out of the ordinary.
@@Halfscreen I know. I love how positive he is, and how he seems to find stuff that's way off the beaten track, and talks about cultures and foods and beautiful places we'd never hear about. I still think it's funny when he does it though. He chews slower, like he's stalling for time, and "Ok....ok..." means he's anlyzing the live frog he just put in his mouth, to find the nicest thing he can say about it. I love the travel parts too. Some people in the US are woefully ignorant of different cultures. I really wish those types would stay home.
@@abbyiswatching2046 Overall, I think people in the US are getting better at eating other foods beside American food. You can see it when an Asian restaurants are full of non-Asian. That didn't existed 20-30 years ago.

This is hilarious! So many of your videos show “amazing” fresh, natural, flavorful and fragrant foods from around the world. It’s a delight to see each one! However, I was hoping that you would show the other end of the spectrum at some point. You have and its so funny!
That was hilarious. I always wondered how I could trust his reviews as I never seen him review negatively til now.
They are genuine expressions believe me. I usually cook the food that he shows he really likes and it is usually delicious. I find the recipes online and then I rewatch the show and watch the person cook it on the show. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Well, I do trust his reviews... He comes across quite genuine despite the same expression that he gives all the time
Actually he makes thorough research about places that truly serves good food. He also relies on the info from his connections on different countries and regions. The reason why he has to do this is to not waste time. It’s not easy to film multiple food locations to fit in 1 video. If you waste time, you waste money. He also knows that the good food places needs to be presented in his videos, to support those businesses.

It's why I love watching Mike Chen. The guy will come across not so great food, and he tells his viewers like it is but in the most respectful way possible! Mark smiles through the pain which is also commendable. Mike offers suggestions which is as commendable. My fav 2 food reviewers!
