We Asians are closely knit families. It is common that our immediate family lives with us in the same house. And you can tell that Mark is really a good kind hearted person cause he allows it to happen. Not every son in law especially not Asian will do that. Though I think he has some Asian blood. Everything look cheap (materials) and build SO not in order which is like the most of cheap house in Thailand. HOWEVER, that is the point. I am almost crying watching Mark express his super positive feeling about the house and his life. I could bet Mark is a person that could be happy and make everyone around him happy regardless of the places.

She also grave money and did a ceremony for my late grandfather. 🤷🏻♀️ once you are married your significant other parents are an extension of your own family and you follow the family hierarchy. An example is my mom married into my dads family and she was the youngest in her family but she became the second youngest in my dads so she is seen as an elder sister to my dads youngest brother. It’s a cultural and society difference, that’s foreshore, but I love it. Also, cousins are seen as brothers and sisters and typically will live on the same plot of land near each other to help with chores.

Mark, I did not expect to enjoy this house tour video so much. I have seen quite a few, but this was special, especially because nothing in your house looks staged or posh. It is so real, as real and lived-in as our normal middle-class homes in India. Of course, your house is large (a little jealous of all the space, tbh!) but it feels homey, and relaxing, and so welcoming. You have a lovely home and an even more lovely family. God bless!

I stumbled across Mark doing a Philadelphia sandwich video with JL Jupiter. I was immediately struck by his upbeat enthusiasm over food. And here I am.I truly enjoy the content of his videos and the way he conducts himself as a human being.
It's normal for thai, but he's white, he gotta have a big heart to do so. Most mix couples wouldn't do that, I can say more than 95%, and to be fair, I'm indonesian(french husband) we have the same family value with thais but I know 0 mix couple that done the same as mark, but doesn't mean we're dumping our families lol, still visiting them at least once in 1-2weeks. And it's 2018, asian are more modern and prefer to live separately with their parents after their wedding.
I agree to a point my wife is Thai but has grown up in the country I did and we both don't want our parents to live with us but her cousins who lived there their entire life share a home with their parents and grandmother it is still very normal.

This may be 2years old but not much has changed and there’s no reason not to smile. I lived in a suburb called BangNa, not that far from the city in almost identical house. The prices for everything are still crazy low. Love the people, love the almost daily light show at night (a storm somewhere almost every day) etc etc. 3 years wasn’t enough for me and if I could do what Mark does I’d be smiling just as much.

I live in Pasadena California. Mark has about 3 times more square footage of house than I do. His total cost of living appears to be about 20% of mine! I’m also envious of him being able to have Ying’s extended family living with him. I’m so happy for Mark and the life he’s built for himself!

I will say though it's inevitable someday she'll be exposed to it. Just saying kind of hard to keep them away. best to watch it together to contextualize it... explain how it hurts people that's the part most young people miss. I had a Thai friend and we would walk home after school and she would often ask me to come to her house and join her for an afternoon school snack, but mind you, a Thai snack isn't an ordinary snack, it's a full blown meal and this is how I felll in love with Thai food. My friends mom made the most delicious Thai cousins, it was like eating at a fancy Thai restaurant every day after school. One of my fondest memories from school days. 😊

I know this was posted a few years ago, but thank you for the house tour. That is an amazingly big house for Bangkok and the price is equally amazing. I was surprised at how much I liked Bangkok when I was there last year. I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the neighborhoods and markets. I agree, having a place with room for a garden is best.
You live a very nice and comfortable life! You pay about $700-$750 a month for daily needs, have family close, and travel around the world to eat food! Very jealous 😆

Wow the rooms are huge. It's really awesome how you live with Ying's sister and parents. That is marvelous for Micah having his extended family around everyday. The cost of living seems to be really reasonable in Bangkok. I rented a basic, small three bedroom house for my foster son and I and it cost NZ$440 per week which is US$300. Then we paid for water, phone, internet and power separately which was about NZ$80 per week which is US $57. Each month (28 days) just for accommodation, power etc it cost me NZ $2,080, US $1480. On a teacher wage, (approximately US$3600 per month) that was quite a lot to pay. Our food bill was about NZ$180 per week, US$128 because the boy I was fostering at the time had type one diabetes and I have crohns disease which after many surgeries means I only have 1.2 metres of my intestine so I am on a specific diet. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Mark, I did not expect to enjoy this house tour video so much. I have seen quite a few, but this was special, especially because nothing in your house looks staged or posh. It is so real, as real and lived-in as our normal middle-class homes in India. Of course, your house is large (a little jealous of all the space, tbh!) but it feels homey, and relaxing, and so welcoming. You have a lovely home and an even more lovely family. God bless!

It's normal in Thailand for entire familys to live together including grandparents.
They are not really dump your parents in a home type of people.
It's normal for thai, but he's white, he gotta have a big heart to do so. Most mix couples wouldn't do that, I can say more than 95%, and to be fair, I'm indonesian(french husband) we have the same family value with thais but I know 0 mix couple that done the same as mark, but doesn't mean we're dumping our families lol, still visiting them at least once in 1-2weeks. And it's 2018, asian are more modern and prefer to live separately with their parents after their wedding.
I agree to a point my wife is Thai but has grown up in the country I did and we both don't want our parents to live with us but her cousins who lived there their entire life share a home with their parents and grandmother it is still very normal.
Cultural...your parents raise you and take care of you and as they age roles reverse kids grow up and take care of their parents in their old age
Maybe they share the bills n the house chores. Just cos they r staying together doesn't mean he is paying everything on his own

@@jasminflowerz1710 I would have thought you would get use to it. I had to work one time in Nashville for a couple of weeks. The locals told me that they were use to the humidity. I'm from California and maybe once in a blue moon it gets humid enough to where I can feel it enough that it's uncomfortable.

This may be 2years old but not much has changed and there’s no reason not to smile. I lived in a suburb called BangNa, not that far from the city in almost identical house. The prices for everything are still crazy low. Love the people, love the almost daily light show at night (a storm somewhere almost every day) etc etc. 3 years wasn’t enough for me and if I could do what Mark does I’d be smiling just as much.

That is about 10 times what an average person makes in the U.S. Mark has many views on his videos, but he does need to get his subscriber numbers up. I remember my first purchased house was $613/month. I only wish I could find rentals or purchase at $613/month now some 20 years later.

I live in Pasadena California. Mark has about 3 times more square footage of house than I do. His total cost of living appears to be about 20% of mine! I’m also envious of him being able to have Ying’s extended family living with him. I’m so happy for Mark and the life he’s built for himself!

I had a Thai friend and we would walk home after school and she would often ask me to come to her house and join her for an afternoon school snack, but mind you, a Thai snack isn't an ordinary snack, it's a full blown meal and this is how I felll in love with Thai food. My friends mom made the most delicious Thai cousins, it was like eating at a fancy Thai restaurant every day after school. One of my fondest memories from school days. 😊

I know this was posted a few years ago, but thank you for the house tour. That is an amazingly big house for Bangkok and the price is equally amazing. I was surprised at how much I liked Bangkok when I was there last year. I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the neighborhoods and markets. I agree, having a place with room for a garden is best.
You live a very nice and comfortable life! You pay about $700-$750 a month for daily needs, have family close, and travel around the world to eat food! Very jealous 😆

Wow the rooms are huge. It's really awesome how you live with Ying's sister and parents. That is marvelous for Micah having his extended family around everyday. The cost of living seems to be really reasonable in Bangkok. I rented a basic, small three bedroom house for my foster son and I and it cost NZ$440 per week which is US$300. Then we paid for water, phone, internet and power separately which was about NZ$80 per week which is US $57. Each month (28 days) just for accommodation, power etc it cost me NZ $2,080, US $1480. On a teacher wage, (approximately US$3600 per month) that was quite a lot to pay. Our food bill was about NZ$180 per week, US$128 because the boy I was fostering at the time had type one diabetes and I have crohns disease which after many surgeries means I only have 1.2 metres of my intestine so I am on a specific diet. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
